  • RFID events are large volume of stream data which come out continuously. Many studies have been done to detect a business event in RFID stream. However, the existing methods have many problems which increase unnecessary operations when business events do not satisfy minimum conditions. In this paper, to remove unnecessary operations, we define the minimum condition of business events and propose an efficient method that detects business events only when the minimum condition is satisfied. To check the minimum condition of business events, we register business queries in a query index. We detect business events using the query index and bitmap. It is shown through various experiment that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

  • Business Activities usually comprises various types of business processes. However, most companies don't standardize the constituent processes and accumulate them in formal models, so that they have their limitations for efficient process management and continuous process improvement. Recently, in order to overcome the obstacles, the companies increasingly tend to introduce a BPM (Business Process Management) system. The BPM system functions as modeling dispersed processes over the companies definitely, running the processes and improving them. In addition, the BPM plays a role as a platform in which diverse business applications can be developed. Generally, it is prerequisite to define business processes clearly to run them in the BPM. Unfortunately, companies don't arrange the processes systematically, so that they have difficulty in the introduction and implementation of the system. In this paper, we introduce a new type of a business application to support the clarification of business structure and processes in the companies and facilitate the introduction of the BPM system. The new system is a 'job manual system' developed on the BPM platform. A process model modeled in the job manual system can be transported directly to the BPM system in which the model becomes an executable status. The new system's properties including this feature enable to manage business processes efficiently and help users of the both system perform relevant tasks conveniently.

  • A metric is a measure of one factor of a company's performance. The metrics are used to monitor the overall performance of the company for achieving business objectives. Insufficient metrics cannot reflect company's conditions. Therefore, it is important to be equipped with 'good' metrics. This study introduces the concept of metric quality and proposes its dimensions. The study also presents application scenarios that show the role and usefulness of the metric quality.

  • This paper presents a new methodology for business process simulation modeling and analysis based on role-oriented modeling concept. The proposed methodology allows for tracking people and their roles affected by reengineering the business process. It enables one to analyze and evaluate not only work flow, but roles that are part of the flow. A simulator based on this methodology is developed to systematically construct simulation models and conduct simulations easily and efficiently.

  • The increased interest in the market movement towards generic products has been observed these days. Throughout the attraction theory, this study first explains how generic product introduction has an impact on original products. This study also shows how the social conformity theory is empirically applied to explanation of the attraction effects regarding generic products.

  • New product concept evaluation is one of the most important activities among many possible evaluation activities involved in the whole new product process. This paper aims at exploring the applicability of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) to this new product concept evaluation. To this aim, an AHP based concept evaluation model was formulated and explained using an illustrative example. A number of issues were also raised and discussed concerning the applicability of AHP to out problem. Finally, some further research areas were identified.

  • In this paper, we develop a new conceptual framework for finding new business opportunities in the cloud computing environment. We propose a service model framework for cloud computing business. In the service concept of the proposed business model, we categorize customer needs and service offering value, while we analyze customer behavior for developing revenue model. In addition, we analyze cloud computing market drivers for finding an evolution path of the proposed business model. Finally, we develop cloud computing business strategies for Korean IT service industry.

  • The exponential growth of the Internet usage has motivated the launching of many commercial business web sites. Internet as a purchasing medium shows several unique characteristics because of its customer- driven technologies and absence of physical products. Thus, new commercial medium provokes a reclassification of products. Twenty five types of commercial Products are empirically tested in the Internet retailing and found to be grouped into four categories. This classification framework is investigated in the view of involvement and web technology Furthermore, this paper proposes four business web implementation strategies - impressive, simple, sensory, and semantic - based on the product classification. Proposed guidelines on business web might increase customer satisfaction.
