In the fields of civil engineering and seismology, it is essential to detect and tracking the vibrations, and the fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are typically used as sensors to measure vibrations. Where, one of the most popular and detailed approaches to use FBGs as vibration sensors involves the use of cantilever beam designs, which adds a mass to measure low and moderate frequencies (from 20 Hz up to 1 kHz) with high sensitivities (greater than 10 pm/g). The design consists of a bending strain in the cantilever that is simultaneously transferred to the FBG, resulting in a shift in the wavelength that is proportional to the strain experienced by the cantilever. In this work, we present the experimental results of a vibration sensor design using a cantilever beam to generate an axial uniform strain in the FBG in-line with the vertical axis, which modifies the cantilever's natural frequency that allows the sensor to have a wide frequency broadband without losing sensitivity. This sensor achieved a sensitivity of about 339 pm/g and a natural frequency of 227.3 Hz. The presented design compared with the traditional cantilever beam-based FBG vibration sensors, has the advantages of a simple design for detection on vibration-sensitive structures and its physical parameters can be easily modified in order to satisfy the requirements of the desired vibration measurements.
In this paper, we propose a wavelet-based detection method to identify efficiently the time-delay or multipath channel of ocean acoustic signals due to complex ocean medium and boundary layers. Our proposed method employs wavelet packet transform to analyze the received broadband acoustic signals and applies the matched filter to determine the time region of interest. Also, we present numerical testing that results on both the simulated and real data revealed the efficiency of this method in time-delay estimation and moreover its capability in estimating the time-delay of individual path in multipath channel, in which the arrival patterns are too close to be separated by the matched filter method.

Time Domain Reflectometry(TDR) using microwave bands, including broadband spectrum that occurs at the range of rates that start between partial discharge position it easier to make the techniques that could be measured. Partial discharge in the Gas Insulated Switchgear(GIS), the dielectric constant in the band more than GHz different the insulating material if you want to organize, and the insulating material regardless of how partial discharge position in the SF6 gas Partial Discharge by applying the heritability estimated its position, but the position error occurred about 23 percent of the existing way, correct in not suitable location tracking the outbreak PD. This technique the rate of other dielectric that make up the power apparatus heterology is measured at the function to slow the progression of the electromagnetic waves apart by calculating the partial discharge as the location, A simple way to track. Dielectric using other methods proposed new structure can calculate the speed of heritability PD is occurring can measure.

In tnis paper, the CRC-CCITT code and primitive polynomial CRC code are selected for analysing error detecting performance. However, general formulas for obtaining the weight distribution of these two CRC codes are not so far dericed. So, a new method for calculating the weight distribution of the shortened cyclic Hamming code is presented and an undetected error probability of these two codes is obtained when used in cell of ATM for broadband ISDN user-network interface. Consequently, we show that CRC code too much does affect its error detection performance. All the computer simulation is performed by IBM PC/AT.

