Dual-Cell Combining Detection Method for Reduction of Residual Frequency Offset Influence on Code Acquisition Systems (나머자 옵셋이 부호획득 시스템에 미치는 영향을 줄이기 위한 듀얼셀 결합 검파 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new detection method called dual-cell combining (DCC) detection for the acquisition in time of spread spectrum codes in the presence of residual frequency offset (RFO). When the RFO exists, the correlation peak used for detection during the acquisition process is split into two neighboring peaks with smaller amplitudes, resulting in considerable degradation in the overall acquisition performance of conventional methods. In the DCC detection method, the decision variable for detection is formed by combining two consecutive correlator outputs so that the influence of the reduction in the correlation peak due to the RFO can be alleviated. Numerical results show that the DCC detection method can offer better mean-time-to-synchrouization performance than the conventional method based on the cell-by-cell detection.

Design of a High-Resolution DCO Using a DAC (DAC를 이용한 고해상도 DCO 설계)

  • Dithering scheme has been widely used to improve the resolution of DCO(Digitally Controlled Oscillator) in conventional ADPLLs(All Digital Phase Locked Loop). In this paper a new resolution improvement scheme is proposed where a simple DAC(Digital-to-Analog Converter) is employed to overcome the problems of dithering scheme. The frequencies are controled by varactors in coarse, fine, and DAC bank. The DAC bank consists of an inversion mode NMOS varactor. The other varactor banks consist of PMOS varactors. Each varactor bank is controlled by 8bit digital signal. The proposed DCO has been designed in a $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Measurement results shows that the designed DCO oscillates in 2.8GHz~3.5GHz and has a frequency tuning range of 660MHz and a resolution of 73Hz at 2.8GHz band. The designed DCO exhibits a phase noise of -119dBc/Hz at lMHz frequency offset. The DCO core consumes 4.2mA from l.2V supply. The chip area is $1.3mm{\times}1.3mm$ including pads.

Analysis of Characteristic of Graphene Thin Film Transistor and Properties of Graphene using Copper Substrate (구리기판을 이용한 그래핀 박막 특성 및 그래핀을 이용한 트랜지스터의 특성 분석)

  • Graphene thin film was prepared on the copper foils by chemical deposition, and the characteristic of graphene depending on $H_2$ and CH4 gas flow rates was analyzed by the Raman spectra. The graphene formation was improved with increment of methan gas flow rates. The increment of hydrogen gas flow rate made high intensity of D($1350cm^{-1}$) and G($1580cm^{-1}$). The peak of D($1350cm^{-1}$) is related with the defects, and the 2D($2700cm^{-1}$) increased depending on the increment of amount of methan gas flow rate. The rate of G/2D indicates the quality of garphene to like a monolayer, and the small value of G/2D means better grapheme. The G/2D of graphene after annealed at $200^{\circ}C$ was 0.55 and improved the characteristic of graphene than the deposited-grapnene. Thin film transistor with graphene as an active channel was p-type semiconductor.

A Study on Thermo-properties of Fluorine Doped Tin Oxide Thin Film by APCVD Technique (APCVD법으로 성막된 SnO2:F 박막의 열적 특성 연구)

  • 불소가 도핑된 산화주석(SnO2:F, FTO) 박막은 다결정 전도성 세라믹으로 가시광선 영역에서 투명하기 때문에 태양전지의 전극으로 활용된다. 본 연구에서 FTO는 APCVD법으로 성막되었다. BSG기판을 사용하여 $620^{\circ}C$의 고온에서 공정이 진행되었다. 이렇게 제작된 FTO 박막은 수소, 질소, 대기 분위기에서 여러 열처리 시간을 변수로 실험하여 열처리 전후의 전기적, 광학적, 구조적 변화를 관찰하고 분석하였다. 전기적 특성 분석에는 전기 비저항, 모빌리티 및 캐리어 농도 등의 변화를 알아보았고, 광학적 분석에는 UV-vis spectoscopy로 200nm에서 800nm 파장대역의 투과도를 구하고, Hazemeter를 통하여 총투과율, 평행투과율, 확산투과율 및 Haze를 분석하여 FTO막이 가지고 있는 texturing에 의한 효과를 알아보기 위하여 시편의 열처리 전후를 비교 분석하였다. 구조적 분석은 XRD를 이용하여 pattern을 분석하여 FTO가 가지는 구조변화를 분석하였다. 특히 FTO의 texturing에 기여도가 높은 (200)면의 XRD peak강도가 상승함에 따라 후열처리에 의해 박막의 표면의 변화가 일어남을 확인하였다. FTO의 후열처리에 의한 변화는 전기적으로는 약간의 전기 비저항의 증가를 가져오며, 캐리어 농도의 감소를 가져온다. 캐리어 농도의 감소에 따라 모빌리티의 상승이 관찰되었다. 광학적 특성은 가시광선 영역에서 투과율은 거의 같거나 약간 감소하는 경향을 나타내며, 후열처리 전후에 거의 동일한 투과율을 보이면서도 확산 투과율이 상승하는 분석 결과를 얻었다.

