Antecedents and Consequences of Intention to Become a Customer: A Case Study of Islamic Banks in Indonesia

  • The aim of the study was to examine the effect of trust, awareness, attitude, subjective norms, and behavioural control on intention and examine the mediating role of trust in the relationship between awareness and attitude. The population was Muslims in Bali Province, with a sample of 150 respondents. Quantitative analysis is used based on multivariate analysis using the SEM model with a variance-based PLS. The results are as follows: (1) knowledge has a significant positive effect on attitude. (2) Awareness has no significant effect on attitude. (3) Awareness has a significant positive effect on trust. (4) Trust has a significant positive effect on attitude. (5) Attitude has no significant effect on intention. (6) Subjective norm has a significant positive effect on intention. (7) Behaviour control has a significant positive effect on intention. (8) The role of trust is a conscious mediation that impacts attitude. The study provides insight into Islamic bank managers to meet prospective customers' expectations and identify their intention to become customers through managing trust, awareness, attitude, subjective norms, behavioural control, and intention in one unified whole as internal resource. This study enriches empirical evidence on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, which examines knowledge, awareness, and belief.

The Effect of Business Resource of the Members in Airport Special Guard's firms on the Business Attitude and Turnover Intention (공항 특수경비원들의 직무자원이 직무태도 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study has an objective to analyze the causal relationship between the business resource of the members in the Airport Special Guard's firms and its effect on their business attitude and turnover intention. To carry out the study, I established a population of Airport Special Guard's working at the Airport firms in In-cheon, Kim-po, Cheong-ju and Dae-gu. Then a total of 300 questionnaires were sent out for the survey using the random sampling method of clusters. The study was carried out over about four months, from July, 2016 to october, 2016. A total of 260 questionnaires were used for the final data. 40 questionnaires were excluded either because they were not returned or contained extreme value. In this study, a statistical package of SPSS WIN 18.0 were used in the data analysis and the causal relationship was verified using the multiple regression analysis. The analysis showed the business resource to have a positive effect on the business attitude but a negative effect statistical level of p<.01 on the turnover intention at the statistical level of p<.001 and the hypothesis was adopted. The hypothesis regarding the business attitude was also adopted because business attitude was found to have a negative effect on the turnover intention at the statistical level of p<.01. In addition, business attitude was found to have a negative effect on the relationship between the business resource and turnover intention at the statistical level of p<.05. As a result, the hypothesis about the business attitude would function as the parameter was only partially adopted. Through these research result, it was investigated that the relation between business resource, business attitude and turnover intention is significantly effective variable in airport special guard's. Additionally, business resource is the most important.

The Effect of on-line and off-line Corporate Reputation, Credibility and the Similarity of Business Area on the Consumer's Attitude toward the Clothing Products with Brand (온라인.오프라인 기업(企業)의 명성(名聲), 신뢰성(信賴性), 사업영역(事業領域) 유사성(類似性)이 신규(新規) 의류(衣類)브랜드 태도(態度)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study is, to the special company with corporate brand, to investigate the effect of its reputation, credibility and the similarity of business area on consumer's attitude toward its clothing products. It is another topic of the study to reveal statistical significance in comsumer's attitude when naming new product with two different brand strategy. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, there was positive relationship between corporate reputation and consumer's attitude toward new brand and also between corporate credibility and consumer's that. Second, corporate credibility is proven to be grown in proportion to company's reputation. In other words, a corporate credibility is grown with a corporate reputation. Third, the influence of similarity or fitness of business area has a positive effect on a attitude toward new brand. The case of use the new brand name, the variable had low effect on attitude toward new brand, comparing to the case of use the existing brand name but seems to be statistically significant. Fourth, comparing to the inclination toward company's product based on brand name, strategy of supporting brand extension is more effective than that of new brand name on evaluating company's reputation, credibility and the similarity of business area. Fifth, the similarity of business area and the interaction of brand name on the basis of the strategy of use the existing brand name(;brand extension strategy) and new one have significant effect on the inclination to a brand. When participating a new business, it is more effective that a company is extending its business where the similarity of business area is growing. For the case of low similarity, the brand-new strategy is proven to be effective.

