The Effect of Clay Concentration on Mechanical and Water Barrier Properties of Chitosan-Based Nanocomposite Films

  • Chitosan-based nanocomposite films were prepared using a solution intercalation method incorporating varying amounts of organically modified montmorillonite (Cloisite 30B) from 0 to 30 wt%. The nanocomposite films prepared were optically clear despite a slight decrease in the transmittance due to the spatial distribution of nanoclay. X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that a certain degree of intercalation or exfoliation formed when the amount of clay in the film was low and that microscale tactoids formed when the clay content in the sample was high (more than 10 wt%). The tensile strength (TS) of the chitosan film increased when the clay was incorporated up to 10 wt% and then decreased with further increases in the clay content of the film. The elongation at break (E) increased slightly upon the addition of low levels of clay up to 5 wt% and then decreased with further increases in the amount of the clay in the film. The water vapor permeability (WVP) decreased exponentially with increasing clay content. The water solubility (WS) and swelling ratio (SR) of the nanocomposite films decreased slightly, indicating that the water resistance of the chitosan film increased due to the incorporation of the nanoclay.

  • The ball shea. tests for ball grid array (BGA) and flip chip packages were carried out with different displacement rates to find out the optimum condition of the displacement rate for this test. The BGA packages consisted of two different kinds of solder balls (eutectic Sn-37wt.%Pb and Sn-3.5wt.%Ag) and electroplated Au/Ni/Cu substrate, whereas the flip chip package consisted of electroplated Sn-37Pb solder and Cu UBM. The packages were reflowed up to 10 times, or aged at 443 K up to 21 days. The variation of the displacement rate resulted in the variations of the shear properties such as shear force, displacement rate at break, fracture mode and strain rate sensitivity. The increase in the displacement rate led to the increase of the shear force and brittleness of solder joints.

  • The forced drainage set up to decrease the cathodic protection in each kind of steel conduit laid under the ground is so proscribed to be maintained less than 60V in its output voltage that insulation coordination is easy to be left out of account, on the basis of 60V of working voltage. When railway or subway break down during the service of a subway, 1,500 voltage approximating to line voltage flows through the load terminal of the drainage (rail and underground conduit) though momentary in the worst case. And so, an accident followed by dielectric breakdown, fire and damage by a fire is expected. Therefore, I suggest that insulation coordination should be considered against such a thing on designing, producing and setting up forced drainage.

  • This paper presents the results of driving performance analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor using a microprocessor based control system. The system consists of three phase power transistor inverters, three phase controlled rectifier, three central processing units, and sensors. The three CPUs are, respectively, used to generate PWM control signals for the inverter generating three phase sine wave, to generate the gate control signals for firing the converter, and to supervise other two CPUs. The supervisor is used to compute PI control algtorithm to three phase reference sine wave for the inverter. It is also used to maintain a constant voltage frequency ratio for the converter operating as a constant torque controller. The inverter CPU retrieves precomputed PWM patterns from look up tables because of computation speed limitations found in almost available microprocessors. The converter CPU also retrieves precomputed gate control patterns from another look-up tables. For protecting the control ststem from any damage by extraordinary over currents, the supervisor receives the data from current sensor, CT, and break down the CB to isolate the circuits from source. A resolver has a good performance characteristics of overall speed range, especially on low speed range. Therefor the speed control accuracy is impoved. The microprocessor based PM synchronous motor control system, thus, has many advantages such as constant torque characteristics, improvement of wave, limitation on extraordinary over currents, improvement of speed control accuracy, and fast response speed control using multi-CPU and look-up tables.

