This study analyzed the effect of NPD(New Product Development) strategy and standardized NPD activity on NPD performance in KODAK companies. As a result of this study, companies with a specific NPD strategy that can lead and integrate NPD programs were 48.5% and companies without NPD strategy were 51.5% among KOSDAQ companies, which showed that companies without NPD programs were relatively higher than companies with NPD programs. According to result of NPD performance, success rate of new product showed 51.2% and success rate of new product revenue showed 44.87%, but respondents who evaluated NPD performance as "very successful" and "successful" were 53% based on the study of 77 various industries by Kuczmarski & Associates in America in 1993, and the companies in this study showed relatively below-average marks to the result of the study examined by USA PDMA in 1995 as compared to 59% of NPD success rate according to the 2nd study of best practice in 1995 by USA PDMA(Product Development & Management Association). As a result of testing the difference between NPD performances depending on whether company has NPD strategy or not, it showed a significant difference in success rate of NPD depending on NPD strategy and had a higher success rate of NPD as company has NPD strategy. Although NPD activity does not provide with documented process, companies which follow clearly recognized procedure until individual business for product development is completed were 39.6%, indicating that KOSDAQ companies still have fewer standardized NPD procedure than USA companies with 76% as compared to the result of 1990 PDMA in America. As a result of ANOVA test, NPD success rate showed the difference depending on the presence of officially documented process. As a result of Scheffe and Bonferroni test as post hoc test, companies with officially documented process, carrying out a series of business in a given section showed a higher NPD success rate by 18.385 at the 5% significance level than companies with individual business procedure without officially documented process. The difference of this research from the previous studies is that the findings of PDMA in America throughout the United States were applied to the domestic KOSDAQ companies. In addition, the existing studies related to NPD in Korea were conducted for some limited industries in the past, but this study was applied to various industries of KOSDAQ companies. The implications of this study suggest that it is necessary for KOSDAQ Industry Association or other related governmental departments to educate and guide the standardized process about NPD for increasing survival rate and reinforcing competitiveness of the companies.
Most of the studies based on the outcome of business ethics were mainly focused on financial and non-financial results, CEO's business ethics and practical willingness as a preceding variable for business ethics and its success. There ought to be an implication for this study. Also, as a result variable, the job satisfaction of coworkers is affected by conscious business ethics, but not affected in the innovative intentions. In addition, it is shown that the consciousness of business ethics is a controllable variable, for it affects job satisfaction concerning coworkers, but does not affect general job satisfactions.

In addition, through survey on consumers and interviews on industry officials who concerned fashion brand, perceived success factors were compared between consumer and industry groups. This study selected a total of 20 brands, which were 5 brands per 4 categories(e.g., women, men, sports and casual wear), with high customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in consumer's perspective and high revenues, revenue growth, and profit rate in 2004 in a financial perspective. The survey on consumer group and interviews on officials in industry were conducted simultaneously. One thousand respondents were obtained from survey on consumers and 40 respondents were obtained from interviews on industry officials. Multiple regression analysis and t-test were used for data analysis via the SPSS 12.0 program. The result of this study was as following. From a consumer perspective, respondents recognized that both consumer satisfaction and brand revenues were positively related to brand factors of consumer, product and marketing. From an industry's perspective, consumer, product and marketing factors affected consumer satisfaction as a brand success factor. In comparison of perception difference in brand success factors between consumer and industry groups, industry group was more likely to concern about the importance of brand success than consumers. In addition, the consumer group perceived the most highly consumer factor as a brand success factor, followed by product and marketing and external environment factors, while industry group did in order of consumer, marketing, product, and external environment factors, which indicated significant difference in perceptions of the two groups. Through this study on consumer satisfaction to improve positive and amicable buying behavior and comparative analysis on difference of perception of consumers and industry on factorsfor financial ability and revenue increase, the foundation for strategy establishment of brand distinction in fashion industry can be provided.

