This study was carried out to examine the Korean housewives' recognition and consumption type about organic and instant food. The questionnaire were answered by the housewives in Seoul, Kyunggi-do and Chungcheong-do areas. 94.1% of the housewives were aware of the organic food and 71.7% were consuming it. However, majority(95.9%) thought the price was too expensive. The biggest reason why the housewives did not purchase organic food was the high price(43.8%). But 60.6% of the housewives bought organic food because of its safety. The most preferred organic food type of the housewives was vegetable and lettuce was most consumed organic vegetable. Instant food was used by 96.7% of the housewives. 29.9% used instant food once a week, and the number of using instant food from one to seven times a week were 73.8%. Time saving was the biggest reason(51.3%) of using instant food, but 72.4% of the housewives did not buy instant food because of its artificial color, added preservatives, and the low safety level. Housewives liked fish and meat products(37.4%) and awareness of the names of companies made difference in consuming. There were significant correlation between food expenses and purchase of organic food, and between housework and organic food, and between housework and number of uses (p<0.05).
This research was carried out to get the basic information on the current situation of personal computer utilization for poultry farm management, and the results obtained could be used in developing of the software system for the poultry farm management. Survey method by interview and mail was adopted to carry out the research, and the total number of data used to statistical analyses was k6 poultry farmers. 1. The ratio of the poultry farmers who had the personal computer(P/C) was about 25%, and the most of the layer farmers from age 30 to 40 who manage the flock size 20,000 or above had the P/C. 2. About 70% of the farmers who had P/C have bought the system after 1993, and 83% of those farmers had the P/C-486 or above level system. They bought the P/C with intent to apply it to farm management(39%) and education for children(31%). 3. About 50% of the farmers who had P/C obtained the relevant knowledge for operating computer system by themselves, and the 33% of the P/C-possessed farmers used P/C for word-processor. 4. About 35% of the farmers who had P/C applied their system to analyse the management analyses, and the sarne ratio of the farmers answered that they didn't apply the system to their farm management. 5. About 25% of the farmers who had P/C used package software, and the company which installed the automated cage system offered the software. 6. Most of the farmers considered the computerization of the farm management positively, and they answered that they will apply P/C to their management actively from now on. 7. About 56% of the farmers didn't think that they had sufficient knowledge for operating computer system, and a quarter of them pointed that the difficulty of the buying software for poultry farm management was the most biggest problem to spread out the computerization in the poultry farm. 8. Most of the poultry farmers didn't buy P/C because they didn't have the relevant knowledge for computer system, but they wanted to learn basic knowledge for computer, and they had the intention to apply computer to their management positively. In order to expand the computerization for poultry farm management, appropriate education system for the farmers from age 30 to 40 who manage the flock size 20,000 or above and the development of the software that could be applied to poultry farm management on the spot efficiently should be made.
soil survey and chemical analysis on mulberry nursery garden were carried out to study the causes of the non-sprouting phenomenon occured seriously in Buy and Ogchun in 1983 and Sangju in 1984. In addition, 115 nursery garden soils taken from 21 sapling produsers in Chungbuk province were analyzed in 1984. The results were as follows, 1. Symptom of dead saplings was the highest in boron deficiency by 59% and the lowest in rot symptom. The rest of saplings by 34.9% were not detected any symptom. 2. The nursery gardens showen non-sprouting phonomenon were located along the stream. As the result, soil depth was shallow, around 20cm deep and subsoil composed with coarse sand and gravels. 3. Nursery soils were mostly strong acid, low in Ca and Mg content, especially B, whereas available phosphorus and potassium were abundant at some gardens, and deficient at others. 4. Application of red earth or borax to nursery garden, especially to paddy, increased sprouting rate. 5. Paddy nursery garden occupied by 52.8% of 60.8ha of total garden area in Chungbuk province. Ninty point five percent of the nursery garden was lower in pH than 6.5, 87.0% lower in K than 0.5me/100g, 40.8% lower in Ca than 6.5me/100g, 94.8% lower in Mg the 2.00me/100g 99.1% lower in B than 0.3ppm.
