An actively controlled prototype for educational buildings

  • The authors address the problem of ameliorating or updating existing educational buildings. This building typology is quite sensitive to social and media pressure, mainly when accidents have occurred nearby. When a building is classified as unsatisfactory, the current code requirements oblige one to re-design the building with significant penalty factors in the resistance values. Often the only solution is to destroy the existing facility and to build a new one. When attempting to preserve the existing building, higher levels of safety are demanded by the society and this can only be achieved by innovative system architectures. The authors propose and discuss a prototype that can be easily adopted to retrofit small educational buildings as the ones common in small municipalities. The higher performance is pursued by a special design of the control scheme, with new control devices and special control laws.

Creepage Model Analysis for a Tilting Train (틸팅열차의 크리피지 모델 해석)

  • Traction and braking of trains are due to the rolling contact of the wheel on the rail, and the rolling contact is fundamental to an understanding of the behavior of the railroad system. The way in which the forces are transmitted in the rolling contact is complex and highly nonlinear. This paper describes a rolling contact theory, a creepage model between wheel and rail, and a dynamic model of the tilting train Hanvit-200. The validity of the model is verified through simulation study using Simulink.

  • Brake pads are a component of disc brake system of automobile and consist of steel backing plates and friction material facing the disk brake rotor. Due to the repeated sliding forces and torque in vehicle braking, friction performance of brake pads are ensured. Futhermore, the brake pad is one of major tuning components in aftermarket, mechanical characteristics of the brake pad are necessary to evaluate for establishing the certification standards of tuning components. This study had performed the five specimen tests for friction coefficients and wear loss rates according to the SAE test specification. Using the instrumented indentation method, yield strength and tensile strength were measured. Friction coefficients, 0.386 - 0.489, and wear loss rates, 1.0% - 3.7% are obtained. The range of yield strength and tensile strength are 21.4 MPa - 105.3 MPa and 39.5 MPa - 176.4 MPa respectively.

  • The demand on a turnout layed on a bridge is rising owing to the increasing number of stations on the viaduct. And also the demand on a turnout with CWR is rising to upgrade running speed of the passing train. A CWR connected with turnout is subjected to additional axial force induced by the actions due to change in temperature, braking and starting force, and bending of the deck. But magnitude and distribution of the axial force in rails of turnout is not clear yet. So, in this study, a field measurement was conducted to know them. The strain gage method was adopted for field test. The FBG sensor for the strain measurement was used to ensure stability of test value and durability of gage for long term. It is expected that we can get data on the axial force in rail connected with turnout with respect to seasonal temperature change by the established field test system.

  • Due to several advantages of Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) Converter, such as unity power factor operation, elimination of low-order harmonics and regeneration of motor braking energy to source, the application range of PWM Converter has been rapidly extended in industrial application. Nowadays, vector control algorithm and space vector PWM(SVPWM) method are applied to improve the performances of PWM Converter, but vector control algorithm and SVPWM require to use Microprocessor and other digital devices in hardware, causing costly and somewhat large dimension system. In every practical application of energy conversion equipments, the design and implementation should be carried out considering cost and performance. High performance and low cost is the best choice for energy conversion equipments. So, this paper presents the practical design method and implementation results of 3-phase PWM Converter with analog hysteresis current controller, and verifies the performances of unit power factor operation and energy regeneration operation via experimental results.

  • 경부고속전철에서 사용되는 제동시스템의 성능 및 특성을 종합적이고 효율적으로 확인하기 위하여 차량 내에 상시 계측시스템을 구축하였으며, 차량의 제동과 관련된 측정과 평가는 경부고속전철이 상업 운행을 하는 차량이므로 구성품의 변경을 가져오지 않는 범위 내에서 수행하였다. 경부고속전철의 차량 내에 설치된 계측장비와 Lab VIEW로 개발된 계측프로그램을 이용하여 제동관련 데이터를 실시간으로 감시하고 측정하였다. 또한 차후에 분석프로그램을 통해 제동시스템의 성능 및 특성을 알아보기 위해 시운전 시험 중에 제동관련 데이터를 실시간으로 저장하였다. 본 논문은 경부고속전철의 전기제동에 대한 설계치와 실측치를 서로 비교하였으며, 이에 제동시스템의 성능을 정확하게 확인하고 검증할 수 있었다.

  • This paper proposes two kinds of the eddy current brake which uses permanent magnet. The one, like multipolar excitation consists of hexahedron shape of a segmented permanent magnetic and iron situated in the air-gap. The other, like multipolar excitation consists of only a segmented permanent magnetic. We use a finite element method to compute the flux distribution in the model. Also, we use the Galerkin-FEM with linear interpolation function may oscillate between the adjacent nodes to calculate the braking and attraction force. The advantages of the Halbach array are discussed.

  • 차량의 제동장치는 제동시 차량의 조향안정성을 유지하면서 최소한의 제동거리를 확보하는 장 치라 할 수 있다. 제동시 차량의 조향안정성 유지와 최소제동거리를 확보하기 위해서는 차량의 적절한 제동능력에 필요한 전제동토오크를 전후륜의 제동장치에 적당하게 배분시켜야 한다. 그러나 차량의 각차륜의 하중 상태는 여러 가지 적재상태와 제동시중량이동 등에 따라 변하게 되므로 고정된 제동장치로서는 전후륜의 제동토오크를 가변시킬 수 없어 설계시 빈도가 높은 조건에 맞추어 제동장치의 구성부품을 확정할 수밖에 없다. 차량에 따라서는 축하중상태의 변 화가 큰 경우와 공용화를 위하여 여러 모델의 차량에 동일제동 장치를 적용하려고 할 경우에 문제점이 따르기 마련이다. 본고에서는 제동장치의 전후륜의 제동토오크 배분에 대하여 고찰하여 설계개념을 파악하고자 한다.

  • 대부분 소형풍력발전은 운전 범위 이상이 될 경우 시스템 보호를 위해 Dump Load 방식 또는 전기자 반작용을 사용하며 순간 단락 시 돌발 단락 전류에 의해 풍력 발전기의 기계적 손상이 발생 된다. 본 논문에서는 ATmega 128을 이용한 PWM의 제어 방식 적용하여 돌발 단락 전류 억제하는 시스템을 구성 하고자 한다.