The purpose of this study was to examine the area, theme and method of domestic articles on the successful establishment of venture companies, which were presented between 1998 and 2014, according to related basic classification criteria in an effort to shed light on the characteristics of these studies. It's basically meant to make a contribution to the development of research on the success of venture business and to be of practical use for the success of venture companies in our country. After related earlier studies were analyzed, 164 articles were collected, and 64 articles were selected from among them. The articles that were overlapped, not presented or not registered were excluded. The related studies had been conducted by different learned societies that were interested in the same research themes, and the studies were primarily led by the Korean Society of Business Venturing as of 2014, especially by Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship that was a journal published by this society. This society seemed to have taken the initiative in this field. There was a tendency that the related studies increased in number due to the shifts of modern industrial society and the changing policies of the government, as the number of the studies has been on the steady rise since 2012. In terms of method, quantitative research methods, especially descriptive studies, were prevailing. To step up the development of research into this field, a wide variety of research methods should be utilized in the future. As for the sphere of research, the characteristics of founders, strategic characteristics and environmental characteristics were mainly covered as the success factors of venture business. More diverse variables should be explored as well to make more advanced, extended research in the years to come. The findings of the study are expected to provide both theoretical and practical information on the establishment and success of venture business to make a contribution to the development of research.
As urbanization and its consequences become the issue of modern cities, the concept of Smart City comes as the solution. Though a lot of researches on the topic is done, still no clear definition is given for both: Smart City itself and the factors of a successful Smart City. While most of the literature centers the role of ICT it is not a sufficient condition for a city to become Smart; the role of intellectual capital is underestimated. Using a collection of Smart City definitions across the time and providing concrete cases, this research seeks to bridge definition gaps and creates a tool for understanding Smart Cities. Drawing on the findings of several case studies, this research derives several explanatory factors. The citizen's engagement and governance are identified as the two key success factors of Smart City Projects along with ICT and other factors as enablers. The research has purpose as follows: 1) To bridge definition gaps of the "Smart City" by defining the term "Smart City," based on existing concepts and characteristic mechanisms across times.; 2) To develop an analytical tool for Smart City success factors through Explanatory Variables.; and 3) To identify major challenges and barriers of Smart City Projects implementations and to provide recommendations and solutions, based on existing governmental initiatives and pilot projects. The research contributes to the knowledge of smart cities and ICT integration for urbanization issues solution. By applying the findings of this research at the managerial level stakeholders may benefit by getting higher efficiency of the Smart City Projects and by utilizing knowledge and values of a Smart City Projects in a prioritized way.
The present study aims to examine the role of market orientation as an international partnership property. This property, labeled export-venture market orientation, is at the inter-firm level and is related to the new market development (NMD) activities of export-ventures. Specifically, this article is to define the export-venture market orientation; to argue that it is a major factor in NMD export-venture success; and to argue that the resource-advantage (R-A) theory of competition can provide a theoretical foundation for this concept and explain its contribution to export-ventures' international expansion success. This manuscript is conceptual in approach. In their efforts to strengthen relationships, export-ventures may tend to focus so much time on the partnership factors that they miss market opportunities. As a spanning process, NMD should be informed by both external and internal activities. In an export-venture, market orientation helps guide NMD activities from outside to inside and vice versa. As a dynamic and disequilibrium provoking process, the R-A theory can theoretically ground the concept of export-venture market orientation and explain its role in NMD export-venture success. The current study contributes to business marketing theory in three ways: it extends the concept of intra-organizational market orientation to an inter-organizational context; contributes to understanding the role of idiosyncratic resources in export-ventures; and theoretically explains the concept of export-venture market orientation. The present study is the first to extend the concept of market orientation into inter-organizational NMD framework and to examine the role of export-venture market orientation in NMD export-venture success.
