Energy simulation tools can provide information on the amount of heat transfer through building envelope components, which are considered the main sources of heat loss in buildings. Therefore, it is important to improve the quality of outputs from energy simulation tools and also the process of obtaining them. In this paper, a new Building Energy Performance Assessment Tool (BEPAT) is introduced, which provides users with granular data related to heat transfer through every single wall, window, door, roof, and floor in a building and automatically saves all the related data in text files. This information can be used to identify the envelope components for thermal improvement through energy retrofit or during the design phase. The generated data can also be adopted in the design of energy smart homes, building design tools, and energy retrofit tools as a supplementary dataset. BEPAT is developed by modifying EnergyPlus source code as the energy simulation engine using C++, which only requires Input Data File (IDF) and weather file to perform the energy simulation and automatically provide detailed output. To validate the BEPAT results, a computer model is developed in Revit for use in BEPAT. Validating BEPAT's output with EnergyPlus "advanced output" shows a difference of less than 2% and thus establishing the capability of this tool to facilitate the provision of detailed output on the quantity of heat transfer through walls, fenestrations, roofs, and floors.

This paper introduces a new method for identification of building energy performance problems. The presented method is based on automated analysis and visualization of deviations between actual and expected energy performance of the building using EPAR (Energy Performance Augmented Reality) models. For generating EPAR models, during building inspections, energy auditors collect a large number of digital and thermal imagery using a consumer-level single thermal camera that has a built-in digital lens. Based on a pipeline of image-based 3D reconstruction algorithms built on GPU and multi-core CPU architecture, 3D geometrical and thermal point cloud models of the building under inspection are automatically generated and integrated. Then, the resulting actual 3D spatio-thermal model and the expected energy performance model simulated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis are superimposed within an augmented reality environment. Based on the resulting EPAR models which jointly visualize the actual and expected energy performance of the building under inspection, two new algorithms are introduced for quick and reliable identification of potential performance problems: 1) 3D thermal mesh modeling using k-d trees and nearest neighbor searching to automate calculation of temperature deviations; and 2) automated visualization of performance deviations using a metaphor based on traffic light colors. The proposed EPAR v2.0 modeling method is validated on several interior locations of a residential building and an instructional facility. Our empirical observations show that the automated energy performance analysis using EPAR models enables performance deviations to be rapidly and accurately identified. The visualization of performance deviations in 3D enables auditors to easily identify potential building performance problems. Rather than manually analyzing thermal imagery, auditors can focus on other important tasks such as evaluating possible remedial alternatives.

Currently, since the total energy amount has been increased continuously, the effort for energy efficiency of apartment building is necessary. Although the previous studies have been focused on the issue. Almost studies are about the simulation by applying the energy analysis tools and a lack of studies have been conducted the data analysis about real city gas amount of apartment building. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the city gas consumption difference according to the exclusive dwelling in apartment building. To address this issue, the descriptive, correlation, analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistics are used in this study. As a result, in the case of annual total amount, the city gas is increased as the size of the exclusive dwelling area is increased. In the future, the findings of this study can be used as a basic material to develop the prediction model of city gas in apartment building.
Operational energy is the energy that is used during the occupancy stage of building life cycle. It is associated with relatively longer proportion of infrastructure's service life and can constitute 80-90% of the total energy. Assessing the energy use in buildings is essential since they are significant contributors to energy demand. In this regard, energy performance of buildings has become the focus of many regulations. This paper aimed to review the regulations about the energy performance of buildings during their operational stage in Korea. For energy efficient operation program for existing buildings, governments should implement policies and support voluntary programs that rely on collecting and managing building performance data and using this data to inform public and private-sector operation and maintenance strategies. Implementing these policies and programs requires tools and processes for collecting, curating, managing, analyzing, and publishing this data. Energy assessment tool, that is a data resource management tool that enables to assess energy use across the entire portfolio of buildings, is also required.
In this paper, building energy analysis and energy cost of power stand up and demand control over the power proposed to reduce power demand. Through analysis of the load power demand special day were able to apply the pattern. In addition, the existing rate of change of load forecasting to reduce the large errors were not previously available data. And daily schedules and special day for considering the exponential smoothing methods were used. Previous year's special day and the previous day due to the uncertainty of the load and the model components were considered. The maximum demand power control simulation using the fuzzy control of power does not exceed the contract. Through simulation, the benefits of the proposed energy-saving techniques were demonstrated.
This study aims to suggest an energy consumption improvement plan for university buildings through an analysis of energy consumption. Upon a simulation of subject building to interpret energy consumption, it was found that 154.07kWh/$m^2$ of energy is consumpted annually. Improvement of design elements can cut down the energy consumption to 135.61kWh/$m^2$ according to an energy reduction analysis related to envelope performance improvement. Additional improvement of lights and heat exchanger can curtail annual energy consumption to 108.32kWh/$m^2$. Also, an analysis of energy consumption while increasing indoor temperature gradually showed that the two factors are in proportion. $6^{\circ}C$ higher temperature requires over twice of the current energy. Based on this survey result, performance improvement due to building management and envelope elements which influence to building cooling and heating loads can curtail building energy consumption.

Building deterioration reflects the degradation of basic building performance including structural performance, energy performance, durability, and safety, and it also includes perceived deterioration, which considers a user-based perspective. More than 50% of the existing buildings in Korea are over 15 years old and public buildings compose 2.5% of all buildings domestically. Therefore, there are several different problems, such as poor energy efficiency, structural performance, and safety. To address the challenges of increasing stock in deteriorated buildings, it is necessary to make decisions about reconstruction or renovation. In this study, we propose a new method to evaluate public building value with a contingent valuation method (CVM). By estimating willing-to-pay (WTP) from users of private buildings in similar situation with the public building, it is possible to compare market prices and calculate a correction factor to adjust the WTP data. Finally, we apply the correction factor to the WTP of a public building and estimate market price, willingness to pay (WTP). Finally, we apply the correction factor to willing to pay (WTP) of public building and estimate market price.

Down through the years, human needs and desires have required a robot system to work at hazardous environments instead. Current painting task is costly and laborious, and it exposes workers to significant health and safety risks. Automation system offers potential improvement in this area and is especially well suited to the outer-wall painting tasks in concrete structures. This paper introduces the result of gondola-type building management robot(G-BMR) platform and mechanism for moving/tasking on building outer-wall for the outer-wall painting. Its technical and economic feasibility are conducted, and it is concluded that developing G-BMR is physically and economically feasible in this research. And we discuss about the future of G-BMR and automation in construction field.
