Estimation of the Pollutant Removal Efficiency in a Buffer Strip Using a SWAT Model

  • The water quality from nonpoint source run off results from different land use types has been studied. The construction of a buffer strip is one method of nonpoint source pollutant control. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model has been applied to estimate the pollutant removal through the buffer strip. When the non-business land has been changed into grass to form a buffer-strip, the change of land use effects the results of the model according to measures of the water quality. The data from a water level station within the watershed in the years 2006 and 2007 was used for calibration and validation of the model. Under the rainfall conditions in 2007, the removal rates of SS, BOD, TN, TP were 11.5%, 9.5%, 1.2%, and 4.5%, respectively. During the rainy days, the removal rates at the buffer strip were 92.3% of SS, 91.2% of BOD, 82.4% of TN, and 83.5% of TP. The pollutants from nonpoint sources were effectively removed by over 80% as they passed through the buffer strips. Rainfall resulted in soil erosion, which led to an increase in the SS concentration, therefore, the construction of buffer strips protected the streams from SS inflows. Since TN concentrations are affected by the inflows of ground water and the N concentration of the rainfall, the removal rate of TN was relatively lower than for the other pollutants.

AnnAGNPS 모형을 이용한 수변구역의 비점오염물질 제거능 산정 (Estimation of Nonpoint Pollutant Removal Capacity in the Buffer Strip with AnnAGNPS Model)

  • AnnAGNPS model would be applied to simulate the pollutant removal capacity with the buffer strip in the Deachung reservoir watershed. In 2002, 2,270 tons of TN and 221 tons of TP were discharged from the nonpoint source pollutants in this watershed. During the rainy season, from June to September, 66.4% of TN and 71.9% of TP resulted from nonpoint source loads. AnnAGNPS model was also used to simulate the nutrients removal capacity from the buffer strip under the condition that the present landuse would be changed to forest. As the result of simulation, the removal rates of nutrients from the buffer strip of Daecheong reservoir watershed are 406 tons of TN, 39 tons of TP, which means reduction rates are TN 17.9%, TP 17.8%, respectively.

  • 수변완충지대는 토지로부터 나오는 오염물질의 하천으로 직접유입을 차단하고 저감하는 역할을 한다. 하지만 현재까지 수변완충지대 설정에 따른 유역에서의 저감효과를 분석하는 사례는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 SWAT모형을 이용하여 Arcview GIS상에 병성천 유역 모형을 구축하고 SWAT모형에서의 filter strip기능을 이용하여 수변완충지대 설정에 따른 토사 유출량의 변화를 살펴보았다. 모의결과 저감효과가 큰 곳을 살펴보면 대체적으로 토사유출량 관측지점인 유역 출구지점과 가까운 소유역에서 저감효과가 큰 것으로 보였다. 또한 수변완충지대의 폭을 달리하여 시나리오 분석을 수행한 결과 5-10 m의 수변완충지대 폭이 그 저감효율이 가장 큰 것으로 보였다.

Parallel Generation of NC Tool Paths for Subdivision Surfaces

  • The subdivision surface is the limit of recursively refined polyhedral mesh. It is quite intuitive that the multi-resolution feature can be utilized to simplify generation of NC (Numerical Control) tool paths for rough machining. In this paper, a new method of parallel NC tool path generation for subdivision surfaces is presented. The basic idea of the method includes two steps: first, extending G-Buffer to a strip buffer (called S-Buffer) by dividing the working area into strips to generate NC tool paths for objects of large size; second, generating NC tool paths by parallel implementation of S-Buffer based on MPI (Message Passing Interface). Moreover, the recursion depth of the surface can be estimated for a user-specified error tolerance, so we substitute the polyhedral mesh for the limit surface during rough machining. Furthermore, we exploit the locality of S-Buffer and develop a dynamic division and load-balanced strategy to effectively parallelize S-Buffer.

  • 본 연구에서는 ELISA와 면역-크로마토그래피 스트립기술을 결합하여 E. coli O157 : H7을 탐지할 수 있는 면역스트립 센서를 제작하기 위한 제작조건의 최적화 연구를 수행하였다. 포획항체 농도, 탐지항체 농도, 완충용액 첨가제 조성의 면역스트립 제작 또는 운전인자들의 최적화 조건을 결정하였다. 포획항체의 농도는 1 mg/mL를 최적 조건으로 선정하였고, 탐지항체의 최적 농도도 1 mg/mL로 결정하였다. 비특이적 결합을 방지하기 위한 시료 희석용 완충용액의 첨가제 조성으로는 0.5% Tween 20와 3% BSA 혼합 사용을 선정하였다.

  • 電壓條件 永動時間 및 支持電解質溶液의 pH가 Al ion의 paper electrophoresis에 미치는 影響을 closed horizontal type의 泳動裝置를 써서 Michaelis buffer soln.으로 飽和시킨 paper strip에서 實驗的으로 檢討하였다. 그 結果 Al ion에 가장 適合한 pH, 電壓 및 泳動時間을 決定하였으며 pH=2.38에서 Al ion의 mobility는 $(1.004{\pm}0.0020){\times}10^{-4}\;cm^2\;sec^{-1}\;volt^{-1},\;Al(NO_3)_3\;soln.$의 isoelectric point는 pH=3.23 임을 알았다.

