잎담배의 흡습 및 탈습에 관한 연구 (Moisture Sorption and Desorption Isotherms of Various Leaf Tobaccos)

  • The moisture sorption and desorption isotherms of various tobaccos were obtained over a relative humidity range from 0 to 90% at $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. The hysteresis effect, constant and rate of moisture sorption and desorption, monomolecular-layer moisture content, and specific surface area were analyzed from the obtained data. The moisture sorption and desorption isotherms showed a different characteristics for different tobacco varieties. At a lower humidity range below 50% RH, Burley tobacco had higher moisture sorption and desorption figures than Hicks and Basma, while, at a higher humidity range above 50% RH, Hicks had higher values than the others. The hysteresis effect of tobacco were greater in an intermediate humidity range (40-70% RN), and Basma showed a greater effect than the others. The sorption and desorption constant (K) increased with temperature, but decreased with RH, and Burley tobacco had larger K values, while Hicks had smaller K values than others. The sorption and desorption rate of Burley tobacco were greater than the other tobaccos. The monomolecular-layer moisture was 27.8 and 51.4mg/g, and the specific surface was 101 and $186m^2/g$, for Basma and Burley, respectively.

버어리종 논담배용 품종 선발시험 (SELECTION OF BURLEY TOBACCO FOR PADDY FIELD)

  • This experiment was carried out to select the suitable burley varieties for paddy field. Two varieties, two $F_1$ hybrids and three $F_1$ hybrids with pale yellow line which were all early maturing were tested in the paddy field condition. The results were as follows. 1. Va 528 and all $F_1$ hybrids flowered 4-8 days earlier than Burley 21. 2. Leaf maturity among varieties and $F_1$ hybrids were not significantly different at first priming, but significant differences were detected from second to forth primings. (MS Ky 12x JB 7802-30)Fl and (MS Br 21 x L8)$F_1$ hybrids matured 3-5 days earlier than Burley 21. Pale yellow hyorids matured early, yielded high and were favorable in physical properties, but were low in quality. 4. Va 528 and (MS Br 21 x L8) $F_1$ hybrid showed earthy maturing, high yield and good quality compared with Burley 21. So two varieties were considered suitable for paddy field cultivation.

버어리종 담배 포장에서의 가칭 담배 묘썩음병(Pythim spp.) 발생 및 방제에 관한 연구 (Stueies on the Occurrence of Seedling Rot of Burley Tobacco Transplants Caused By Pyhium spp. and Its Control Measures in Field.)

  • Seedling rot occurred on burley tobacco at the early growing stage after transplanting was surveyed in the Chonbuk province, the main area for burley tobacco production, during the 3 crop years from 1986. The incidence of disease was about 0.6-0.7% every year and major causal organisms were Pythium spp. More diseased plants were observed in the fields in which tobacco planted with improved mulching system than in that with any other mulching system. The temperature and relative humidity in the planting hole covered with polyethylene film for 11 days after transplanting were recorded by 27-45$^{\circ}C$ and 75~95%, respectively. The punched polyethylene film mulching field showed less diseased plants than that with improved mucking. In improved mulching system the longer period of mulching caused higher incidence of seedling rot(r=0.74**). Soil drench treatment of 200m1 of aqueous Metalaxyl Solution(125ppm) was effective to control the disease.

  • Nonvolatile polyhydroxyalkylpyrazines(PHAPs) are known to degrade volatile pyrazine compounds having positive aroma and sensory attributes during cigarette smoking. In this paper, the content of PHAPs in burley tobacco leaves toasted to different levels as temperature and time study were determined by high performance liquid chromatography, and was also investigated effects of added sugars, sucrose, glucose or fructose, on the generation of PHAPs during toasting. The addition of glucose or fructose as casing sauce in burley tobacco leaves resulted in significant increases, especially 2,6-deoxyfructosaBine from glucose added leaves and 2,5-deoxyfructosazint from fructose added leaves, in generation of PHAPs during toasting, while control and sucrose added leaves did not observed in generation of PHAPS. Formation rates of PHAPs in glucose or fructose added tobacco leaves, but not sucrose, showed a strong dependence on both toasting temperature and time.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes in the composition of essential oils for the improvement of air-curing process of burley tobacco leaves. From the essential oils isolated from the cured tobacco leaves by steam distillation method, 90 compounds including 15 acids and esters, 19 alcohols, 23 aldehydes and ketones, 19 hydrocarbons, and 14 miscellaneous compounds, could be identified by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Among them, acids and esters were gradually decreased during the progress of curing after harvesting. A rapid increase in alcohol content was observed in the earlier stage of curing, but thereafter, decrease followed until the end of curing However, aldehyde and ketone groups were continuously increased during curing and were 3 times higher in quantity after curing than at the harvesting time. The concentration of hydrocarbons was increased in the earlier stage of curing, but gradually decreased from the middle stage. The miscellaneous compounds were continuously increased in content until the end stage of curing, with rapid increased in the earlier stage of curing.