Investigating Factors Affecting Attitude Towards Cause-Related Marketing in Korea: Pespectives of SDGs

  • Purpose: In the era of sustainable development, the role of consumers and businesses has become increasingly important by demonstrating the importance of social and environmental issues. Accordingly, firms widely adopt cause-related marketing to fulfil corporate social responsibility. The purpose of this study is to examine factors that affect consumer attitude toward cause-related marketing with perspectives of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and instrumental conditioning. Research design, data and methodology: Proposed research questions include effects of cognition, emotion, sustainability, and business ethics on attitude, effects of attitude on purchase intention, and effects of intention on satisfaction. This study collected the data via an online survey and applied factor and regression analysis. Results: Findings indicated that factors affect attitudes differently in cases of cause-related marketing with SDGs and instrumental conditioning. The results of this study found that business ethics affects consumer attitude and differ based on types of cause-related marketing. This study found that attitude positively affects purchase intention that also affects expected satisfaction. Conclusions: By applying perspectives of SDGs, findings of this study provide implications to producers, marketers, and policymakers to promote and achieve sustainability. In particular, the results found that business ethics should be more addressed to fulfill customer attitude.

The Effects of Uncertainty Tolerance on Attitude toward Business Start-up Trying (불확실성에 대한 인내력이 창업시도태도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the linkage between uncertainty tolerance and attitude toward trying business start-up. Uncertainty tolerance can classify by degrees of uncertainty as risk and ambiguity. We examined the effects of risk tolerance and ambiguity tolerance on attitudes toward trying success and failure. And we also examined the effect of attitudes toward trying success and failure on business start-up trying. This study investigated these relationships using 173 under graduate students. The result of analysis indicated that the risk tolerance had positive effects on attitude toward trying failure, but it had not any effect on attitude toward success and process. The ambiguity tolerance has positive effects on attitude toward trying failure and trying process, but it had not any effect on attitude toward success. The attitudes toward trying success, trying failure, and trying process had positive effect on attitude toward business start-up trying. Then results of this study suggests that the uncertainty(risk and ambiguity) tolerance showed a role of antecedent of attitudes toward trying success and failure. Finally, this study concluded with a discussion of the implications of the research findings and directions for future research.

The Effect of Green Trust and Attitude Toward Purchasing Intention of Green Products: A Case Study of the Green Apparel Industry in Indonesia

  • This study aims to determine the behavior of consumer interest in sustainable fashion products in Indonesia and the factors that influence it. Personal values, Green Trust, and attitude toward green products are studied to get a proper picture of the ethical behavior of consumers. The method used is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) technique using AMOS 23 software. A sample of 103 participants used the convenience sampling technique. The study results show that green trust and attitude toward green products successfully mediate personal value and green purchase intention on ethical fashion products in Indonesia. In this study, it was found that personal values cannot directly influence the purchase intention of sustainable fashion products. The influence of Personal Value must first be mediated by green trust or attitude toward green products to further influence green purchase intention of ethical fashion products in Indonesia. This is not in line with previous studies. Indicators of personal values such as self-transcendence, self-enhancement, conservation, and openness directly cannot predict the behavior of purchase intentions for sustainable fashion products in Indonesia. From the descriptive conclusion of the data obtained, there are various types of meanings of individual values, and fashion consumers in Indonesia are more affected by contextual factors.