설계점 및 탈설계점에서의 rotor-stator 상호작용에 의한 비정상 천이 경계층의 수치해석적 연구 (Unsteady Transitional Boundary Layer due to Rotor Stator Interaction at Design and Off Design Operations)

  • The unsteady transitional boundary layer due to rotor-stator interaction was studied at two operation points, the design and one off design points. The off design point leads to lower blade loading and lower Reynolds number. A Navier-Stokes code developed in the previous study was parallelized to expedite computations. A low Reynolds number turbulence model was used to close the momentum equations. All computations show good agreement with experimental data. The wake induced transitional strip on the suction side of the stator is clearly captured at design point operation. There is no noticeable change in shape and phase angle of the wake induced strip even in the laminar sublayer. The wake induced transitional strip at off design point shows more complex structure. The wake induced transitional strip is observed only in the turbulent layer, and becomes obscure in the laminar sublayer and buffer layer. This behavior is probably consequent upon that the transition is governed by both wake induced strip and natural transition mechanism by Tollmien-Schlichting wave.

  • Diffuse pollution has been considering as a major source of the quality deterioration of water resources. The establishment of riparian vegetation strips of buffers along those areas of water bodies is used to reduce the threat of diffuse pollution. Remote sensing offers a means by which critical areas could be identified, so that subsequent action toward the establishment of riparian zones can be taken. Even though the principal purpose of this research comes from the feasibility of the imagery of KOMPSAT-2 satellite, Landsat TM satellite data, which has 7 bands, are used to characterize the land cover for the study area on the behalf of KOMPSAT-2. This investigation focuses on the assessment of the existing riparian buffer zones for a portion of the upper Geum river watershed from the viewpoint of pollution mitigation by riparian vegetation strip establishment. Through comparing the delineation of riparian buffer zones developed with the existing zones established by the government, we can find the critical distortion points of the existing riparian buffer zone.

분포형 유역모델을 이용한 식생여과대의 오염부하 저감효과 분석 (Evaluation of Pollution Loads Removal Efficiency of Vegetation Buffer Strips Using a Distributed Watershed Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 강원도 평창군 대관령면에 위치한 산지초지와 초지의 말단에 조성한 식생여과대(Vegetation Buffer Strip, VBS)에 분포형 유역모델 CAMEL을 적용하였다. 그리고 이를 통해 확보한 매개변수를 초지와 식생여과대로 구분한 다수의 시험격자에 적용하여 다양한 인자들에 의한 식생여과대 오염부하 저감효과를 평가하였다. 시험격자를 이용한 시나리오 모의결과, 식생여과대에서 강우의 직접유출량은 식생여과대 폭이 넓어질수록 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 전반적으로 경사가 높을수록 오염물질의 저감효율은 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 유사의 경우, 식생여과대 폭에 따른 저감효율은 전반적으로 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. TOC와 TN의 경우, 시험격자의 경사가 $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$일 때, 식생여과대 폭에 따른 저감효율은 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 경사가 $30^{\circ}$일 때 식생여과대 폭이 좁을수록 높은 저감효율을 보였다. 반면, TP의 경우, 양토(Loam)에서의 저감효율은 전반적으로 높지만, 사양토(Sandy loam)에서는 경사가 $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$일 때 식생여과대 폭이 넓을수록 높은 저감효율을 보이는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 TOC와 TN의 모의결과와는 상반되는 결과로 대부분 입자성 물질로 존재하는 인의 경우 지표면에서의 포착현상으로 인해 길이에 따라 비례적으로 저감효율이 높아지는 경향을 보이는 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구에서 구축한 모델은 향후 비점오염물질의 유출을 효과적으로 저감할 수 있는 식생여과대 조성을 위한 기준 등을 제안하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Development of Rapid Immune-gold Strip Kit for On-Site Diagnosis of Tomato spotted wilt virus

  • A rapid, user-friendly and simple immune-chromatographic dipstick kit named 'rapid immune-gold strip' (RIGS) kit was developed in a novel single strip format to detect on-site detection of Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV). Immunoglobulin G (IgG) from polyclonal antisera raised in rabbits against TSWV was purified through protein-A affinity chromatography and then the purified TSWV-IgG was conjugated to colloidal gold nano-particles which served as a test line on nitrocellulose membrane. Protein A that non-specifically binds to TSWV antibody was used as a control line on the same strip. The diagnosis process with the TSWV-RIGS involves simply grinding the suspect plant sample in a bag that contains the extraction buffer and inserting the strip the bag. Results can be seen in 2-5 minutes. The flow of the complexes of gold particles coated with TSWV-IgG and a crude sap from TSWV-infected pepper, tobacco and tomato plants resulted in intensive color formed on the test lines proportional to the concentrations of TSWV. The RIGS-TSWV kit did not show any cross-reactions against other tomato-infecting viruses unrelated to TSWV. These results indicate that the TSWV-RIGS kit is highly sensitive and is not required for laboratory training and experience prior to testing. The TSWV-RIGS kit is suitable for on-site detection of suspect TSWV-infected plants as well as for laboratory diagnosis.
