A HIGH FREQUENCY TYPE II SOLAR RADIO BURST ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2011 FEBRUARY 13 CORONAL MASS EJECTION

  • We examine the relationship between a type II radio burst that started from an unusually high frequency of 425 MHz (fundamental component) and an associated white-light coronal mass ejection on 2011 February 13. The radio burst had a drift rate of 2.5 MHz/sec, indicating a relatively high shock speed. From SDO AIA observations we find that a loop-like erupting front sweeps across high density coronal loops near the start time of the burst (17:34:15 UT). We find fragmented structures of the type II burst, which indicates the signature of the shock propagating through the multiple loops. The deduced distance of shock formation (0.06 Rs) from flare center and speed of the shock (1100 km $s^{-1}$) using the measured density from AIA/SDO observations are comparable to the height (0.05 Rs, from the solar surface) and speed (700 km $s^{-1}$) of the CME leading edge observed by STEREO/EUVI. We conclude that the type II burst could be onset even in the low corona (41 Mm or 0.06 Rs, above the solar surface) if a fast CME shock passes through the high density loops.

  • The satellite communications are expected to play an important role to provide broadband multimedia services in the 21st century. According to this requirements, this paper describes the design and implementation of ATM-based high speed satellite modem ASIC chipset. The ASIC chip consists of three main parts, CODEC, Modulator and Demodulator. It supports burst and continuous mode operation with TDMA frame consisted of Reference bursts, Inbound burst, and Traffic burst. The maximum transmission rate is OC-3 (155Mbps) and the maximum operating clock speed is 220MHz. This ASIC chip was implemented with 0.25um CMOS technology.

  • A new burst mode clock and data recovery circuit is realized that improves the previousldy-known gated-oscilletor technique with half rate clock recovery, The circuit was fabricated with 0.25um CMOS technology, and its functions were confirmed up to 1 Gbps.

  • Known as an important criterion that evaluates performance of future high-speed backbone networks, burst data loss ratio is well-studied in Optical Burst Switching networks. Current literatures mostly focus on reduce burst loss ratio without considering the system stability and link utilization after reducing. In this paper, we propose a novel framework which comes from feedback theoretic to dynamically control burst loss ratio in OBS. The proposed scheme tries to track the pre-set values of burst loss ratio and increases the stability and link utilization degree. The simulation results show that measured burst loss ratio always tracks setup reference with small errors, wavelength channel utilization is increased up to 2% and the system stability is also improved.

  • In this paper, e analyze the performance of the PSS-type Viterbi decoder which can reduce calculations and power consumption using the Monte Carlo simulations. Gaussian and burst noise channels are considered in this simulation, and we achieve that convolutional interleaver can reduce complexity and power consumption in burst noise channel. In order to implement the high-speed PSS-type Viterbi decoder, the architectures of decoder are presented, and we implemented the PSS-type Viterbi decoder for r=1/2, k=3 using the VHDL tool, and prove the decoding process.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 staggered burst 파일렷(SBP)의 개념을 도입하여 CDMA uplink 채널 구조를 제안하였다. 즉, 데이터 채널과 병렬로 파일럿 채널을 두고 셀상의 이동체 들이 파일럿을 staggered 형태로 공유하는 구조이다. 이를 위한 recursive DBCE 알고리듬에 의한 coherent 검출 기법을 제안하고 분석하였다. 본 방법은 uplink 채널 상에서 파일럿 burst가 주기적으로 가해지므로 이전의 오동작에 대해 스스로 정상적으로 복귀되는 특정을 가지며 이로 인해 가우시언 잡음이나 도플러 전이효과에 매우 안정적으로 동작함을 입증하였다. 실험 결과에 의하면 burst 파일럿 개념을 도입함으로써 $E_{b}/N_{o}$가 0.068dB로 무시할만한 손실을 가짐을 보였다. 또한 도플러효과에 대한 실험에 있어서 이동체가 160Km/H로 주행 시 이상적인 coherent 검출 기법과 비교했을 때 required $E_{b}/N_{o}$는 2.0dB 이하로 저하되었다. 제안된 SBP 방법은 DBCE를 위한 별도의 correlator가 필요함에도 불구하고 매우 간단히 구현할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있으며 기존의 내부, 또는 외부적인 파일럿을 가진 다른 coherent 검출기에 비하여 좋은 성능을 가점을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 155Mbps 급 ATM 고속위성 전송에 적합한 동기 요소기술을 제시하고 추적성능 개선을 위한 최적 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 이때 신호변조는 QPSK방식을 사용하였고 수신기는 버스트 모드로 동작함을 가정하였다. 이러한 점을 바탕으로 주파수동기(AFC), 위상동기(CR), 비트동기(STR)의 여러 요소기술 및 방식을 검토하고 문제점을 개선한 방안을 제시하였다. 또한 AWGN 채널 환경하에서 요구 심벌수, 정상상태 안정도, 그리고 하드웨어(H/W) 구현 난이도에 중점을 두어 제안한 각 동기 요소기술의 제반 성능평가를 수행하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATM 고속위성 버스트 모뎀에 적합한 동기 요소기술과 개선방안을 사용하여 수신기를 설계하고 AWGN 채널 환경하에서 제반 연동평가를 수행하였다. 또한 프리앰블의 진행에 따라 각 동기부가 동작하는 과정을 평균과 분산특성을 이용하여 제시하고 수렴확률을 통해 복조기의 동작상태와 수렴여부를 판단하였다. 결론적으로 UW 검출기와의 연동을 통해 셀 손실율을 분석한 결과 본 논문에서 구현한 버스트 모드 TDMA 수신기는 보편적으로 요구되는 셀 손실율을 충분히 만족함을 알 수 있었다.

비행체 진입각을 이용한 공중 폭발고도 계측 방법 (Measurement Method of Airburst Height Using the Approach Angle)

  • This paper proposes a method to measure the airburst height by utilizing a high speed camera. This method might be applied to the test of which flight target is alive after the burst. The proposed method consists of four main steps. The first step is to compute the impact point using the sea surface height. The second step is to compute the height of burst (HOB) by using the distance from the camera to the impact point. This could be different from the real explosion height. That is because the distance from the camera to the burst point is not the same as it from the camera to the impact point. Therefore, the third step is to calculate the approach angle of the flight target with respect to the installed camera. Then, the last step is to compensate the computed height by using the approach angle. The result of the proposed method is compared with it from the triangulation. In this paper, the HOB error is also analyzed regarding the approach angle difference. Based on this analysis, the camera position might be suggested for error reduction.

  • Rotary Compressor has many AE(Acoustic Emission) sources according to condition of parts because it is operated with combination of various parts. In this study, analysis of AE raw signal generated form Rotary compressor which artificially-made parts inflicted abnormal condition was carried out. AE raw signals were acquired form high-speed A/D board, and many burst type signals were observed. By analyzing burst type signals which is caused form internal AE source,efficient AE parameters for monitoring and diagnosis were presented.
