Water consumption is strongly affected by numerous factors, such as population, climatic, geographic, and socio-economic factors. Therefore, the implementation of a reliable predictive model of water consumption pattern is challenging task. This study investigates the performance of predictive models based on multi-layer perceptron (MLP), multiple linear regression (MLR), and support vector regression (SVR). To understand the significant factors affecting water consumption, the stepwise regression (SW) procedure is used in MLR to obtain suitable variables. Then, this study also implements three predictive models based on these significant variables (e.g., SWMLR, SWMLP, and SWSVR). Annual data of water consumption in Thailand during 2006 - 2015 were compiled and categorized by provinces and distributors. By comparing the predictive performance of models with all variables, the results demonstrate that the MLP models outperformed the MLR and SVR models. As compared to the models with selected variables, the predictive capability of SWMLP was superior to SWMLR and SWSVR. Therefore, the SWMLP still provided satisfactory results with the minimum number of explanatory variables which in turn reduced the computation time and other resources required while performing the predictive task. It can be concluded that the MLP exhibited the best result and can be utilized as a reliable water demand predictive model for both of all variables and selected variables cases. These findings support important implications and serve as a feasible water consumption predictive model and can be used for water resources management to produce sufficient tap water to meet the demand in each province of Thailand.
The purpose of this study was to measure the extent of stress existing in hospitalized patients which might play an important part in delaying recovery of patients. The study was conducted July l0th through 16th, 1975; a total of 146 patients from 2 general hospitals in Seoul were sampled. Questionnaire, formulated by the researcher, were used to gather necessary information concerning stress in accordance with the physical, psychological, economical and social variables. Data were analysed by mean stress score, and the significances were tested by Critical Ratio. The results were as follows ; 1. No significant difference was revealed in accordance with sex, however, male patients showed higher stress scores on the economic variables. 2. No. significant difference was apparent in accordance with marital status, however, the unmarried showed a tendency of higher stress scores at all variables. 3. Significant difference was revealed between the age group of 35-49 years and that of over 50 years; the age group of 18-34, and 35-49 years showed higher stress scores. 4. No. significant difference was revealed in accordance with previous experience of hospitalization, however, the group with previous experience tends to show higher stress scores in all variables. 5. No significant difference was revealed in accordance with the types of admission, however, group admitted on emergency showed higher stress scores compared to the group admitted plained in advance at social and economic variables. 6. No significant difference was revealed in accordance with the length of hospitalization, however, tendencies were apparent that the longer the length of hospitalization, the lower the mean stress scores.
Spatial variations of physicochemical and microbiological variables were examined to understand spatial heterogeneity of those variables in intertidal flat. Variograms were constructed for understanding spatial autocorrelations of variables by a geostatistical analysis and spatial correlations between two variables were evaluated by applications of a Cross-Mantel test with a Monte Carlo procedure (with 999 permutations). Water content, organic matter content, pH, nitrate, sulfate, chloride, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), four extracellular enzyme activities (${\beta}-glucosidase$, N-acetyl-glucosaminidase, phosphatase, arylsulfatase), and bacterial diversity in soil were measured along a transect perpendicular to shore line. Most variables showed strong spatial autocorrelation or no spatial structure except for DOC. It was suggested that complex interactions between physicochemical and microbiological properties in sediment might controls DOC. Intertidal flat sediment appeared to be spatially heterogeneous. Bacterial diversity was found to be spatially correlated with enzyme activities. Chloride and sulfate were spatially correlated with microbial properties indicating that salinity in coastal environment would influence spatial distributions of decomposition capacities mediated by microorganisms. Overall, it was suggested that considerations on the spatial distributions of physicochemical and microbiological properties in intertidal flat sediment should be included when sampling scheme is designed for decomposition processes in intertidal flat sediment.

For the purpose of finding how the annoyance response to aircraft noise is affected by non-noise variables, the questionnaire survey is conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Korea. The non-noise variables used in this research are divided into two categories; demographic and attitudinal variables. The result of the survey suggests that aircraft noise annoyance is not affected to an important extent by other noise sources(e.g., road traffic noise and community noise etc.) and the demographic variables (sex, age, education, occupation, dwelling type and length of residence). It has been found that it is affected to an important extent by the attitudinal variables such as complaints.

