  • This study was carried out to test the effects of temperatures between 2$0^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$ on the reproduction and development of the rice water weevil, Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus. Preoviposition periods were much longer (17.2 to 51.0 days) in the overwintering adult females collected in March than those collected in May, regardless of temperature. Oviposition periods, however, were longer (16.9 to 22.0 days) in the adult females collected in May than those collected in March at the same temperatures. The longer oviposition period observed in the females collected in May were directly associated with higher fecundity. Egg periods were shortened from as temperature increased, but the hatching rate was highest (100%) at 27$^{\circ}C$. The developmental periods from egg to adult were shortened as temperature increased : from 77.9 days at 2$0^{\circ}C$ to 38.3 days at 3$0^{\circ}C$. The developmental zero point temperature (T) and the total effect temperature (K) for egg were 16.3$^{\circ}C$ and 62.1 dgree days, respectively. The T and K from egg to adult emergence were 13.9$^{\circ}C$ and 577.6 dgree days, respectively. The adult females of the first generation did not oviposit at 2$0^{\circ}C$, but did at $25^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$. The intrinsic rate of natural increase (r$_{m}$) increased as temperature augmented. Net reproductive rate (Ro) per generation was highest (75.3) at $25^{\circ}C$.>.

  • Farming density of oyster cultured in Hansan-Geoje Bay was studied to obtain the optimal farming density based on the biosedimentation analysis and the annual yield data from 1970 to 1979. Farming density of oyster extrapolated by means of pollution grade of sediment is significantly correlated to COD and phaeophytin content of the bottom mud of the bay. Pollution grade is linearly related to the number of oyster clusters suspended in the unit area. Optimal farming density was $0.12\;string/m^2$ in case of raft culture, and it was $0.12\;string/m^2$ in case of long-line culture. Farming density was well expressed by the number of strings per raft and the area covered by a raft. As strings per raft increased from 350 to 558, total yield from a raft increased and when occupied sea area per raft ranged from $1.000\;m^2\;to\;6,000\;m^2$, the yield per raft linearly increased as the area increased. This analysis suggests that the optimal density be 0.11 string per unit area $(m^2)$. As increasing the number of strings per $m^2$ the yield per string decreases, and this is well dipicted by a linear function. At this time the yield per unit area increases when the number of string increases up to the density of $0.13\;strings/m^2$. From the point of these three comprehensive analyses the optimal density was $0.11\~0.13\;string/m^2$ in case of raft culture and $0.25\;strings/m^2$ in case of long-line culture in Hansan-Geoje Bay. The maximum expected yield of oyster in Hansan-Geoje Bay is approximately 5,600 tons when maintained the string density at $0.11\~0.13\;string/m^2$.

  • Let f be a transcendental meromorphic function, defined in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. In this paper, we give a quantitative estimations of the characteristic function T(r, f) in terms of the counting function of a homogeneous differential polynomial generated by f. Our result improves and generalizes some recent results.

  • The efficacy of the combination of Burkholderia cepacia B23 with 0.75% chitosan and 3% calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$) as a biocontrol treatment of anthracnose disease of papaya caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, was evaluated during storage. The growth of B. cepacia B23 in papaya wounds and on fruit surfaces was not affected in presence of chitosan and $CaCl_2$ or combination throughout the storage period. The combination of B. cepacia B23 with chitosan-$CaCl_2$ was more effective in controlling the disease than either B. cepacia B23 or chitosan or other combination treatments both in inoculated and naturally infected fruits. Combining B. cepacia B23 with chitosan-$CaCl_2$ gave the complete control of anthracnose infection in artificially inoculated fruits stored at $14^{\circ}C$ and 95% RH for 18 days, which was similar to that obtained with fungicide $benocide^{(R)}$. Moreover, this combination offered a greater control by reducing 99% disease severity in naturally infected fruits at the end of 14 days storage at $14^{\circ}C$ and 95% RH and six days post ripening at $28\pm2^{\circ}C$, which was superior to that found with $benocide^{(R)}$ or other treatments tested. Thus, postharvest application of B. cepacia B23 with chitosan-$CaCl_2$ as enhancers represents a promising alternative to synthetic fungicides for the control of anthracnose in papaya during storage.

  • Phosphodiesterase (PDE) plays an important role in cAMP-mediated signaling within cells. We previously showed that the long-form of Aplysia PDE4 (ApPDE4) was localized in the plasma membrane and the presynaptic terminal in Aplysia sensory neurons, and the 16 N-terminal amino acid was sufficient for this targeting process. In this study, we characterized the cellular localization of various ApPDE4 mutants. We first identified the roles of each amino acid within the group of 16 N-terminal amino acids of long-form ApPDE4. As a result, we were able to identify various mutants that were localized to both the plasma membrane and the Golgi complex, Golgi only, or both the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi complex. To examine the role of palmitoylation on the cellular localization of ApPDE4 mutants, 2-bromo palmitate (2-BR) was used as a treatment. As a result, in the presence of 2-BR, the plasma membrane targeting of many mutants was impaired, indicating that palmitoylation was involved in the plasma membrane targeting of the mutants. We also found that PI4P play crucial roles in the Golgi targeting of (N16,C3S/VV/G)-mRFP, L(N16,C3S/LFS/R)-mRFP, and L(N16,EPL/R)-mRFP.

  • The tendency of the Minimalism in the contemporary a architecture is based on Mies van der Rohe s saying ‘나SS IS m more" as the principle of the Minimal art and its formative c composition. It can be divided into technical Minimalism p prevailed in Northern Europe and the zone of German l language, and the regional one in Southern Europe and S Southern America. The former is interested in the experiences of the techniques and materials, and the latter in that of the s space and the place through the simple forms. The minialistic approach to the architecture is nat only m methodological one. It accepts the concept and the construction of architecture as 2 axes for making it keeps the tradition and c communication with the master builder, the materials, and i염 m means to compound. • The aim of this study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two domperidone preparations. Bioequivalence assessment was conducted on 34 healthy volunteers who received two tablets (Domperidone Maleate, 12.72 mg/tablet) in the fasting state, in a randomized balanced $2{\times}2$ cross-over study design. This whole study was performed according to the implementation guidelines of the Korea Food Drug Administration. After dosing of two tablets, blood samples were collected serially for a period of 36 hours. Plasma was analyzed for domperidone by using LC/MS/MS assay method. The analysis system was validated in specificity, accuracy, precision, and linearity. $AUC_t$, (the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from the zero-time to 36 hr) was calculated through the trapezoidal rule. $C_{max}$ (maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ (time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the plasma domperidone concentration-time data of each volunteer. No significant sequence effect was found for the bioavailability parameters indicating that the cross-over design was properly performed. The 90%-Confidence intervals of the $AUC_t$ ratio and the $C_{max}$ were from log 0.8007 to log 1.1240 and log 0.8645- log 1.2483, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals between 0.80 and 1.25. Therefore, this study demonstrated that two formulations have bioequivalence with respect to the rate and extent of absorption.