  • The video transmission system using OFDM method at 18GHz frequency band was developed for wireless video transmission from subway to monitoring center when subway running. It is composed of digital modulation board and RF board. And it has a robust characteristics of multipath fading in subway tunnels at 18GHz. To verify the system, we used spectrum analyzer for analysing the output of transmission system and get the results that it has 350MHz frequency, 8MHz bandwidth and -19dBm channel power. Also we tested video receiving using MPEG-2 encoder and got good quality images.

  • As the technologies such as middle-range resonant WPT (wireless power transfer) advance that utilizes medium and low-frequency magnetic field, the importance of safety of such magnetic field is growing. The research on the effect of electromagnetic field on the human body has been mainly done on the GHz range of mobile phones, or 50~60Hz range of electric power systems. However, there has been relatively few works on the 100kHz~10MHz range used in the resonant wireless power transfer. Since there is a difference in the limiting value of magnetic field between widely used ICNIRP EMF guideline and IEEE C95.1 standard, there can be possible confusion when establishing EMF (Electromagnetic Field) standard on the wireless power transfer device in the future. In this paper, the induced current in the human body, which is the basic restriction of the EMF guideline, is calculated using Quasi-static FDTD method when 3D high-resolution human model is exposed to the 100kHz~10MHz magnetic field. Using this result, the feasibility of the magnetic field reference level in the ICNIRP guideline is analyzed.

Miniaturized CPW-fed Folded Slot Antenna (소형화된 CPW 급전 폴디드 슬롯 안테나)

  • In the present study, we proposed newly a CPW-fed miniaturized folded-slot antenna with open ended slot for WCDMA (1.92 ~ 2.17 GHz) band. Open-ended slots and asymmetric ground plane are used for a miniaturization of the antenna, and the proposed antenna was designed and fabricated on a FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm, and size of 35×70 ㎟. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| ≤ -10 dB) of fabricated antenna is about 400 MHz (1.86 ~ 2.26 GHz), which sufficiently satisfied interested band. Furthermore, the gain of antenna is 2 dBi and this antenna shows a similar radiation patterns of the dipole antenna. Therefore, it is expected to be used usefully in wireless and mobile communication device.

OZONE MEASUREMENTS IN THE STRATOSPHERE FROM KSR420S-1 AND -2 (과학 1, 2호 로켓 실험을 통한 성층권 오존량 측정)

  • The Korean sounding rockets(KSR420S-1, -2) equipped with ozone detectors have b3en launched at An-heung, Chungchungnam-do, on June 4 and September 1, 1993, respectively. The ozone detector is used to measure the attenuation of solar UV radiation for various frequency bands in the stratosphere, to obtain vertical profiles of the ozone number density in the stratosphere. They confirm that the maximum ozone densities occur near 25 km, which is quite consistent with the mean value in the mid-latitude region. Our results from KSR420S-1 and -2 are compared with the other observation data from the Dobson spectrophotometer at Yonsei Univ., the LIDAR at Kyunghee Univ., the SBUV from Nimbus satellite, and the TOVS from NOAA satellite, which were performed simultaneously with the sounding rocket experiments.

Q Estimates Using the Coda Waves in the Kyeongsang Basin (Coda 파를 이용한 경상분지에서의 Q값 추정)

  • In this study, coda Q has been determined by the single scattering model in the Kyeongsang Basin region using the decay of the amplitudes of coda waves on bandpass-filtered seismograms of local microearthquakes in the frequency range 1.5~18 Hz. Reported frequency dependence of Q is of the form $Q_C=Q_O ^n$$(83.9{ll}Q_0{ll}155.9,;0.76{ll}n{ll}1.05$. Considering a model incorporating both scattering and intrinsic attenuation, and assuming that the attenuation is entirely due to the scattering loss, the minimum mean free paths are about 51~56 km and the coefficients of inelastic attenuation(${\gamma}$) are between 0.0093 and 0.0098 were found. Earthquake-station paths pass through the fault zone show high attenuation and strong frequency dependency compared to other ones.

Analysis of Properties of Flake Sendust EM Wave Absorber according to Granularity (입도에 따른 Flake Sendust 전파 흡수체의 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of the EM wave absorber which was fabricated by using flake sendust (soft metal magnetic powder). The flake sendust was made of 3 different granularity by attrition mill. First, we have fabricated 3 kind of EM wave absorbers using the flake sendust and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene) and measured the S-parameters of the EM wave absorber. The complex relative permittivity and permeability were calculated from the measured data and the variations according to a change of granularity were researched. As a result, it was confirmed that the EM wave absorber using flake sendust with the $140{\mu}m$ average granularity has outstanding absorption ability in high frequency range(C band) for the reduction of eddy current loss(increase of permeability) and the increase of space charge polarization(increase of permittivity).
