야생 둥굴레의 뿌리와 배양토에 따른 대량번식과 부정아 발생 (Adventitious Bud Formation and Mass Propagation by Root and Propagation Medium of Wild Polygonatum odoratum Druce)

  • 새 번식방법 개발을 위해 둥굴레 뿌리는 눈이 없어도 부정아가 발생된다는 점에 착안하여 뿌리길이와 굵기에 대한 부정아 발생에 관한 시험 연구를 한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1년차는 뿌리길이가 5cm 경우 66.5%지만 15cm에서는 113% 부정아 발생되었고, 뿌리의 굵기 5mm이하는 98.3%지만 10mm이상은 113.3%로 46.7% 차이를 보였다. 2년차는 부정아 생성률은 15cm에서는 1년차의 3배, 시험구 설치 당시 전혀 눈이 없는 상태에서 4배의 증식을 보였다. 용토는 일반토양 2.6배 보다 모래나 펄라이트가 3.1~3.3배 증식 되었다. 대량번식을 위한 가장 좋은 방법은 10mm 둥굴레 뿌리를 5cm로 절단하여 모래에 식재하는 방법으로 판단된다.

Comparison of Two pMDIs in Adult Asthmatics: A Randomized Double-Blind Double-Dummy Clinical Trial

  • Background: Only a few studies directly compared the therapeutic efficacy and safety of two pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs) in asthma. We analyzed the asthma treatment outcomes, safety, and patient preferences using formoterol/beclomethasone (FORM/BDP), a pMDI with extra-fine particles, compared with formoterol/budesonide (FORM/BUD), another pMDI with non-extra-fine particles. Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, double-dummy parallel group study, 40 adult asthmatics were randomized to FORM/BDP group (n=18; active FORM/BDP and placebo FORM/BUD) or FORM/BUD group (n=22; active FORM/BUD and placebo FORM/BDP). During the two visits (baseline and end of 8-week treatment), subjects were asked to answer questionnaires including asthma control test (ACT), asthma control questionnaires (ACQ), and Quality of Life Questionnaire for Adult Korean Asthmatics (QLQAKA). Lung function, compliance with inhaler, and inhaler-handling skills were also assessed. Results: Ten subjects in the FORM/BDP group and 14 in the FORM/BUD group completed follow-up visits. ACT, ACQ, QLQAKA (a primary outcome), and adverse events did not differ between two groups. We found that the increase in forced expiratory volume in 1 second/forced vital capacity and forced expiratory flow at 25% to 75% of the pulmonary volume in the FORM/BDP group was higher than in the FORM/BUD group. Regarding preference, subjects responded that the flume velocity of FORM/BDP was higher, but more adequate than that of FORM/BUD. They also answered that FORM/BDP reached the trachea and bronchus and irritated them significantly more than FORM/BUD. Conclusion: The use of pMDI with extra-fine particles may relieve small airway obstruction more than the one with non-extra-fine particles despite no significant differences in overall treatment outcomes. Some asthmatics have a misconception about the adequacy of high flume velocity of pMDIs.

적심에 의한 콩의 영양생장과 특성의 변화 (Alteration of Vegetarltive and Agronomic Attributes of Soybeans by Terminal Bud Removal)

  • 적심처리에 의한 영양생장의 변화 및 수량관련형질들의 차이를 구명키 위해 초형이 다른 황금콩, 단엽콩, 장백콩, 수원 119호 등 4품종을 60 $\times$ 15cm 1주 2개체의 재식밀도로 5월 11일에 파종하여 본엽 5매시 적심처리를 하였으며 대조로 무처리를 두었다. 생육시기별 엽건물중과 엽면적, 성숙기의 제반특성 및 수양관련형질들을 상호 비교하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 적심처리에 의해 개체당 분지엽면적 및 분지엽건중이 급증하였으나 총엽면적 및 엽건중은 무처리에 비해 모든 품종 공히 차리가 없었다. 2. 모든 품종에서 적심처리로 분지생육 및 발달이 조장되어 개체당 절수가 무적심에 비해 증가되었다. 3. 적심처리로 주경의 협당입수는 차이가 없었으나 무적심에 비해 분핵의 협당립수가 현저히 줄어, 개체의 평균협당립수의 감소를 초래하였다. 4. 적심처리로 분지협수가 증가하여 무적심 비해 개체당 협수가 증가되었다. 5. 현재의 적파표준재식밀도하에서는 100입중 및 수량에서 적심처리효과가 나타나지 않았다.

  • To clarify the morphological characteristics of Korean ginseng cultivated, the shapes and frequencies of Inflorescence, flowering bud, fruit, and leaf were investigated. The shapes of inflorescence, flowering bud and fruit, and leaf were divided into 6, 3, and 7 groups, respectively. The frequencies of these shapes were not significantly different according to the planting positions.

Effects of Package Materials on Quality Change of Pine Bud Beverage Under Ultraviolet Light

  • The effects of packaging materials on preserving the functional component of pine bud beverage stored under UV (ultraviolet) light exposure conditions were studied. The order of UV light blocking properties of the selected packages was: opaque can> opaque PET (polyethylene terepthalate) with green lamination=transparent PET with 10% PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) blending> transparent PET, and did not depend on film thickness in specified range. At 20${^{\circ}C}$, the order of preserving degree of original color and endobornyl acetate, which is quality index of pine bud beverage, was the same as above. Exposure to UV light can cause of deterioration of functional food components, but green color lamination and blending of PEN materials with transparent PET help to preserve the UV sensitive pine bud beverage components. However, the treated PET bottles have poorer preservation capabilities than the opaque cans. Transparent PET with PEN blending, in particular, will be very useful packaging material for colorful functional beverage preservation by helping to protect the ingredients while attracting consumer attention.

