The behaviors of the curved bridges which has been constructed in the RAMP or Interchange are very complicate and different than orthogonal bridges according to the variations of radius of curvature, skew angle and spacing of shoes. Occasionally, the camber of girder and negative reactions can be occurred due to bending and torsional moment. In this study, the effects on the negative reaction in the curved bridge were investigated on the basis of design variables such as radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes. For this study, the twin-steel box girder curved bridge with single span which is applicable for the RAMP bridges with span length(L) of 50.0m and width of 9.0m was chosen and the structural analysis to calculate the reactions was conducted using 3-dimensional equivalent grillage system. The value of negative reaction in curved bridges depends on the plan structures of bridges, the formations of structural systems, and the boundary conditions of bearing, so, radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes among of design variables were chosen as the parameter and the load combination according to the design standard were considered. According to the results of numerical analysis, the negative reaction in curved bridge increased with an decrease of radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes, respectively. Also, in case of skew angle of $60^{\circ}$ the negative reaction has been always occurred without regard to ${\theta}/B$, and in case of skew angle of $75^{\circ}$ the negative reaction hasn't been occurred in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.27 with the radius of curvature of 180m and in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.32 with the radius of curvature of 250m, and in case of skew angle of $90^{\circ}$ the negative reaction hasn't been occurred in the radius of curvature over 180m and in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.38 with the radius of curvature of 130m, The results from this study indicated that occurrence of negative reaction was related to design variables such as radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes, and the problems with the stability including negative reaction will be expected to be solved as taken into consideration of the proper combinations of design variables in design of curved bridge.

The optimal design was performed for the bridge superstructure composed of steel box girders and concrete deck considering life cycle cost. The service life of the superstructure was estimated, after load carry capacity curves for steel girder and concrete deck were derived on the basis of condition grade curves and maintenance histories. The object function was determined as life cycle cost, including initial cost, total maintenance cost, disposal cost and user cost, for a period of the estimated service life. The optimal design of the superstructure was performed for the various service lifes. The annual costs were used to compare calculated results and to get the most economical design. Also this paper presents reasonable idea for the use of user cost with uncertainty.

An algorithm is proposed for computing dynamic displacements of a bridge using FBG sensors. An existing algorithm for estimating dynamic displacements of a simply supported beam through mode superposition is extended and applied to various types of bridges with bending and torsional modes. The proposed algorithm is examined through field tests on a suspension span steel deck plate box girder bridge. Guidelines are provided for determining the number of modes and the number of strain gages to be used.

In order to analyze the PSC box-girder bridge by the cantilever construction method, three dimensional analysis method using the PSC shell clement is suggested. The time dependent material functions are based on the ACI and CEB code. The time dependent concrete material properties considered are changes in strength, elastic modulus, creep and shrinkage. For the prestressing tendon, relaxation effects are considered. Anchorage and friction loses during tendon installations are also included. The ACI and CEB material models for creep and elastic modulus are also included.

Ship and bridge structures are a type of long box-shaped structure, and resistance to vertical bending moment is a key factor in their structural design. In particular, because box girders are repeatedly exposed to irregular wave loads for a long time, the continuous collapse behavior of structural members must be accurately predicted. In this study, plastic collapse behavior, including buckling according to load changes of the box girder receiving pure bending moments, was analyzed using a numerical analysis method. The analysis targets were selected as three box girders used in the Gordo experiment. The cause of the difference was considered by comparing the results of the structural strength experiment with those of non-linear finite element analysis. This study proposed a combination of the entire and local sagging shape to reflect the effect of the initial sagging caused by welding heat that is inevitably used to manufacture carbon steel materials. The procedures reviewed in the study and the contents of the initial sagging configuration can be used as a good guide for analyzing the final strength of similar structures in the future.
Special-shape arch bridge for self-balance (SBSSAB) in Zhongshan City is a kind of new fashioned spatial combined arch bridge composed of inclined steel arch ribs, curved steel box girder and inclined suspenders, and the mechanical behavior of the SBSSAB is particularly complicated. The SBSSAB is aesthetic in appearance, and design of the SBSSAB is artful and particular. In order to roundly investigate the mechanical behavior of the SBSSAB, 3-D finite element models for spatial member and shell were established to analyze the mechanical properties of the SBSSAB using ANSYS. Finite element analyses were conducted under several main loading cases, moreover deformation and strain values for control section of the SBSSAB under several main loading cases were proposed. To ensure the safety and rationality for optimal design of the SBSSAB and also to verify the reliability of its design and calculation theories, the 1/10 scale model tests were carried out. The measured results include the load checking calculation, lane loading and crowd load, and dead load. A good agreement is achieved between the experimental and analytical results. Both experimental and analytical results have shown that the SBSSAB is in the elastic state under the planned test loads, which indicates that the SBSSAB has an adequate load-capacity. The calibrated finite-element model that reflects the as-built conditions can be used as a baseline for health monitoring and future maintenance of the SBSSAB.