Due to the producer-consumer dependency of shared variables, the potential parallelism embeded in the logic programming language has not been fully examined. The method proposed in this paper eliminates the dependency of shared variables by introducing number-sequenced variables in expanding an AND-OR proof tree. Basically, the execution of a logic program can be divided into two phases : expanding an AND-OR tree and proving the tree by matching facts with leaf nodes. In the course of the first phase, a set of number-sequenced variables are produced by expanding an AND-OR tree in the breadth-first searching. Based on the information of number-sequence, each of them is verified in the second phase in order to prove the tree. Consequently, the proposed algorithm can explore more parallelism without the dependency of shared variables.
Sensitivity information has been used for linearization of nonlinear functions in optimization. Basically, sensitivity is a derivative of a function with respect to a design variable. Design sensitivity is repeatedly calculated in optimization. Since sensitivity calculation is extremely expensive, there are studies to directly use the sensitivity in the design process. When a small design change is required, an engineer makes design changes by considering the sensitivity information. Generally, the current process is performed one-by-one for design variables. Methods to exploit the sensitivity information are developed. When a designer wants to change multiple variables with some relationship, the directional derivative can be utilized. In this case, the first derivative can be calculated. Only small design changes can be made from the first derivatives. Orthogonal arrays can be used for moderate changes of multiple variables. Analysis of Variance is carried out to find out the regional influence of variables. A flow is developed for efficient use of the methods. The sensitivity information is calculated by finite difference method. Various examples are solved to evaluate the proposed algorithm.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between women's face satisfaction and makeup satisfaction, to disclose the differences of makeup satisfaction according to demographic variables, and to examine how makeup satisfaction was influenced by face satisfaction and demographic variables. The subjects were 200 women over age 17 living in Seoul and its peripheral areas. The results of this study were as follows: Face satisfaction were drawn three factors. Factor 1 was face contour satisfaction, Factor 2 was skin satisfaction, and Factor 3 was lips and eyes satisfaction. There were significant positive relationship between factors of face satisfaction and makeup satisfaction. Also, the face contour satisfaction was in positive correlation with satisfaction of features, and the skin satisfaction was in positive correlation with that of features. There were significant positive correlations between makeup satisfaction and face shape, eyes, nose, lips, chin, and cheek bone satisfaction. Face satisfaction didn't show significant difference according to demographic variables, but makeup satisfaction showed significant difference according to age and occupation. Face satisfaction was influenced by the facial face, clarity of skin, elasticity of skin, skin color, and ages. The explanatory power of the 4 variables were 24.5%. Makeup satisfaction was influenced by lips and eyes satisfaction, ages, and skin care level. The explanatory power of the 3 variables were 13.3%.
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the conspicuous consumption of clothing and status inconsistency. For this study, two kinds of guestionnaires were conducted to collect data for the conspicuous consumption variables of clothing and status inconsistency variables. Status inconsistency was measured by educational levels and occupational levels of married women and their husbands, the family′s total income. Status inconsistency was defined by the inconsistency among married women′s and their husband′s educational levels, family′s total income, their husband′s occupational levels. In order to investigate status inconsistency effects, when their investment (education0 are lower than their rewards (income or occupation) they are classified as over-rewarded inconsistency, while their investments is higher than their rewards, as under-rewarded inconsistency, and their investments are equal to their rewards, as consistency. The conspicuous consumption variables in clothing were consisted of seven variables; Brand-oriented, Fashion-oriented, Leisure-showing, Leisure-oriented purchase of clothing and Excessive expenditure to purchase of clothing, purchase of Imitation clothing in well-known brand and purchase of Expensive clothing from abroad. Data were obtained fro m436 housewives living in Kwang-ju are a and analyzed by F-test, Pearson′s Correlation and Frequency. The results of this study were follow; When the subjects were divided into three group according to their status inconsistency type, there were significant differences (P<.05 or P<.01) among groups of conspicuous consumption variables in clothing. The groups of "under pivileged" status inconsistency type and "over rewarded" status inconsistency type were tend to show conspicuous consumption in clothing than other type of status inconsistency groups.
This study has a purpose to provide with the basis reference to decrease the housewives' stress and to improve the quality of family life by investigating the difference in the level of the stress resulted from home management according to background variables family cohesion and adaptability and by finding out relative importance of the variables which affect the stress of housewives resulted from home management. For all above the 550 self-reported questionnaires were distributed to housewives who have at least one child with their spouse in seoul. Finally 433 data were used for the final analysis. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows: First Family cohesion and adaptability show a significant difference by the housewives' education level the number of children communication satisfaction. Second housewives' stress is different significantly in accordance with the state of employment and communication satisfaction. Third it showed the lower the family coh sion and adaptability are the higher the housewives' stress is. And more influential variable of the two on home management stress is family cohesion. Fourth The background variables that influence in home management stress were education level perceived life level and age. Last As a result of looking into relative influence of the variables on the housewives' stress both psychological variable(perceived life level) and family cohesion were important variables in explaining housewives' home management stress.

The aim of this study is to find the relationship between interictal psychiatric symptoms and seizure-related variables such as structural changes, regional interictal perfusion changes, the number of interictal epileptic discharges and the presence of accompanying generalized tonic clonic seizure(GTC). The subjects were 75 patients (47 males : mean age $28.3{\pm}7.7$) with intractable epilepsy, Interictal psychiatric symptoms were rated by Symptom Checklist-90-R(SCL-90-R). Each of 4 seizure variables was measured by MRI, $^{99m}TC-HMPAO$ SPECT and the prolonged EEG monitoring. The mean SCL-90-R subscale T-scores and the ratio of the patients with definite psychiatric symptoms(T-score > 65 at any one subscale of SCL-90-R) were compared among the groups with different seizure variables. Demographic variables and clinical variables were not statistically different among the groups with different seizure variables. The patients with right mesial temporal sclerosis had higher mean SCL-90-R scores for obsessive compulsive symptom, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, hostility and psychotic symptoms than the patients with left mesial temporal sclerosis, and they also showed higher ratio of definite psychiatric symptoms. The presence of interictal epileptic discharges was related with higher T-scores of paranoid subscale. The areas of hypoperfusion, the presence of the GTC, and other clinical seizure variables showed no significant influences on the mean SCL-90-R subscale T-scores. from these results, the authors speculated that interictal subictal epileptic dischrages may be related with psychiatric symptoms of the intractable epileptic patients, especially with right mesial temporal sclerosis.