한국산 잎담배 중의 몇가지 무기성분에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on Several Mineral Elements in Korea Tobacco Leaves)

  • 1978년 국내산 잎담배에 대하여 Ha,Mg,Fe,Ui, Cu, Mn, Zn의 함량을 조사연구하였다. 그 결과 Mg은 5370$\mu{g}/g-7640\mu{g}/g$으로 Burley>Flue-cured>Native의 순이었다. Mn과 Fe는 210$\mu{g}/g-1290\mu{g}/g$, 330$\mu{g}/g-590\mu{g}/g$으로 Burley >Flue -cured >Native의 순이었다.Zn는 50$\mu{g}/g-100\mu{g}/g$으로서 Native>Burley>Flue -cured의 순이었으며 Na, Ni, Cu는 세품종이 비슷하였으며, Na는 200~300$\mu{g}/g$,Ni는 $10\mu{g}/g$, Cu는 7~9$\mu{g}/g$이었다. 이들 무기성분의 함량과 등급과는 Na, Mg, Mn, Ni, Cu는 후옅 5, 3,1등의 순으로 감소하는 경향을 보이다가 박엽 1,3,5등의 순으로 점차로 증가하는 상향곡선으로 나타났다. 등급과 무기성분과의 상관관계는 Hicks, SC-72, Va 115세품종이 Mg와 0.l%수준에서 고도의 유의성이 있었다.

한국산 잎담배의 역학적 특성 (Mechanical properties of Korea Tobacco)

  • The tensile strength (Pm) . elongation percentage ($\varepsilon$) , elastic modulus (I) , and specific volume (Sv) were calculated from the data of tensile characteristics of By 104 .and Burley 21 tobacco leaves, which were measured over a relative humidity from 60 to 80% at $20\pm2^{\circ}C$.The important results obtained were as follows.(1) Tensile strength(Pm) The "Pm"of By 104 was greater than that of Burley at. The "Pm"in both varieties were increased toward the upper stalk position and according to the decrease of relative humidity. The "Pm" of parallel piece to tile vein in a leaf were greater than that of right angle piece to the vein. (2) Elongation percentage ($\varepsilon$). The "s" of By 104 was higher than that of Burley 21. The "s" in both varieties were increased toward the upper stalk position and according to the increase of relative humidity. The "s" of parallel Piece to the vein in a Burley leaf was greater than that of right angle piece to the vein. (3) Elastic modulus (E) The "E" of Burley 21 leaf was higher than that of By 104. The "E" in both varieties were increased toward the lower stalk position and according to decrease of relative humidity. The "E"of parallel piece to the vein in both varieties leaves were greater than that of right angle piece to tile vein. (4) Specific volume (Sv) The "Sv" of Burley 21 leaf was increased than that of By 104. 미가공 잎담배 저장 중 색상, 화학성분 및 끽미 변화 (Changes of Chromatic, Chemical and Organoleptic Characteristics of Green Leaf Tobaccos during Storage in Warehouse)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the changes of chromatic, chemical and organoleptic characteristics of green leaf tobaccos during storage in warehouse. Eight grades(flue-cured ; A2O, B2O, C2L and D2L, burley ; A2T, B2T, C2W and D2W) of green loaves produced in 2001 were stored during 8 months(Oct. 30, 2001 to Jun. 30, 2002) in warehouse of Kimcheon(flue-cured) and Namwon(burley) Leaf Tobacco Processing factory, respectively. Moisture contents of D2L in flue-cured and four grades in burley were significantly decreased during storage in warehouse. Redness(a) values of six grades except for D2L and D2W were significantly increased during storage. Lightness(L), yellow(b) and pH values, and the contents of nicotine, total nitrogen and total sugar were not changed during storage. Irritations of flue-cured tobacco were increased, whereas tastes were decreased during storage. Irritations and tastes of burley tobacco were little changed during storage. The result suggests that the flue-cured green leaf being processed as early as possible for minimizing the deterioration of smoke taste during storage in warehouse.

김치에서의 활성 TMV 검출 (Detection of tobacco mosaic virus from "Kimchi")

  • Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) was detected from Kimchi by biological and serological assay 5. Kimchi samples three month after cooked were collected, and were inoculated on N. tabacum var. Burley 21 and NC 95. Out of 33 samples, 6 showed typical symptoms induced by TMV, local necrotic lesions on Burley 21 and mosaic on NC 95. All saps from tobacco leaves showed the mosaic symptom reacted positively against TMV antiserum by agar gel double diffusion test. Based on the results, the Kimchi is considered as one of the important inoculum sources in Korea.

  • To find out the effect of transplanting time on the autonomic characters, yield of cured leaves and content of polyphenols in burley tobacco, three transplanting time were evaluated. The results obtained are as follows. Low temperature which was caused damage earliest stage of tobacco in early transplanting could escape by vinyl mulching and other treatment. 2. The major polyphenols in leaves were chlorogenic acid and rutin, small amount of scopolin and quercetin were also detected. 3. Chlorogenic acid decreased during curing. 4. Polyphenols content was not influenced by transplanting time.