OXIDATION CHARACTERISTICS OF PARTICULATE MATTER ON DIESEL WARM-UP CATALYTIC CONVERTER

  • Modern passenger cars with diesel engines are equipped with DOC(diesel oxidation catalyst) for the purpose of reducing HC and CO in the exhaust stream. Cold start exhaust emissions pose troubles here as on gasoline engine vehicles. As a result, some of the diesel passenger cars roll off todays the assembly lines with WCC(warm-up catalytic converter). Oxidation characteristics of the particulates in WCC is analyzed in this study by EEPS(engine exhaust particulate size spectrometer). The maximum number of PM is found to come out of WCC in sizes near 10nm when an HSDI diesel engine is operated under the conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load. When the temperature of the WCC exceeds $300^{\circ}C$, the number of PM smaller than 30 nm in diameter sharply increases upon passing through the WCC. Total mass of emitted PM gets reduced downstream of the WCC under low speed and light load conditions due to adsorption of PM onto the catalyst. Under conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load, the relatively large PM shrink or break into fine particles during oxidation process within the WCC, which results in more mass fraction of fine particles downstream of the WCC.

CHARACTERISTICS OF WALL IMPINGEMENT AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS ON GDI SPRAY

  • The direct injection gasoline spray-wall interaction was characterized inside a heated pressurized chamber using various visualization techniques, including high-speed laser-sheet macroscopic and microscopic movies up to 25,000 frames per second, shadowgraph, and double-spark particle image velocimetry. Two hollow cone high-pressure swirl injectors having different cone angles were used to inject gasoline onto a heated plate at two different impingement angles. Based on the visualization results, the overall transient spray impingement structure, fuel film formation, and preliminary droplet size and velocity were analyzed. The results show that upward spray vortex inside the spray is more obvious at elevated temperature condition, particularly for the wide-cone-angle injector, due to the vaporization of small droplets and decreased air density. Film build-up on the surface is clearly observed at both ambient and elevated temperature, especially for narrow cone spray. Vapor phase appears at both ambient and elevated temperature conditions, particularly in the toroidal vortex and impingement plume. More rapid impingement and faster horizontal spread after impingement are observed for elevated temperature conditions. Droplet rebounding and film break-up are clearly observed. Post-impingement droplets are significantly smaller than pre-impingement droplets with a more horizontal velocity component regardless of the wall temperature and impingement angle condition.

  • 슬러리 기포탑 반응기는 열 및 물질 전달의 용이성, 낮은 운전비용 및 장치의 간단성의 장점을 가지고 있어서 Fischer-Tropsch 반응, bio-reaction 등에 많이 응용되고 있다. 그러나 기포탑 반응기 내의 물질 거동은 매우 복잡하기 때문에 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있음에도 불구하고 그 현상에 대한 명확한 이해는 어려운 상황이다. 특히 기포탑반응기내에 기체의 포집율(gas hold-up)을 증가시키는 것을 목적으로 하는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기체의 분사 방향에 따른 기체 포집율의 변화를 관찰하였다. 기체 분사는 0.6 mm의 pore가 66개로 구성된 perforated plate를 통해서 이루어졌고, 수직방향, 수평방향, 45도 그리고 수직/수평 조합의 네 가지 분사방향에 대해서 실험을 수행하였다. 반응기는 내경이 0.15 m이고 높이 2.0 m 아크릴 반응기를 이용하였다. 사용된 연속상은 수돗물을 사용하였고 분산상 기체로는 압축 공기를 이용하였다. 전체적인 기체 포집율은 수직방향의 분사방향에서 가장 높게 측정되었다. 그리고 수직/수평의 조합 분사방향의 경우, 기체 포집율이 가장 낮게 관찰되었다. 이것은 분사방향이 수직/수평으로 서로 엇갈릴 경우, 기포간의 충돌 가능성이 높아지고 bubble coalescence가 증가하였기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 실제로 homogeneous flow regime에서 heterogeneous flow regime으로 전환되는 기체선속도는 분사방향이 수직, 45도, 수평, 수직/수평 조합의 순서로 감소하였다. 즉 이 순서로 기체흐름의 와류가 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 Dynamic Gas Disengagement(DGD) 분석을 통하여 큰 기포가 발생하기 시작하는 기체 선속도의 변화를 관찰하였다. 이 경우, 예상되듯이 수직/수평 조합에서는 1.5 cm/sec 기체 선속도에서 큰 기포가 발생하기 시작한 반면 수직 방향 분사의 경우에는 2.5 cm/sec의 보다 높은 기체 선속도에서 관찰되기 시작하였다. 이러한 현상들을 종합하였을 때, 기체 분사방향을 수직으로 일정하게 했을 때, 기포간 출동을 최소화하고 와류발생을 최대한 지연시키며 전체 기체 포집율을 증가시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

