  • The purpose of this study was to compared the effectiveness of erector spine taping and lumbar taping maintained in bus driver's back pain. The research subjects were some bus drivers working in Changwon, Masan, and Busan terminal. And we concluded this research; By selecting a group of 15 people taping erector spine, a group of lumbar taping, and a control group of 15 people randomly. Because we measured them before treatment and two weeks after treatment by the time, we could get the results which were as follows. The experiment group applied of taping therapy would be reduced in back pain when compared to the control group. The experiment group applied of taping therapy would be improved in muscle flexibility when compared to the control group. After treatment, the experiment group compared to control group showed decrease pain and an increase of flexibility. In conclusion, we could know that taping reduces back pain of bus drivers and gives a positive impact to muscle flexibility improvement, we finded out a distinct difference between the erector spine taping and the lumbar taping. Thus, the taping treatment can be applied easily to the bus driver and used as a way of therapeutic approach.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the interior elements supporting the safety, mobility and accessibility for the visually impaired persons in the public, government, and other facilities. Ten facilities were analyzed with a checklist based on the architectural codes and the users needs. Also theses facilities were reviewed with mandatory items of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It appeared that the arrangement of elements such as stair, elevator and restroom, the plan of circulation path and the signage of way-finding had more problems than the details of each element. In addition, institutional facilities for the blinds and trainstation provided easy accessibility, adaptability and mobility compared to the hospital and bus terminal. Suggestions were provided to solve the problem which were found.

  • The Payload Interface Unit (PIU) provides the interface between payload equipment (GOCI, MODCS and Ka Band P/L) and the SCU. The PIU is a MIL-STD-1553-Bus Remote Terminal (RT). The MPIU distributes commands to, acquires telemetry from and takes part in the thermal control of the payload equipment. When in ON mode, the PIU is completely observable and can be used for payload control. When in OFF mode, the PIU is non active except the thermal control electronics.

  • A new small signal stability analysis method for eigenvalue analysis is presented. This method is called RCF method and based on the computation of the state transition equations and state transition matrix over a specified time interval that corresponds to one or some cycle operations of the system. This method is applicable to any system with or without switching elements. As an applicable example of RCF method in power system, the one machine infinite bus system connected switching SVC at generator terminal is investigated and the results proved that variations of oscillation modes after switching operations can be calculated exactly.

  • A novel neuro controller based simple neuro-structure with modified error function is introduced in this paper. This controller consists of two independent controllers, known as the voltage regulator and the angular controller. The voltage regulator is used to modify terminal voltage for the purpose of tracking a reference voltage. The angular controller is utilized to guarantee the stability of the system. In this structure each neuron uses a linear hard limit activation function that depends on the controlled variable and its derivatives. There is no need for parameter identification or any off-line training data. Two proposed controllers are merged by a smooth switch to build a complete controller. The effectiveness of the proposed novel control action is demonstrated through some computer simulations on a Single-Machine Infinite-Bus (SMIB) power system.

  • The paper presents an electrical model of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system (WECS) with a variable speed drive, a fixed pitch angle, a synchronous generator as a wind generator and AC-DC-AC conversion scheme for simulating dynamic behaviors and performance responding to varying wind speed input. The electric output of the WECS is controlled by the AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, the objective of which is to capture the maximum active power under varying wind conditions and to keep the voltage of WECS terminal bus at a specific level. Aerodynamic models are used to incorporate the power characteristics to wind speed. The modeling and simulation of the WECS are realized on PSCAD/EMTDC environment.

  • As one of countermeasures for vibration and noise source which come from train operation in subway system, the heavy-weighted tunnel structure and the low-vibration track design have been adopted. In recent the low-vibration concrete track have been constructed to enhance the maintenance effectiveness as well as the reduction of vibration. This paper is explaining and evaluating of the characteristics of vibration and its effects comparing to tile ballast track, concrete track, and full surface supported floating slab track installed on Express bus terminal in Seoul subway No. 7 line.

  • The paper presents a simulation model and analysis of a grid-connected variable speed wind energy conversion scheme (VSWECS) using the PSCAD/EMTDC software. The modeled system uses a variable speed drive, a fixed pitch angle, a synchronous generator as a wind generator and an AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, which facilitates the wind generation to efficiently operate under varying wind speed while connected to the distribution network. The power output of the WECS is controlled by the AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, the objective of which is to capture the maximum active power under varying wind conditions and to keep the voltage magnitude of the terminal bus at a specific level. Aerodynamic models are applied for a wind turbine model. An simulation analysis of the scheme in terms of its responding to wind variations is also presented.

  • Partial discharge(PD) tests were performed when the hydrogenerator(rated 11kV and 25MVA) was shut down(off-line). Six cable couplers were installed in the ring bus as well as within hydrogenerator terminal box. PD tests were conducted using partial discharge analyzer(PDA) and digital partial discharge detector(PDD). PDA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the partial discharge magnitude increased with increase of ac voltage. Slot discharges were discovered in three phases(A, B and C) at the rated voltage. PDA and PDD test results are in accordance with the pattern and magnitude of partial discharge. This hydrogenerator stator windings were in good condition.

  • In this paper, we present a decentralized adaptive neural net(NN) controller for the transient stability and voltage regulation of a multimachine power system. First, an adaptively input-output linearizing controller using NN is designed to eliminate the nonlinearities and interactions between generators. Then, a robust control term which bounds terminal voltage to a neighborhood of the operating point within the desired value is introduced using only local information. In addition, we consider input saturation which exists in the SCR amplifier and prove that the stability of the overall closed-loop system is maintained regardless of the input saturation. The design procedure is tested on a two machine infinite bus power system.
