  • For the evaluation of wind resources, numerical simulation was carried out as a tool for establishing wind map around the korean peninsula. Initial and boundary condition are given by 3 hourly RDAPS(Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System) data of KMA(Korea Meteorology Administration) and high resolution terrain elevation land cover(30 seconds) data from USGS(United States Geological Survey). Furthermore, Data assimilation was adopted to improve initial meteorological data with buoy and QuikSCAT seawinds data. The simulation was performed from 2003 to 2006 year. To understand wind data correctly in complex terrain as the korean peninsula, at this research, Wind map was classified 4 categories by distance from coastline and elevation.

  • A survey was conducted on the vegetation of Seogmo island, which is small island (ca. 41 okm2) located about 1km west of Kanghwa island in the central Korea, from Aug. 1983 to May 1984. Based on the field data, actual vegetation map and potential natural vegetation map were made. The island is covered with broad-leaved trees dominated with Quercus variabilis. The dominance diversity curves obtaiend in different associations are grouped in two types, lognormal distribution forms at the undisturbed vegetation and geometric series at the disturbed or rocky sites. It seems that the curves show to us the nature of their ecocline by the hypothesis of some investigators, i.e. Random niche boundary hypothesis, niche preemption hypothesis, lognormal distribution and logarithmic series. Total numbers of vascular plant species of the island were recorded 108 families, 348 genera, 475 species, 73 variaties and 7 forma. And Pte.-Q Index, 0.93, and Fisher's Index, 589.8, were higher than those in neighboring islands.

  • As the boundary between fashion and architecture is getting blurred, the interactions of the two fields are turning out abundant as well as essential. This study investigates the tectonic strategies in architectural fashion design as a novel aesthetic in the 21st century by combining literary survey and case analysis on architecture and contemporary fashion. The tectonic strategies in the works of architectural fashion designers were categorized as follows: organic geometry, technological garment construction, and independent space. Organic geometry transforms basic geometric shapes into subtle organic forms after being thrown on the body. Technological garment construction explores the garment structure and volume by applying the structural principle of suspension and fractal geometry. Independent space refers to maintaining the firm three-dimensionality of garment structure which keeps the distance from the body, assuming the similarity to architecture.

  • Tsunami disaster caused great damages and very large victims especially when occurs in urban area along coastal region. Therefore information of evacuation in a map is very important for disaster preparedness in order to minimize the number of victims in affected area. Here, information generated from remote sensing satellite data (SPOT 5 and DEM) and secondary data (administration boundary and field survey data) are used to simulate evacuation route and to produce a map for Padang City. Vulnerability and evacuation areas are determined based on DEM. Landuse/landcover, accessibility areas, infrastructure and landmark are extracted from SPOT 5 data. All the data obtained from remote sensing and secondary data are integrated using geospatial modelling to determine evacuation routes. Finally the simulation of evacuation route in Padang City for tsunami preparedness is provided based on the parameters derived from remote sensing data such as distances from shelters, save zones, city's landmarks and the local community experiences how they can survive with the disaster.

  • The purpose of this research is to document and analyse spatial transformation of an unauthorized dwelling units on a peculiar site of Seoul. It's physically attached to the behind part of the west boundary wall of Chang-Duk Palace. These dwelling units took not only the site, the narrow street which had been a stream, but also the two parallel walls of others for their home. The two walls, one from the palace wall and the other from the wall of a house which distanced itself from the palace wall about 3.5 m for the reason of the Cultural Properties Protection Law, have been held as the main structural members in forming the shelter. With examining the realm of time which provide the base of the spatial realm, this research shows how the multiple linkages tangled in an illegal shack did gain and actualize an architectural language of idiosyncrasy with spontaneous order inherent in inhabitants.

  • This study attempts to research and analyze the khaki color, which is regarded to be the most difficult to be conveyed in general. In so doing, this study aims to contribute to better understanding of the khaki color. First of all, I research definitions of the khaki, which originates from the color of "dirt", and set a boundary of this color. Second, I examine the pigments from plants that produce the color of khaki. In addition, based on the survey results and the color scheme dictionary, I analyze the characteristics of the khaki, from the cognitive perspective, and its attributes as a neutral color.

  • Modern trend in structural design is to use smaller elements in order to ensure several purposes such as economy, functionality and aesthetic in appearance. However, because of decreasing rigidity of the structural elements, the system displacements increases and displacements become an important subject in this kind of structures takes into account both geometrical changes and the carrying capacity of the material after linear-elastic boundary. In this study, a method is proposed to calculate the failure loads and to analyse the reinforced concrete space frame systems. The numerical examples gathered from the literature survey are solved with this method utilising the prepared computer program and the comparable results are presented. The results show that the method is sufficiently accurate.

  • This study is to improve the marine traffic environment along the west coast of the Korean peninsular so as to prevent the traffic accidents of the dangerous cargo carriers. The most used routes of the vessels were investigated from GICOMS database and the questionnaire survey. Gwanjanghang Sudo strait and Maenggol Sudo strait were considered to have some potential risks to the vessels. In this study, the alternative routes were developed to substitute the current routes near Gwanjanghang Sudo strait and the new boundary line of The Traffic Prohibited Area for Tanker was suggested to contain the Maenggol Sudo strait.

  • The electrical resistivity prospecting method with dipole-dipole array were applied in order to survey 3-D structure characteristics of the Noen landfill site. For the electrical resistivity prospecting, 3 line of measurements were established parallel to the main boundary of the Noen landfill site and additional 2 lines were also established perpendicular to the existing 3 lines for the effective investigation of the landfill site. The results showed that the uppermost layer of the landfill site is believed to be stabilized generally based on the characteristics of electrical resistivity distribution. Lowest layer was partially polluted by the leachate.

  • The purpose of this research is to reduce editors' workload and automation to update(v) Digital Map(n) regarding changed topography. In Digital Map case, it usually uses the way of various survey to update(v). In this case, it costs a great deal and doesn't be efficient backup management. Accordingly, it can reduce editors' the period of the process and be efficiently managed the backup data due to well organized backup data management. We present update plan that used clipping and join for this result by analyzing Boundary of input data.