Influence of Franchisors' Supporting Strategy on Franchisee Attitude and Performance: Moderating Effect of Competitive Intensity (가맹본부의 지원제도가 본부에 대한 태도 및 가맹점의 재무성과에 미치는 영향 : 지역상권 경쟁강도의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose - This article aims to present and test a model regarding franchisors' supporting activities that may positively influence franchisees' attitude toward the franchising headquarter and their own business performance. Moreover, the authors examine the moderating effect of competitive intensity between franchisee attitude and business performance. Most previous research focused on behavioral performance measurements such as satisfaction, trust, and commitment. There are few empirical studies that focus on financial performance data because it is difficult to determine a relational mechanism between behavioral and financial performance. Moreover, financial data is confidential and difficult to collect in many cases. However, this study measures financial performance (e.g., sales revenue per square meter) differently than most previous research, which is mostly focused on the behavioral performance measurements. Research design, data, and methodology - To test our hypotheses, we selected 137 franchisee managers who are running chains of one of the foremost bakery franchise brands in South Korea. This study carefully investigated the reliability, content validity, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the proposed instrument by analyzing the data obtained from the samples. The data was analyzed using the AMOS structural equation modeling program. Results - The results indicated that: non-financial support activities (e.g., information exchange and communication) had a positive impact on the franchisee attitude toward the franchising headquarter. The franchisee attitude in turn had a positive effect on the headquarters' business performance. Furthermore, competitive intensity could enhance the relationship between franchisee attitude toward franchising headquarter and business performance in a local franchise market. However, financial support activities (e.g., rewards and promotional support) and training had no relationship with either franchisee attitude or business performance. Conclusions - This study provides some practical implications to franchisors in terms of franchise operation and store opening strategies. With respect to the franchise operation strategy, franchisors need to focus on non-financial rather than financial support. Most franchisees consider the necessity of financial support activities and not their sufficiency because these activities are specified in their franchise contract. In addition, it is important for franchisees to maintain a positive attitude for the franchise headquarters. The franchisees with a positive attitude for the franchisor can show a high degree of solidarity for various support activities, and it consequently determines franchisees' sales performance. In terms of franchise store opening strategy, this study suggests an additional criterion that can be considered in determining the location of direct and non-direct management stores (e.g., franchisees' stores). In this research, franchise stores located within high level of competitive intensity are shown to have a high relationship between franchisee attitudes of franchisor support activities and business performance compared to the franchisees located within low competitive intensity level. This result shows that opening non-direct franchise stores is more effective than direct stores in higher competitive market situations. Research contribution, implications, and further research directions are discussed at the end of the paper.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of business startup attributes on the overconfidence of business startup and entrepreneur's attitude in foodservice industry. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 300 entrepreneurs in the foodservice industry through October 1 to October 30, 2012. The results were as follows. First, entrepreneur's characteristics, funds for business startup, locations and products had a statistically significant positive effect on the overconfidence of business startup(p<.05). Second, funds for business startup, locations and products had a statistically significant positive effect on entrepreneurs' attitude(p<.01). Third, the overconfidence of business startup had a statistically significant positive effect on entrepreneurs' attitude(p<.001). The findings stated above mean that knowledge or experience related to specialized management mind as entrepreneur's characteristic factors are just as important, and customers' use and choice of restaurants are also connected to stable management when the floating population of them are located to a suitable place in combination with product characteristics in enough financing and preparation based on this, showing entrepreneur's positive attitude through stable management along with confidence.

  • After defining the determining factor of an attitude on clothing web-site as cognitive responses and affective responses, this study was to investigate how it affects against web-site attitude, brand attitude and purchase intention. To accomplish research subject, this study had an analysis on web-site attitude, brand attitude and purchase intention after selecting 3 department stores having mega fashion malls which run web-sites. Aad(Attitude toward an advertisement) was defined as cognitive responses and affective responses. This research analyzed it by multiple regression analysis after collecting a date from 265 customers who use 3 department stores selected The findings are as follows. First, Aad had a significance impact on web-site attitude across the department stores. Second, Aad had a significance impact on brand attitude across the department stores. Third, Aad had a significance impact on purchase intentions across the department stores. At the end of this paper, discussion, managerial implications, limitations, and future research directions were suggested.

Empirical Study of Chinese Consumers Perception-Attitude-Behavior in Clothes Rental Platform

  • This paper aims to stretch the technology acceptance model (TAM) approach by investigating a clothes rental network. One of the understudied geographies of the world economy is the large-scale international trade in clothes, which are consumed by Chinese consumers. An online (www.sojump.com) survey was conducted by including 303 Chinese respondents. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypothesis. The results indicated that external influence has a significant impact on the perceived ease of rental. Furthermore, consumers' perceived ease of rental influences the attitude towards renting, and perceived ease of rental plays a complete mediating role between them. However, external influence has no significant impact on perceived usefulness, and consumers' perceived usefulness has no impact on rental intention. In addition, attitude towards renting works as an indispensable mediation between perception and behavior. This study highlights the role of perception, attitude, behavior on clothes rental, and provides guidance and suggestions for clothes rental platform.
