Development of Performance Indicators Based on Balanced Score Card for School Food Service Facilities (균형성과표(BSC)개념을 적응한 학교급식 운영성과 측정지표 개발)

  • This study raised the necessity of developing performance indicators for measuring the management efficiency and effectiveness of school food service, and as a means of helping its implementation, a balanced score card (BSC) approach developed by Norton and Kaplan was adopted. This study established BSC in seven phases through literature: Phase 1 Defining a school food service and the scope of working activities, Phase 2 Establishing the vision of a school food service, Phase 3 Setting strategic goals, Phase 4 Identifying critical success factors (CSFs), Phase 5 Developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Phase 6 Extracting cause and effect relationship, and Phase 7 Completing a preliminary BSC. The preliminary BSC was fumed into a survey, which was administered to food service related people working at the Office of Education and School Food Service including 16 offices,209 dietitians, 48 school administrators both from self-operated and contract-managed, and 9 experts in areas related to school food service. They were asked questions about strategies from 4 different perspectives,12 CSFs, 39 KPls, and the cause and effect relationships among them. As a result, among the CSFs based on 4 different perspectives, all factors other than ' zero sum on profit/loss ' from the financial perspective turned out to be valid. In terms of KPIs, manufacturing cost percentages, casualty loss count/reduction rates, school foodervice participation rates, and sales goal achievement rates were found to be valid from the financial perspective, while student satisfaction index, faculty satisfaction index, leftover ratio, nutrition educational performance count, index of evaluating nutrition education, customer claim count/reduction rate, handling customer claim count/reduction rate, and parent satisfaction index were found to be valid from the customers' perspective. Besides, nutritional requirement sufficient ratio, nutritional management score, food poisoning outbreak count, employee safety accident count, sanitary inspection assessment index, meals per labor hour (productivity index), computerization ratio, operational management index, and purchase management assessment index were also found to be valid from the perspective of internal business processes. From the perspective of innovation and learning, employee turnover ratio/rate of absenteeism, annual education and training count, employee satisfaction index, human resource management assessment index, annual menu-related customer feedback, food service information index for employees and parents/schools were also found to be valid. The significance of this study is to present indices for measuring overall performance of school lunch food service operations without putting any limitation on types of school food service management, and to help correctly assess the contribution of the current types of school food service management to schools and students.   • We propose some properties of fuzzy p-value and fuzzy significance level to the fuzzy hypotheses testing for vague response data with reflected correlation in survey research, Appling the principle of agreement index, we suggest the methods for fuzzy hypothesis testing by fuzzy rejection region.

A Strategy to Improve Service Quality Satisfaction in Super-Super-Market

  • Recently, Super-Super-Market(SSM) is facing more and more difficult situation due to the expansion of hypermarket and target marketing of specialized shop. In this situation, Customer Satisfaction Management(CSM) is emerging as a core business factor to make continuous growth without competitive exclusion. Especially, the first factor in CSM in distribution industry is a Service Quality Satisfaction. In this paper, with a selection of 3-markets as a sample for the research, I have tried to look for necessary Service Quality(SQ) factors in SSM and deduced Service Quality Index(SQI), loyalty and Index of detail factor in SQ through survey. Based on these results, strategic factors required to improve SQ was found and strategic directions for SQ were proposed through matrix portfolio analysis.

  • I wish to examine plan about megalopolis formation with Japan and Busan, possess location condition that can be injured to center hub of North-east Asia. First for this, through competitive analysis of Korea and Japan in industrial structure, I will search competition relation. Second, examine what exports and specialization industry of two area are, through industrial structure of Busan and Kyushu area of Japan. Third, to form megalopolis, wish to present what business belt that can bind two area. Fourth, I wish to present preview point about this study in the conclusion. Examine from 2004 to 2007 through exports, degree of trade join(combination), index of trade specialization degree, index of Revealed comparative advantage, and etc, for analysis of this study how in changed industry competitive between two countries or two area have changed.