3D bridge information models for a concrete box-girder bridge were built and a typical application example for the estimation linked with the 3D models was proposed. 3D geometry objects with PBS (product breakdown structure) were constructed using standard classification codes and 2D drawings. Information on the amount of materials according to the classification codes was utilized for the estimation system. A process for the estimation of concrete and rebars was developed and verified through the pilot test. Optimization of rebar fabrication was suggested as an additional function and was utilized for the cost reduction and standard fabrication.

Mo-Am arch bridge is only the long-span bridge (with 125m span) in the Kyong-Bu high-speed line in service, while other bridges are PSC box girder bridges and steel composite bridges with span lengths of $25\sim50m$. However, in foreign high-speed lines, special cable-supported bridges like cable-stayed bridges and extradosed bridges are being adopted in earnest with technical specifications. The cable supported bridge is recognized as one of the indices of technology in civil engineering field, and thus it is being adpoted with a sense of rivalry in countries with advanced technology in railway engineering. In this paper, to apply the top-level cable-supported bridge technology to the domestic high-speed line up to 400km/h by establishing the technical specifications on cable-supported bridges including span length, the requirements for securing the dynamic stability and running safety of high speed train are analyzed through case studies for domestic and foreign cases.

Changes in measured structural responses induced by a damage could be significantly smaller than those by environmental effects such as temperature and temperature gradients. It is highly desirable to develop a methodology to distinguish the changes due to the structural damage from those by the environmental variations. In this study, a novel method to extract the damage-induced deflection under temperature variations is presented using the outlier analysis on the deflections obtained using the modal flexibility matrices. The main idea is that temperature change in a bridge would produce global increase or decrease in deflections over the whole bridge while structural damages may cause local variations in deflections near the damage locations. Hence, the correlation between the deflection measurements may show high abnormality near the damage locations. A series of laboratory tests were carried out on a bridge model with a steel box-girder for 14 days. It has been found that the damage existence assessment and localization can carried out for a case with relatively small damage under the temperature variations
The dynamic load effects are conveyed to the railway bridges through tracks which are generated by moving trains The dynamic load effects may vary due to the dynamic characteristics of the applied vehicle loads and the railway bridges containing the track system. However, the track effects have been neglected or simplified by spring elements in the most studies since it is quite complex to consider the track systems in the dynamic analysis models of railway bridges. In this study, track system on railway bridges is modeled using a three-dimensional discrete-support model that can simulate the load carrying behavior of tracks. In addition, this program is developed with the precise 20-car model and a continuous PSC(prestressed concrete) box girder bridge, which is the main bridge type of Korea Train express(KTX). Three-dimensional elements are used for both. The dynamic response of railway bridges is found to be affected depending on whether the track model is considered or not. The influencing rate depends on the traveling speed and different wheel-axle distance. The dynamic bridge response is decreased remarkably by the track systems around the resonant frequency. Therefore, the resonance effect can be reduced by modifying the track properties in the railway bridge.