Korean government has launched a new public rental housing policy for younger generation suffering from instable housing conditions in CBD area. This paper is to analyze the financial feasibility of urban public rental housing projects, based on its cash flows. Urban rental housing projects should find out the way to reduce costs and to secure cheap land, because of the high land price in CBD area and complex relationship of legal rights. Project types are categorized by the land acquisition method and district characteristics. For 10 sample projects, financial feasibility was analyzed. Cash flows were calculated on the design plan and 16 scenarios were made by combining 4 important variables. The variables are increase rate of land price, increase rate of monthly rents, ratio of public and market rents, and the interest rate of National Housing Fund. The findings are as follows. Government land rent-type can reduce initial costs because it is not necessary to buy land. However, total NPV is lowered at the time of liquidation due to the land return. Private land acquisition-type require more initial costs. But the NPV at liquidation time increases with land disposal. To improve financial feasibility, acquisition-type should be preferred in high land-price area and rent-type should be preferred in low land-price area. Among influencing variables, the rate of increase in land price and the ratio of public and market rents turned out to be the most important. Although the ratio of public and market rents can be controllable, high ratio will cause the burden of tenants. Therefore, interest rate adjustment of National Housing Fund is more desirable.
Most of previous studies have proposed representative product categories which are likely to be sold on the on-line based only on the on-line benefits and risks. However, on-line shopping can be perceived another form of distribution channels from the perspectives of consumers. Therefore, in order to identify product categories which have a great potential to be sold on on-line stores, it is necessary to consider the perception and behavior at off-line shopping contexts as well as on on-line shopping circumstances. In this paper, we investigate the consumers' perception and behavior under both on-line and off-line shopping situations and classify them into several groups based on their perceptual and behavioral characteristics. Based on this classification, we empirically examine the product categories selling well on the on-line shopping. The empirical results show that there exist some patterns between distribution channels (on-line and off-line) and product categories. In addition, there are some differences among consumers regarding the perceptions and behaviors at on-line and off-line situations. Consumers who have high preference for on-line shopping tend to buy much wider product categories from on-line.
I began the study to identify the issues related to knowledge. attitude and behavior regarding smoking by sixth graders. which will ultimately lead to the development of a smoking prevention program that will not only help deter school-age children from smoking, but also make them aware of the more desirable behaviors and techniques for healthier life. The results are as follows: 1. Smoking Behavior: Of the focus group. 4.15% are current smokers and 18.23% are ever smokers. 2. Correlation between smoking knowledge and ever smoking: Ever smoking sample($11.10{\pm}3.66$) is less knowledge able than the never-smoking sample($12.17{\pm}3.95$), (t=3.23. p=.001). 3. This study investigates the intake and consumption behavior for milk and dairy products among middle school students in Gyeonggi Province. 'The result of the study is as follows. Only 37.4% of the subjects drink milk everyday, and 56.7% of them drink one cup of milk a day. 69.2% of them usually drink plain milk whereas most of them prefer flavored milk rather than plain milk. Reasons to drink milk are 'want to be tall' and 'good to drink' while the reasons not to drink milk are 'its bad taste' and 'prefer other beverages.' 36.7% take dairy products 3~4 times per week. Male students prefer ice-cream among dairy products while female students prefer liquid-type yoghurt. Most of the students consume dairy products for 'good taste,' 'good to eat,' 'want to be tall' in order. Those who don't consume dairy products say the major reason to dislike dairy products is 'their families do not drink dairy products at home'. As for the health benefit of dairy products, 79.9% of the subjects think that the products are of no effect. When they buy milk and dairy products, the most important standard of selection is 'shelf-life' for milk and 'favorite dairy products' for dairy products. Most of the students think that 'better taste and qualify' and 'better sanitation' will increase their consumption of milk and dairy products.