This paper addresses the problem of signal acquisition with a sparse representation in a given orthonormal basis using fewer noisy measurements. The authors formulate the problem statement for randomly measuring with strong signal noise. The impact of white Gaussian signals noise on the recovery performance is analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for the reasonable design of the measurement matrix. With the idea that the measurement matrix can be adapted for noise suppression in the adaptive CS system, an adapted selective compressive sensing (ASCS) scheme is proposed whose measurement matrix can be updated according to the noise information fed back by the processing center. In terms of objective recovery quality, failure rate and mean-square error (MSE), a comparison is made with some nonadaptive methods and existing CS measurement approaches. Extensive numerical experiments show that the proposed scheme has better noise suppression performance and improves the support recovery of sparse signal. The proposed scheme should have a great potential and bright prospect of broadband signals such as biological signal measurement and radar signal detection.
The laser ultrasonic technique is gaining popularity for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applications because it is a noncontact and couplant-free method and can inspect a target from a remote distance. For the conventional laser ultrasonic techniques, a pulsed laser is often used to generate broadband ultrasonic waves in a target structure. However, for crack detection using nonlinear ultrasonic modulation, it is necessary to generate narrowband ultrasonic waves. In this study, a pulsed laser is shaped into dual-line arrays using a spatial mask and used to simultaneously excite narrowband ultrasonic waves in the target structure at two distinct frequencies. Nonlinear ultrasonic modulation will occur between the two input frequencies when they encounter a fatigue crack existing in the target structure. Then, a nonlinear damage index (DI) is defined as a function of the magnitude of the modulation components and computed over the target structure by taking advantage of laser scanning. Finally, the fatigue crack is detected and localized by visualizing the nonlinear DI over the target structure. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are performed to examine the possibility of generating narrowband ultrasonic waves using the spatial mask. The performance of the proposed fatigue crack localization technique is validated by conducting an experiment with aluminum plates containing real fatigue cracks.
Several types of cymbal transducers used for underwater detection have been studied. Representative types are Moonie, convex cymbal, and concave cymbal transducers. In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of these three types of transducers for underwater broadband projectors and compared them together. First, the influence of structural variables on the acoustic characteristics of the transducers was analyzed. Based on this, we derived the structure of each transducer type to have a specific center frequency and the maximum bandwidth. As a result of comparing the performance of the optimized transducers, the convex cymbal transducer turned out to be best in terms of both broad bandwidth and high power.
The Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS) lies between the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) boundaries of Korea, Japan, and China. The geographical positioning of the IORS makes it ideal for monitoring ships in the area. In this study, we introduce ship monitoring results by Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Broadband 3GTM radar, which has been developed for use in small ships using the Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technique. AIS and FMCW radar data were collected at IORS from November 23th to 30th, 2013. The acquired FMCW radar data was converted to 2-D binary image format over pre-processing, including the internal and external noise filtering. The ship positions detected by FMCW radar images were passed into a tracking algorithm. We then compared the detection and tracking results from FMCW radar with AIS information and found that they were relatively well matched. Tracking performance is especially good when ships are across from each other. The results also show good monitoring capability for small fishing ships, even those not equipped with AIS or with a dysfunctional AIS.
While the broadband multimedia technologies have been developing, the commercial market of digital contents has also been widely spreading. Most of all, digital cartoon market like internet cartoon has been rapidly large so video cartooning continuously has been researched because of lack and variety of cartoon. Until now, video cartooning system has been focused in non-photorealistic rendering and word balloon. But the meaningful frame extraction must take priority for cartooning system when applying in service. In this paper, we propose new automatic frame extraction method for video cartooning system. At frist, we separate video and audio from movie and extract features parameter like MFCC and ZCR from audio data. Audio signal is classified to speech, music and speech+music comparing with already trained audio data using GMM distributor. So we can set speech area. In the video case, we extract frame using general scene change detection method like histogram method and extract meaningful frames in the cartoon using face detection among the already extracted frames. After that, first of all existent face within speech area image transition frame extract automatically. Suitable frame about movie cartooning automatically extract that extraction image transition frame at continuable period of time domain.
The omnidirectional surveillance camera uses the object detection algorithm to level the object by unit so that broadband surveillance can be performed using a fisheye lens and then, it was a field experiment with a system composed of an omnidirectional surveillance camera and a tracking (PTZ) camera. The omnidirectional surveillance camera accurately detects the moving object, displays the squarely, and tracks it in close cooperation with the tracking camera. In the field test of flame detection and temperature of the sensing camera, when the flame is detected during the auto scan, the detection camera stops and the temperature is displayed by moving the corresponding spot part to the central part of the screen. It is also possible to measure the distance of the flame from the distance of 1.5 km, which exceeds the standard of calorific value of 1 km 2,340 kcal. In the performance test of detecting the flame along the distance, it is possible to be 1.5 km in width exceeding $56cm{\times}90cm$ at a distance of 1km, and so it is also adaptable to forest fire. The system is expected to be very useful for safety such as prevention of intrinsic or surrounding fire and intrusion monitoring if it is installed in a petroleum gas storage facility or a storing place for oil in the future.
