  • This experiment was attempted to establish the optimal condition, e.g., the effects of pH, interferences of other elements, for the determination of the inorganic elements in the paddy soils by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Inorganic elements of 100 paddy soils which were sampled in Jeon bug provincial farm land were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer in that condition. The results obtained in this experiment are summarized as follows: 1) The optimal pH for determination of inorganic elements in paddy soils is about 7.0. 2) It was investigated that the absorbance of potassium was increased, and that of calcium, magnesium and zinc was decreased by adding of $Fe^{++}$ and $Cu^{++}$ in the sample. 3) It was shown that paddy soils in Jeonbug provincial farm land contain the normal amounts of inorganic elements (K, Ca, Mg, Zn,). But comparing to the results of 1976 year, it was known that the contents of inorganic elements in paddy soils considerably was changed.

  • Corythucha marmorata Uhler was newly recorded in Korea as a invasive species at Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea in 2011 and at Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea in 2012. Adults of this species show reticular forewings with a lot of transparent membranes and also show pterigoid process of paranotum with strong processes. This invasive species was originated from North America, and then intruded into Europe and Japan. This species is presumed became an epidemic horticultural pest at present and it is injuring almost of Asteraceae leaves. It was presumed that the invasion of Corythucha marmorata into Korea was prior to September of 2011.

  • The true bug genus Paromius from Korea is revised taxonomically. It comprises the following three species: P. exiguus (Distant, 1883), P. jejunus (Distant, 1883) and P. gracilis (Rambur, 1839). Among them, P. jejunus (Distant, 1883) is recorded for the first time in Korea. The pest bug injurious to rice culture, known as P. exiguus (Distant,1883), has been recorded erroneously by the previous authors from Korea due to the misidentification, which is rectified here with the support of morphological evidence. All the species of this genus are classified with proper redescriptions, and an identification key to species is provided with illustrations.

  • The outdoor lighting is provided for a variety of purposes, for work or recreation, for safety or security, for amenity and for advertising or display. But the effects of lighting on the natural environment can be difficult to quantify. At present, in many countries, various policies to manage the light trespass from outdoor light have been planned. For example, Model Lighting Ordinance(MLO) will allow communities to drastically reduce light pollution and glare and lower excessive light levels. The recommended practices of the IES can be met using readily available, reasonably priced lighting equipment. So, it this paper, we analyze the effect of road lighting on light trespass using by RELUX program. And then we consider the possibility of practical application of BUG rating in Korea.

  • Paulowina witches'-broom mycoplasma-like organism (PWB-MLO) was transmitted experimentally to periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus L.) plant by tobacco leaf bug (Cyrtopeltis tenuis Reuter). Adults of the leaf bugs were allowed to feed on the witch's-broom infected paulownia (Paulownia tomentoas Steud.) trees for three weeks to insure the acquisition of PWB-MLO and then transferred to healthy seedlings of periwinkle and paulownia plants. In 25∼35 days after transfer of the viruliferous leaf bugs, six out of the ten periwinkle plants showed‘little-leaf’symptoms, while the paulowina seedlings remained symptomless. Presence of MLO in the infected periwinkle tissue was diagnosed by fluorescence microscopy and MLO particles were observed under electron microscope, confirming the transmission of PWB-MLO to periwinkle.

  • As issues on light pollution is being raised recently, movements to prevent light pollution is being implemented by each local government, such as by enforcing the Light Pollution Act from February 2013, in order to require compliance with the light-emitting permission level of existing lighting facilities. However, despite the regulations, no specific measures on products are being prepared. Thus, this Research has designed a light shield as a measure to minimize the burden of the effectiveness and time required for development and the burden of the cost necessary to re-install existing light facilities in its entirety and reviewed the effect of the measure through the BUG ratings.

Yoechon-gul Cave at Yoechon-ri, Gagok-myon, Danyang-gun, Chung Chong Bug-do, Province was surveyed by this author on the 30th of August, 1975. The enviromental factors of both caves checked the siftations for air temperature, water temperature, moisture and pH, as well as the faunae f both caves and ecollogically studieel them. Kosudong-gul Cave (1) The environmental factors checked was the same as table 1. (2) The fauna is 5 classes and 18 species and they classified as Troglobite......2 species-11.1%, troglophile.....5 species-27.7%, and trogloxene....11 species.-61.2%. Yochon-gul Cave (1)The environmental factor Checked was the same as table 2. • A new method for calculation of the the dipole moments for trigonal bipyramidal complexes has been developed in this work. Illustrative calculations are performed on a few trigonal bipyramidal complexes with the approximate molecular orbital and the valence bond method. The calculated values of the dipole moments by the approximate molecular orbital method are very close to the experimental values. The calculated dipole moments may be used to predict the geometric structure of trigonal bipyramidal complexes.

  • The sycamore lace bug, Corythucha ciliata (Say), attacking a sycamore tree, Platatanus orientalis L., was first found in Korea, and was widely distributed in the central part of the country. The adult was milky white in color and 3.0-3.2 mm long, and the matured nymph was black. Heavily infested trees appear yellowish white as a result of feeding by the nymphs on the under surface of leaves.

  • Reconnaissance robots can reduce the danger of hazardous places by providing information before human personnel take action. For the usage, robot platform should be small and light. However, this fact leads to a scaling issue with terrain that landscape poses a huge obstacle for the vehicle. The problem can be solved by the inspiration of nature. This paper presents design of the locomotive mechanism inspired by Pill bugs. The mechanism was designed by the principles of a pill bug's locomotion and experiments were conducted to validate the mechanism.