Analysis on the Causes and Countermeasures of Sino-US Trade Friction

  • The study attempts to investigate the causes of Sino-U.S. trade friction in recent years and provides countermeasures accordingly. The import and export volume of two countries, the product structure of China's export, the 337th Act lawsuits related to China, the industries involved in trade friction, and the G-L Index of Sino-U.S. Products are analyzed in detail. The causes of Sino-US trade frictions are discussed from the aspect of mercantilism and trade protectionism, interest groups and governments' trade policies, Chinese product structure, intellectual property protection in China, and performance of Chinese enterprises in litigation. Based on these, countermeasures are put forward. China needs to implement industrial upgrading, increasing the added value of products, and improving intellectual property protection. A trade friction warning system also needs to be constructed. The Chinese government needs to carry out strategic dialogue and international negotiation.

  • According to separation policy between rail infrastructure and operation, the National Railroad Administration was converted to Korea Railroad Cooperation on Jan, 2005. That makes railway service assessment regarded as essential. About this matter, Section 15 of the Framework Act on Rail Industry Development and section 26 of the Rail Business Act shows that the railway service assessment should be conducted every 2 years. The government can officially announce the result and give orders operation company to improve service level. In the first railway service assessment in 2006, the principal railroad lines and stations were investigated. Rail supply service index and customer satisfaction index are introduced. It includes service items of supply, reliability, convenience, safety and customer satisfaction. This study presents the contents of 2006 rail service assessment. Some points of assessment which should be improved are analyzed as well.

Investment Performance of Markowitz's Portfolio Selection Model in the Korean Stock Market (한국 주식시장에서 비선형계획법을 이용한 마코위츠의 포트폴리오 선정 모형의 투자 성과에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigated performance of the Markowitz's portfolio selection model with applications to Korean stock market. We chose Samsung-Group-Funds and KOSPI index for performance comparison with the Markowitz's portfolio selection model. For the most recent one and a half year period between March 2007 and September 2008, KOSPI index almost remained the same with only 0.1% change, Samsung-Group-Funds showed 20.54% return, and Markowitz's model, which is composed of the same 17 Samsung group stocks, achieved 52% return. We performed sensitivity analysis on the duration of financial data and the frequency of portfolio change in order to maximize the return of portfolio. In conclusion, according to our empirical research results with Samsung-Group-Funds, investment by Markowitz's model, which periodically changes portfolio by using nonlinear programming with only financial data, outperformed investment by the fund managers who possess rich experiences on stock trading and actively change portfolio by the minute-by-minute market news and business information.

  • In this paper we applied our previously developed assessment framework to the data collected from an internet security readiness survey targeted at households. We used the assessment framework to compute an Internet Security Readiness index for each household, which was in turn derived from Internet Security Readiness capital, skill, and actual uptake/use of infrastructure indices. We then examined the relationships among overall Internet Security Readiness, and the capital, skill, and actual uptake/use of infrastructure related to Internet Security Readiness. In addition, we explored the influence of Internet usage level and experience on Internet Security Readiness.

A Study on Prices of Owner Occupied and 'Chonsei' Housings by Type and Size (주택의 자본수익율의 변화와 결정요인)

  • The relationships between the Capital gains of housings by tenure, type and size have been analyzed. Major findings are (i) capital gain rate of 'chonsei' housing is larger than that of the owner occupied housing (ii) the small 'chosei' apartment has the highest capital gain rate and the lowest instability index (iii) the smaller the size of housings, the higher the capital gain rate and the smaller the instability index. Even though there is the 'structural change' in the capital gain rates of owner occupied and 'chonsei' housings, they are cointegrated. The capital gain of owner occupied housing is mainly affected by the real estate policies. But, The capital gain of 'chonsei' housing is mainly affected by the business cycle and the aggregate demand management policies.

The Analysis on Social Happiness and Macroeconomics Variables (사회복지에 대한 거시경제 판단지수의 예측 가능성에 관한 소고(小考))

  • In these OECD countries, left-wingers Government focus on unemployment, but right-wingers Government cares more about inflation. It is that inflation and unemployment don't have differential effects across rich and poor and the happiness levels of these two groups are unaffected by identity of the Government in power. The poor people choose to left-wingers Government, but rich people prefer to right-wingers Government. I estimate whether above opinion is correct or not. Especially I check how my results change when I control for aggregate economy activity and government consumption, two variables that could be correlated with inflation and unemployment and affect each Government's happiness differentially. This paper, and I believe much of the happiness literature, can be understood as an application of experienced utility, a conception that emphasis the pleasures derived from private consumption and sentiment of it. In Granger Causality test, private consumption sentiment index related with industrial production interactively in Korea. The business cycles affect on private consumption sentiment index.