초란의 생장점배양에 관한 연구 (II) 배양생장점에서 원혼체의 발생과정 (Studies on the Mericlonal Protocorm of Orchid (II) Protocorm development from cultured explants)

  • Using several varieties of Cymbidium, investigations were carried out to make clear how the protocormic tissue develops from the cultured explant. Explant to be cultured were prepared in several ways: exclusively apical meristem, apical meristem dissected out with the basal part attached, axillary bud primordia in their initial stage of development, or apical or axillary bud dissected out as a whole etc. It was observed that protocorms or protocormic tissues were developed from the explant's meristematic tissues regardless of where these tissues were located. Apical meristem, leaf primordia, leaf axil, or internodal part of young bud turned easily protocormic, while the scaly leaves of axillary bud or stem tissue of mother shoot turned quickly brwonish and died away. Both in axillary and apical bud explant alike, whether they were cultured whole or divided, some took quickly green color while others were slower, and some developed protocorms easily while others remained unchanged for months. Varietal difference as well as environmental factors seemed to be responsible for it. Further details should be clarified by histogenetical investigations.

  • Virus disease occurred up to 62% in average in the greenhouse production of table tomato Seokwang in Suwon, Korea. From symptomatic transition of the labeled tomatoes, two different symptoms, mosaic and bud necrosis, were developed independently. Cucumber mosaic virus necrosis strain (CMV-N) was isolated from table tomato showing bud necrosis symptoms. The isolate caused the bud necrosis on four tomato cultivars and locally infected Chenopodium spp. and Vicia faba by mechanical inculation. The 5th RNA segment, satellite RNA, was identified from CMV-N-infected plants by dsRNA analysis. Crystals of virus particles were observed in cytosols and vacuoles. The virus particles of CMV-N presented abundantly in xylem vessel.

생쥐의 유선발달에 있어서 Elvax 40P Implant를 이용한 서방형 Adenosine의 역할 (Effect of Sustained-Release of Adenosine by Elvax 40P Implant on Mouse Mammary Development)

  • To examine local response of adenosie(purine nucleoside) on the developing mammary gland, Elvax 40P implants containing adenosine were surgically implanted into mammary fat pad of the five week old female ICR mice. Inguinal(the 4th) mammary glands of anesthetized mice were exposed andplaced the implants for 12 days. One gland was treated with an adenosine implant, while the contralateral gland received a blank implant as control. For whole-mount preparations, glands were stained with alum carmine, and for histological observation, micro-selected mammary glands were stained with hematoxylin and eosin Y. Implantation with Elvax 40P did not affect on the damage of neighboring mammary tissue. Adenosie 25 or 250$\mu\textrm{g}$ per slow-release implant stimulated local mammary end bud formation of ovariectomized mice such as end bud size and numbers of end bud per gland in a dose dependent manner(P<0.05), and lower concentration of adenosie(2.5 or 25$\mu\textrm{g}$/implant) increased numbers of end bud(P<0.05) and end bud size(P<0.1) of intact mice. Adenosine treatment and intact ovarian function had moderate interation effects on the stimulation of end bud formation at 2.5$\mu\textrm{g}$ adenosine/implant(P<0.1). In histological observation, adenosine implants increased numbers of mammary epithelial type of cells at mammary duct in the presence or absece ofovary. These results indicate that adenosine should be one of regulators in mouse mammary ductal growth.

  • Saccharomyces cerevisiae 의 mother cell과 daughter cell 의 연결 부위의 원형질막 바로 안쪽에 존재하는 10-nm filament ring 은 세포형태 형성과정에 중요한 역할을 하리라 간주되나 그 명확한 생성기작과 기능은 밝혀지지 않았다. 본연구에서는 CDC12 유전자로부터 gene fusion technique 을 이용하여 CDC12 단백질을 만들고 이로부터 항체를 형성하였다. 이항체를 이용하여 10-nm filament ring 의 생성기작과 기능에 대하여 연구하였다. 그 결과 CDC12 단백질은 cell cycle 전주기동안 항상 정이되나 bud 가 나오기 바고 직전에 bud 가 나올 부위에 polymerization 되었다가 세포질분열 바로 직후에 unpolymerization 되며 cytoskeletal element 의 일종인 actin 과는 무관하게 행동하는 건이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 10-nm filament 는 bud 가 나올 부위의 올바른 선정과 세포질 분열에 중요한 역할을 하리라 간주된다.

  • Twin-bud seedlings and four-leaflet seedlings of ginseng were found and transplanted to field and their growth characteristics were investigated. 1. Appearance frequencies of twin-bud and four-leaflet seedlings were 0.3 and 0.4 percent, respectively, in common nursery bed: and were 6.6 and 28.4 percent, respectively, in polystem line. 2. Generally, the growth of twin.bud and four-leaflet seedlings were better than those of common seedlings both in aerial part and in root. Root weights of both type seedlings exceeded the common ones by 66 and 38 percent, respectively. 3. When they became two-year-old plants, leafiet number of common plant was 11.6, and those of twin-bud and four-leaflet-seedling plants were 18.1 and 13.8, respectively. There were no inflorescence in twin-bud-seedling plant, but the ratios of in florescent Plant in four-leaflet.seedling and common plant were 44.0 and 12.5 percent, respectively. 4. In two-year-old plant, root weights of twin-bud and four-leaflet-seedling plants were heavier than those of common ones by 27 and 20 percent, respectively.