To investigate the effects of Cordyceps ochraceostromat, silkworm cocoon and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) addition on the quality of cremi during storage, this study was conducted. Cremis were prepared using a 20% spent layer breast recovered protein to replace Alaska pollack with the addition of 0.1% silkworm cocoon powder (T1), 0.05% silkworm cocoon powder + 0.05% Cordyceps ochraceostromat powder (T2), and 0.05% silkworm cocoon powder + 0.05% CLA. All manufactured cremis were vacuum-packaged, stored at $10{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and finally evaluated for their quality on 0, 2, 4 and 6 weeks of storage. The pH, whiteness, gel strength and breaking force of cremis from T2 were higher than those of samples derived from either T1 or T3. However, cremis from T2 showed low shear force values when compared to other cremis (p<0.05). Therefore, the results indicate that cremis contained 0.05% silkworm cocoon powder and 0.05% Cordyceps ochraceostromat combination (T2) may be recommendable to induce customers to buy, thereby, it may be beneficial to both manufacturers and consumers in market.
As a number of people using the internet for their shopping steadily rises, it is increasingly important for retailers to understand why consumers decide to buy products via online or offline. The main purpose of this study is to develop and test a model that enhance our understanding of how consumers respond future online and offline channels for their purchasing. Rather than merely adopting statistical models like most other studies in this field, the present study develops a model that combines double-cohort method with multinomial logit model. It is desirable if one can adopt an overall encompassing criterion in the study of consumer behaviors form diverse sales channels. This study uses the concept of cohort or aging to enable this comparison. It enables us to analyze how consumers respond to online and offline channels as people aged by measuring their shopping behavior for an online and offline retailers and their subsequent purchase intentions. Based on some empirical findings, this study concludes with policy implications and some necessary fields of future studies desirable.
The purpose of this study is to show that, before registration of chronic degenerative diseases and enforcing management system in health centers, the management of hypertension could achieved comprehensively and continuously by knowing the realities of drug-taking and its related factors those who are being cared for in health centers. For one year, a questionnaire about drug-taking realities of hypertensive patient was distributed at 8 health centers in Taegu from March 24. 1997 to April 24. 1997. The questionnaires were then collected and analysed. The results are as follows: Of 691 patients, 77.4% of patient were taking medicine regularly every day. The reasons why patients weren't taking medicine every day was as follows: the blood pressure became normal(34%, the highest of the group), patients forgot(28.2%), it was difficult to buy the medicine(15.4%), there was no effect even though the patient took medicine continuously. The experience of medical treatment outside of health centers was 28.9%. The types and percentages of alternative medicine are herbs (50.5%), health food(24.5%), folk remedy(13.7%). Among them, 44.6% of patients didn't know if the medicine was effective. Medical treatment places excluding health centers was pharmacies(63.5%-the highest rate). In simple analysis, the older one was the more regularly one took the medicine, but there was no statistical relations. Of health activities, patients eating low-salt diet showed that they took the medicine regularly. Nonsmoking patients and those who experienced drug side-effect and those who doubted doctor's prescriptions and instructions showed that they took alternative, excluding modem medicine. Anti-hypertensive drug medication status according to recognition, attitude, experiences of hypertension showed that patients who thought that they should take anti-hypertensive drug during the whole life time took the medicine regularly(82.3%). The reasons for patients turning to alternatives varied. In case of having subjective symptom(34.1%), those who thought they knew the hypertension well(36.6%), they decided to use alternatives. In multiple logistic regression analysis the key statistics were as follows: The older patients, patients who ate low-salt diet, patients who thought that they should take anti-hypertensive drug during the whole life time, all showed that they took medicines regularly. And also patients who experienced drug side-effect, doubted prescriptions and instructions, and patients who had subjective symptoms, patients who thought that he knew the hypertension very well, all showed higher rate of using alternative medicine. In the future, at the health centers, to register and manage hypertension patients effectively, we must educate patients about regular drug-taking, and alternatives without doctor's prescriptions.