Loyalty programs are everywhere these days, and among them, coalition programs, where a hub company makes a network of participating companies and users can collect and use points in a large number of participating shops, are in increase. There is little research on the coalition loyalty program. Using the case of OKCashbag, the first and biggest coalition loyalty program in Korea, this study examines whether success factors of single operator program are relevant to coalition programs. This paper contributes first by turning attention to an unexplored area of coalition loyalty programs. By offering an opportunity to reflect on success factors of both single operator and coalition programs, it will help practitioners in loyalty programs to develop innovative loyalty programs using increasingly sophisticated data collection capabilities of IT.
Due to globalization, more foreign-owned small businesses have been joining the South Korean economy. In order to better support the growth, this study's purpose is to identify foreign entrepreneur demographics and company information as well as entrepreneurial motivations and perceived success factors. To fulfill these goals, a survey of 98 immigrant entrepreneurs from 31 countries doing business within the local Korean market was conducted. The results show that most foreign-owned small businesses are service-oriented and primarily started for intrinsic reasons. It was also identified that the perceived business success determinants that the government can most directly affect are skills-based, rather than infrastructure or financially oriented. Furthermore, top issues include unreliable employees, language barrier and too much competition. The findings of this study are particularly relevant to both academics and policy makers alike because almost no prior foreign entrepreneur-focused research has been conducted in Korea.
Though start-ups by small businessmen are increasing year by year, the success rate of start-ups have been low. Accordingly, it is necessary to look at various ways to improve the success rate of start-ups by small businessmen. Most previous studies on the issue have focused on identifying influential factors that lead to the success and growth of start-ups by them, mostly based upon quantitative perspectives. Few has approaced with qualitative perspective such as actual case studies in academic papers. In this study, after analyzing a wide range of successful cases of start-ups by small businessmen, we will develop countermeasures by business types and suggest practical lessons that can be appropriately utilized in starting a new small business.

To achieve the age of 30,000 dollars GNP, The business with speed will hold a more crucial point than the business with scale, and the mass consumption market will be transformed and changed into the niche market. Moreover, it will not be easy for the company without the peculiar and creative technology to survive in the severe competition. Under these circumstances, The innovative company which knows how to use this new paradigm will select the better position in the changing market. Innovation type SMEs are contributing in maintaining the international competitiveness of domestic economy by serving high-tech and the promotion of employment. Also, Innovation type SMEs have the most important economic leverage in our domestic economy. It's a source of the growth in domestic economy. Therefore, A lot of countries have been trying to support innovation type SMEs (with a small capital and high-tech). And many countries also try to protect and promote the innovation type SMEs. Especially the Korean government is also promoting innovation type SMEs in many ways, because the future of innovation type SMEs are not bright. This study explored the three innovative SEMs and studied 1) entrepreneur characteristics, 2) the industry environment, 3) competitive strategies, and 4) resources and capabilities of organization, which have been considered as the success factors for entrepreneurial firms. This study also holds that the characteristics of entrepreneurs is one of the most important factor to impact the success of innovative SMEs. Most of entrepreneurs have started their business with high education career and field experiences and have high intentions in developing new/high techonologies, challenging spirits, and clear vision and goals. The innovative SMEs with small kinds of products and services, narrow market, and small resources are more sensitively impacted by the environment especially. But the SMEs which entered into market early could have the comparative excellencies in their market to survive and grow in the future. They also have competitive advantages in the market using differentiation strategies by technology innovation. Technology innovation and differention strategies are one of the success factors in SMEs, They entered into the niche market using this weapons. The capabilities of changing organization to their changing environment, the open orgarnization culture, the continuous employment education, and the building the organic organization are also success factors of innovative SMEs. The SMEs with the simple organization structure can make fast decisions and operate with the autonomous and flexible ways. These only three cases will not shown successful factors of over 12,000 Innovation type SMEs in Korea and this study of Innovation type SMEs is insufficient from all aspects. But this study have many implications for the future research and the entrepreneurs ready for their business.
