Fault Location for Incomplete-Journey Double-Circuit Transmission Lines on Same Tower Based on Identification of Fault Branch

  • This paper analyses the characteristics of incomplete-journey double-circuit transmission lines on the same tower formed by single-circuit lines and double-circuit lines, and then presents a fault location algorithm based on identification of fault branch. With the relationship between the three-phase system and the double-circuit line system, a phase-mode transformation matrix for double-circuit lines can be derived. Based on the derived matrix, the double-circuit lines with faults can be decoupled, and then the fault location for an incomplete-journey double-circuit line is achieved by using modal components in the mode domain. The algorithm is divided into two steps. Firstly, the fault branch is identified by comparing the relationships of voltage amplitudes at the bonding point. Then the fault location, on the basis of the identification result, is calculated by using a two-terminal method, and only the fault distance of the actual fault branch can be obtained. There is no limit on synchronization of each terminal sampling data. The results of ATP-EMTP simulation show that the proposed algorithm can be applied within the entire line and can accurately locate faults in different fault types, fault resistances, and fault distances.

Analytical Modeling of Conventional and Miniaturization Three-Section Branch-Line Couplers

  • Analytical modeling equations are proposed for the conventional and modified three-section branch-line couplers. The analytical equations are explicit and capable of determining the characteristic impedance of each branch line for the coupler at desired coupling level as well as the suitability of broadband S-parameters analysis. In addition, a bandwidth extension and miniaturization of three-section branch-line coupler using slow-wave and meandering line structures were designed. The modified coupler, which is able to operate within frequencies from 1.5 to 3.32 GHz has been fabricated, tested and compared. A bandwidth extension of 600 MHz and 53% reduced size of the modified coupler have been achieved compared to a conventional coupler. The modified coupler has roughly insertion loss and coupling of -4 dB and -3.2 dB, while the isolation and return loss, respectively less than -14 dB with fractional bandwidth of 77 %, as well as phase imbalances less than $2^{\circ}$ over the operating bandwidth. Overall, the derived analytical model, simulation and measurement results demonstrated a good agreement.

  • 어구는 어획을 효과적으로 달성하기 위해서 사용되는 도구이다. 연승어업은 모릿줄에 일정한 간격으로 아릿줄을 연결하고 아릿줄 끝에 낚시 1개씩을 매달은 어업 방법이다. 본 논문은 연승어업의 어구 투승을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 어구 유형 설정 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대해서 논한다. 본 논문에서는 이를 위하여 전체적인 어구 유형 설정 시스템을 설계하고, 시스템 사용자 및 통신환경 설정, 어구 유형 설계, 어구 투승의 모형 모듈을 구현하였다. 본 논문의 타당성 검토를 위하여 어구 유형 설계 및 투승 과정을 실험하였다.

CRLH 전송선로 구조를 이용한 이중대역 브랜치 라인 커플러 설계 (Design of A Dual Band Branch Line Coupler Using a CRLH Transmission Line Structure)

  • This paper proposes a dual band branch line coupler (BLC) using a composite right/left handed (CRLH) transmission line. The existing dual band BLCs with open stubs require hundreds of line impedance for the open stub as the frequency bands approach to each other, so it has been almost impossible to realize them. However in the proposed BLC, a CRLH transmission line replaces the open stub with an extremely high line impedance so that the BLC circuit may be realized even two frequencies are close to each other. As an example, a dual band BLC operating at 1800MHz and 2300MHz (the frequency ratio is 1:1.28) is designed and measured. Open stubs with $560\Omega$ line impedance are replaced by CRLH transmission lines for realizing the dual band BLC. The measured performances prove that the dual band operation is well acceptable and the proposed design method is successful even the ratio between two frequencies is not around two nor more.

