  • High-speed railway is important transportation in the world because it has a lot of merits like as very comfortable, environmental benefits, energy savings, etc. The increase of demand for high-speed railway influence to develop of new hish-speed trains. Many countries introduced new high-speed train in the market and it meets to the market's needs. They adopt new technology and systems like that active suspension, synchronous permanent magnetic motor, distributed drive system, aero acoustics, etc. In Korea, the project for R&D of new high-speed train is launched in 2007. We need analysis for main properties of new high-speed train(HEMU-400x). This paper presents the comparisons, analyzed characteristics of main properties like as traction system and braking system. In this analysis, we can know our technical position in the world and what is important to focus on the development. It is very useful to develop a next generation high-speed train in Korea.

  • Recently, interest in environmentally friendly transportation systems has been increasing, and study on railway systems has been aggressively conducted. Therefore, lots of studies have been done in railway advanced countries to improve performance of PWM converter. The research on the PWM converter for railway vehicle was mainly carried out on the converter mounted on railway vehicle such as the high-speed railway and metropolitan railway. In also, a lot of study has been carried out to improve converter performance installed in the ground. The high-capacity transform used in this paper converted from AC 22.9kV to AC 590V. The converter changed from AC 590V to DC 950V. In general, in the case of rectifier, the DC power supply system has a negative impact on inverter control characteristics because it can not avoid the pulsating component. In this study, it was performed current control for high-capacity converter using Matlab Simulink. The PWM converter is normally performed through the voltage and current at starting mode, powering mode, and braking mode. In the light-load test and the on-line test, we have studied for the PWM converter characteristics. Using this research, we have founded that the converter has excellent performance.

Vulcanizate Structures of NR Compounds with Silica and Carbon Black Binary Filler Systems at Different Curing Temperatures

  • There is an increasing demand for the rolling resistance reduction in truck bus radial (TBR) tires in the tire industry. In TBR tires, natural rubber is used as a base polymer to prevent wear and satisfy required physical properties (cut and chip). A binary filler system (silica and carbon black) is used to balance the durability of the tire and rolling resistance performance. In this study, natural rubber (NR) compounds applied with a binary filler system were manufactured at different cure temperatures for vulcanizate structure analysis. The vulcanizate structures were categorized into carbon black bound rubber, silica silane rubber network, and chemical crosslink density by sulfur. Regardless of the cure temperature, the cross-link density per unit content of carbon black had a greater effect on the properties than silica due to affinity with NR. The relationship analysis between the mechanical, viscoelastic properties with vulcanizate structure could be a guideline for manufacturing practical TBR compounds.

  • The creation of automotive systems of active safety with intelligent functions needs the use of new control principles for the wheel and automobile. One of such directions is the pre-extreme control strategy. Its aim is the ensuring of wheel's work in pre-extreme, stable area of tire grip wheel slip dependence. The simplest realization of pre-extreme control in automotive anti-lock brake systems consists in the threshold and gradient algorithms. A comparative analysis of these algorithms, which has been made on 'hardware in-the-loop' simulation results of the braking for bus with various anti-lock brake systems (ABS), indicated their high efficiency.

  • This paper presents an application of SR drives for LSEV's(Low Speed Electric Vehicles) which are used for golf and leisure. Two types of 5[HP] SRM's and its drive system are designed and tested. In order to be energy saving and have effective braking during deceleration, a multi-level inverter is proposed. For the precise switching angle control, a new type of analog encoder is proposed. A current control is adopted for soft starting and an angle control is adopted at high speed to increase efficiency. Drive characteristics and performance are shown with test results.

  • Permanent magnet is applied to the mover of eddy current braking system for high speed. On the analytical 2D field solutions considering end effect, this paper deals with the magnetic field, and forces according to the secondary magnet array. Comparisons between analytical results and experimental results are also presented.

  • In this paper, an auxiliary winding driving system of single-phase induction motors is described. Starting charateristics variations are obtained by controlling the auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle, while the motor's main winding is directly connected to the local utility. A variable auxiliary winding voltage phase angle is shown to yield significant torque control, providing starting and braking torque. The analysis includes the determination of the relationship between the auxiliary winding voltage phase angle and the phase angle difference between the main and auxiliary winding current. The paper proposed for adjusting an auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle. Experimental results of motor's starting characteristics with using the DC-AMP and PWM inverter for auxiliary winding power supply are shown. The drive is tested using a dynamometer to experimentally verify the results of the theory.

  • 현재 세계적인 열차제어의 추세는 궤도회로에 의한 고정폐색방식을 이용한 열차 운행이 아닌 발리스 또는 무선통신에 의한 이동권한을 이용한 열차제어방식을 적용하고 있으며, 국내에서도 이에 맞추어 철도청에서는 ATP 사업을 통하여 유럽의 ERTMS/ETCS 규격에 의한 발리스 기반의 열차제어시스템을 적용할 계획이다. 또한 분당선에서는 통신기반 열차제어시스템인CBTC 시스템을 시범구축하고 있다. 이러한 추세에 맞추어 열차제어시스템에 있어서 가장 중요한 기능 중의하나인 안전제동 기능을 이동권한에 적합하도록 새롭게 모델링할 필요가 있으며, 본 논문에서는 이러한 이동권한에 의한 열차제어시스템의 안전제동에 대해 연구하였다.

  • Mechatronic subsystems are more and more developed in automotive industries. To enhance the local controls performances, a cooperative control between ABS and Suspension systems is proposed. The respective controls are first designed separately with their dedicated models. Then a hybrid hierarchical architecture is developed. The advantage of this architecture is discussed through vehicle performance with simulation results.

  • The electric power, regenerated while railway vehicles braking or running downhill, makes U line voltage rise and the feeding system may not be secure. In order to keep away from these kind of insecurity, the regenerative energy should be consumed by loads or transmitted to the AC side via certain devices such as DC/AC converters. This paper introduces the developed regenerative inverter for electric railway.
