  • From now on, the aged apartment or house is expected to increase rapidly. So, we have to build a process of remodeling and develop the new technique. Demolition work is needed for systematic plan and management. However, contractors of the remodeling project established a rough plan and did not consider recycling wastes, safety of workers and structural stability of building. Therefore, we need a step to develop a assessment system, verify and make specified. This paper evaluated how much improve on construction speed, work efficiency, intensity of work and influence with another process comparing the existing method with the new demolition method. The qualitative and quantitative assessment system are developed with these output. The case study was carried out experimental group and control group, based on developed assessment system, which have the same condition. The existing method was made up of 3 steps- 1)Demolish windows, doors and iron goods, 2)Demolish indoor and outdoor walls, 3)Drop the waste. The new demolition method was made up of 5 steps- 1)Demolish windows, doors and iron goods, 2)Demolish the ceiling and wall's finishing materials, 3)Demolish the floor's finishing materials, 4)Demolish indoor and outdoor walls, 5)Drop the waste. Work time, idle time, the character of a work unit are analyzed by mock-up test. This study's output is expected to establish a systematic process of new demolition method and based on the maximizing waste recycling work in our construction industry.

  • For the development of a resource recycling society, it is important to control the generation of waste in all processes such as production, distribution, consumption and disposal, and to recycle the recyclable resources of waste instead of simply landfilling and incineration. However, in order to develop a resource-recycling society, not only emitters, businesses, and the central government, but also local governments need to work together to find a solution. Therefore, in this study, we present a promotion strategy for the development of Sejong City's resource-recycling society, taking into consideration the current situation of Sejong City as well as changes in the government's institution system. We suggest that regionally preparing recycling priority management plan, maximizing waste resource utilization, establishing recycling industry activation plan, and building a systematic and efficient recycling platform, etc.

  • Recently, the amount of the construction and demolition wastes has rapidly increased due to increasing construction projects. In the past, most of the construction and demolition wastes were buried in the ground of thrown away. Illegally, without any treatment, so various harmful environmental pollution problems were occurred. In this study, the domestic data on the amount of the construction and demolition wastes and the disposal methods were collection and analysed. Specially, the recycling and management systems of the construction and asphalt concrete wastes were studied. A new technology and necessary policy for recycling were suggested. In general, the industrial wastes were produced in the particular place, and the amount and the characteristics of the wastes able to be estimated by the studies on the treatment technology. And the investment of the facilities for the industrial wastes have been made continuously. But little attention has been relatively given to the treatment technology. And system for the construction and demolition wastes for the political support and facilitation on the proper treatment and the recycling, the necessary of information exchange system and the manifest system for treatment of waste on commission were recommended, and also devised methods to develope and support the recycling industry. In the future, the subject of study is going to carry out analysis of economic and market in making products.

  • To maintain traffic safety during the target lifetime of bridges, it is essential to secure an appropriate maintenance budget and allocate that budget appropriately. This paper proposes a reasonable budget allocation system that considers various impact factors to improve the conventional budget allocation method simply considering the bridge scale. The maintenance action rate model and the unit cost model based on the prior maintenance history were developed to allocate appropriately the bridge maintenance budget for the total bridges of the management organization with the target management level. A method to determine the optimal budget allocation ratio for each management subject was proposed and case analysis was conducted using the proposed model. Proper budget allocation was made considering the bridge types, current safety level, and service life as well as the bridge size as an impact factor of the budget allocation of the bridge. The developed method can prevent budget waste and provide a rational basis for budget allocation by implementing the rational budget distribution.

  • A unit modular system is a construction method which installs on site by manufacturing 50%~90% of the whole process in the factory. This method can minimize the process in the site and maximize the operation, which will reduce the duration and improve the overall quality. The recent paradigm of construction is to be sustainable building. Modular system can be regarded as a sustainable building construction method because it can reduce the amount of construction waste by recycling partial or whole part of overdue building be torn down. A unit modular system is the answer to cope with the increasing market of small size housings. A unit modular system is the most appropriate option at this point. This research proposes the standard operation and construction process of modular system, which enable to optimal system. A case study of reconstructing small-size housing was introduced to support this proposal. Finished unit modular is the reasonable way. However, 80% of complication rate of the modular is the most rational when a defect occurrence during delivery is considered.

  • This study was carried out to utilize the waste heat from office building for turfgrass culture on a roof garden. Heating system had been installed in the middle of soil profile on the turf areas in the garden plots. The results showed that the installation of heating system increased the shoot density, turfgrass quality, coverage rate, and root length compared with the control plots. The surface temperature of heating plots reached at $10.9^{\circ}C$ when the control plot showed $0^{\circ}C$, however, the soil moisture content was decreased 1.9% by the heating system. When the height of the snow accumulation reached over a 15cm, the it took only 4 days to melt out completely, while the height did not changed those period at the control plots. When the water temperature in boiler increased to $60^{\circ}C$ from a proper temperature of $55^{\circ}C$ in turf growth, the desiccation from leaf tip was started to occur caused by drought stress. More detail research should be followed in stress physiology in turf management in roof garden operation.

  • This study utilizes deep learning algorithms to automatically classify construction waste into three categories: wood waste, plastic waste, and concrete waste. Two models, VGG-16 and ViT (Vision Transformer), which are convolutional neural network image classification algorithms and NLP-based models that sequence images, respectively, were compared for their performance in classifying construction waste. Image data for construction waste was collected by crawling images from search engines worldwide, and 3,000 images, with 1,000 images for each category, were obtained by excluding images that were difficult to distinguish with the naked eye or that were duplicated and would interfere with the experiment. In addition, to improve the accuracy of the models, data augmentation was performed during training with a total of 30,000 images. Despite the unstructured nature of the collected image data, the experimental results showed that VGG-16 achieved an accuracy of 91.5%, and ViT achieved an accuracy of 92.7%. This seems to suggest the possibility of practical application in actual construction waste data management work. If object detection techniques or semantic segmentation techniques are utilized based on this study, more precise classification will be possible even within a single image, resulting in more accurate waste classification

  • With the introduction of COBie (Construction Operation Building Exchange) in BIM technology enabling an automatic transfer of design and construction information to operation and management (O&M) phase, the BIM centric O&M management system development process has been tested on the subject of architectural types of building. However, for now, there is a need to investigate the technical feasibility of COBie application to civil structures including industrial facilities. This study takes both "O&M Guideline for Public Wastewater Treatment Plant" and a real wastewater treatment plant into account for the purpose, in which the latter is intended to supplement the result of the first. The findings are three-folds: (1) COBie, as an asset modeling, is not sufficient enough to encompass commissioning data, (2) more relevant IFC development and family library build-up useful to modeling wastewater treatment plant is imperative, and (3) well-planned coordination and organization of COBie data-set in line with O&M practice will enhance the feasibility of the COBie in industrial facilities. The result could be used for a basis study for COBie application, particularly in industrial facilities.