  • 슬러리 기포탑 반응기는 열 및 물질 전달의 용이성, 낮은 운전비용 및 장치의 간단성의 장점을 가지고 있어서 Fischer-Tropsch 반응, bio-reaction 등에 많이 응용되고 있다. 그러나 기포탑 반응기 내의 물질 거동은 매우 복잡하기 때문에 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있음에도 불구하고 그 현상에 대한 명확한 이해는 어려운 상황이다. 특히 기포탑반응기 내에 기체의 포집율(gas hold-up)을 증가시키는 것을 목적으로 하는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 trayed bubble column 반응기에서 tray의 기공크기에 따른 기체 포집율의 변화를 관찰하였다. 실험에 사용된 반응기는 내경이 0.15 m이고 높이 2.0 m의 아크릴 반응기를 이용하였다. 사용된 연속상은 수돗물을 사용하였고 분산상 기체로는 압축공기를 이용하였다. Tray의 기공크기는 1.1 mm부터 14.0 mm까지 변화시키면서 높이별 기체 포집율의 변화를 관찰하였다. 기체 포집율의 변화를 균일흐름 영역과 불균일 흐름 영역에서 그 양상이 다르게 나타났다. 즉 균일계 영역에서는 기공의 크기가 1.1 mm부터 2.9 mm까지 증가시면 기체포집율이 감소하는 반면 2.9 mm 이상에서는 증가하는 것으로 관찰되었다. 반면 불균일 흐름 영역에서는 전반적으로 기공의 크기가 작아질수록 기체포집율이 증가하였다. 또한 각각의 흐흠 영역에서의 기체포집율 증가정도는 확연한 차이를 보이는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이것은 흐름영역의 유체거동에 따라서 기포와 tray 기공사이의 상호작용 메커니즘이 달라지기 때문인 것으로 보인다.

The Efficacy and Effect of Reverse Geometry Contact Lens on Cornea (역기하학 렌즈의 유효성과 각막에 미치는영향)

  • Object of this research is to estimate the effect of myopia correction and safety on reverse geometry contact lens fitting in school children. This research include 53(106eyes) schoolchildren among 7 to 18 years who has low to moderate myopia(-1.00D~-5.00D) and prescribed reverse geometry contact lens for purpose on orthokeratology between January to July 2004 and had 3months full follow up examination. They were tested for slit lamp examinations, BUT(Break up time), direct ophthalmoscopy, retinoscopy, uncorrected visual acuity, best corrected visual acuity, autorefraction, autokeratometry and corneal topography in each examination(1day, 1week, 2weeks, 1, 2, and 3months) of before-and-after lens wearing to find out the effect of myopic correction and side effect. The results came out as follow. The average of uncorrected visual acuity was $0.0938{\pm}0.378$ before lens wear and $0.3136{\pm}0.283$ after 1day lens wear, and there was fast improvement after 1week($0.7925{\pm}0.301$) and little improvement after 2weeks period but still they shows better uncorrected visual acuity(p<0.01). The result of this study, the reverse geometry lens is very useful to correct refractive error and control the progression of myopia temporally among low to moderate myopic patient. The side effects were relatively rare but further study should be necessary with long term lens wear effect on eye health. For the lens prescription, the clinical fitting process had higher rate of success with consideration of eccentricity and corneal topography.

  • It is more important how to maintain and develop the company than starting any business. The matter of trust building in the early stage of start up company is a main cause to make or break business performance. This study analyzes the primary factor to the influence of matter of trust formation in the early stage of starting business at internet shopping mall. Also, We are here concerned with the strategies on the building brand to shopping mall of e-company and the increasing sales. To accomplish the aim of this paper is examined a concept of trust, consumer's purchase behavior and the factor of trust formation from the basis of preceding research, It was found from the result of an hypothesis testing for positive analyze that information quality, web design and shopping convenience influence factors to the initial trust.