단락 스터브를 이용한 이중대역용 브랜치 라인 커플러의 설계 (Dual-Band Branch-Line Coupler Using Shorted Stubs)

  • 이중대역에서 동작하는 브랜치 라인 커플러를 나타낸다. 새로운 설계 구조에서는 단락 스터브가 병렬로 추가된 전송선로가 2개의 주파수에서 $90^{\circ}$의 위상 천이를 구현하기 위하여 사용된다. 제안하는 브랜치 라인의 특성 임피던스와 전기적 길이는 종래의 구조와 비교하여 조정된다. ABCD 행렬 파라미터를 이용하여 설계 방정식을 유도하였다. 설계 개념을 검증하기 위하여 0.8 GHz 및 1.85 GHz에서 동작하는 마이크로스트립 커플러를 제작하고 측정하였다.

  • Recently major power outages are increased, because of transmission line fault by birds. Therefore, after finding out the problem of the current prevention measure for the super high voltage transmission Line in Korea and analyzing the protection measure of other foreign power companies for the transmission facilities fault by birds, this paper describes an effective device for power line fault protection by birds which has no legal problem and also protects birds. The described prevention measure of power outage by birds in this paper, has a special feature that is able to be installed on the current overhead transmission facilities without a replacement or change.

덮개층이 있는 마이크로스트립 선로를 이용한 브랜치 선로 결합기 해석 및 설계 (Analysis and Design of Branch Line Coupler using Microstrip Lines with Overlay)

  • 본 논문은 브랜치 선로 결합기를 소형화하는 방법에 대해 기술하였다. 이 방법은 덮개층이 있는 선로를 이용한 방법이다. 덮개층이 있는 선로의 주파수 변화에 따른 특성(분산 및 특성임피던스)을 해석하기 위해 스펙트럴 영역에서의 Immittance 방법과 선분할법(Method of Line)을 이용하였다. 덮개층이 있는 선로에 관한 스펙트럴 영역에서의 Green 함수를 구하고 이를 이용하여 수치적인 결과를 얻었다. 이 결과를 이용하여 덮개층을 갖는 브랜치 선로 하이브리드를 중심주파수 2 GHz에서 설계하고 제작하였다. 실험 결과 유전율 10.2dls 덮개층을 갖는 경우 기존 단일 마이크로스트립 선로로 구현된 결합기보다 31.4% 크기가 줄어들었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 방법은 앞으로 이동통신 빔형성 안테나의 급전선인 Butler Matrix의 크기를 줄이는 방법으로 사용 가능하리라 사료된다.

  • This paper describes the overvoltage at the branch line in underground distribution systems when the direct lightning surge strikes on conductor of overhead line. Distribution systems are very complex because it includes many branch lines, transformers, switches and so on. Therefore model system consists of overhead distribution lines, underground cable include branch lines, lightning source and switches. Analysis are performed using EMTP to understand and evaluate the surge behavior on branch lines considering various conditions in underground distribution systems. Simulation results show overvoltage with location in various cases. It is evaluated that result will be used to establish protection methods in actual underground distribution systems.

논 엘레멘트 믹서의 혼합 메커니즘에 관한 수치해석적 검토 (Numerical Analysis Study of the Mixing Mechanism of Non-element Mixer)

  • Visualization of the mixing pattern in a non-element mixer was carried out using laser induced fluorescence(LIF) to evaluate characteristics of mixer consisting of the main flow pipe and branch flow pipes. The branch flows were injected periodically with the period $T_{in}$ normal to the main flow, and rhodamine B was mixed into the most upstream branch flow to visualize mixing pattern in the main flow pipe by LIF. The length of boundary line L of the LIF image was measured. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to identify the mixing process of the non-element mixer, and the results were compared with experimental results. Each result was almost the same. When the number of branch flows is increased, the mixing pattern became complicated and was supposed to become chaotic. The length of boundary line L increased exponentially with an increase in the number of branch flows.

  • Varactor 다이오드와 branch coupler를 이용한 반사형 아날로그 위상 변위기 설계에 대하여 기술하였다. 1단의 위상 변위기로 위상 변위를 크게 하기 위하여 마이크로 스트립 stub기법을 사용하였으며 2.260GHz 주파수대에서 제작 결과 170$^{\circ}$의 위상이 변화함을 확인하였다. 측정된 삽입손실을 3㏈ 이하이었고. 반사 손실은 12㏈ 이상이었다. 본 논문에서는 설계 기법과 제자 및 실험 결과를 상세히 기술하였다.
