  • Evolution Strategy is used as an effective search algorithm in optimization problems and Sliding Mode Control is well known as a robust control algorithm. In this paper, we propose a Sliding Mode Control Method for robot manipulator using Evolution Strategy. Evolution Strategy is used to estimate Sliding Mode Control Parameters such as sliding surface gradient, continuous function boundary layer, unknown plant parameters and switching gain. Experimental results show the proposed control scheme has accurate and robust performances with effective search ability.

  • Pressure pulsation of exciting sources that generally occurs on the piping system connected to the discharge of BFP(boiler feed water pump) in power plants causes wave reflection, wave interference, resonance, standing wave and so on. But if the operating speed of the pump is changed, the state of the noise and vibration can be done because characteristics of the exciting source are changed. This paper is to investigate the cause of the noise and vibration occurring on the piping system when the operating speed of BFP is down in accordance with lowering of the power generation. It is approached to two points of view ; Firstly, it is examined whether the pulsation source impacts on the shell mode vibration that vibrates radially across the cross-section of the pipe. But it doesn't affect the shell mode as much as the resonance occurs. Secondly, to find the relation between the pulsation source and the acoustic mode of the piping system, analysis for the piping system by indirect BEM(boundary element method) is carried out. Therefore it is investigated that the mechanism of the noise and vibration relates with acoustic mode of the piping system.

  • This paper presents a hybrid image mode Galerkin method for the analysis of the transmission line structures suspended between infinite parallel ground planes. A Green's function that consists of numerically accelerated image mode terms is developed, which is used in boundary integral equation. Transmission lines of arbitrary cross section are analyzed using Galerkin's method. Two kinds of configurations of transmission lines are studied in sample problems.

  • A method is presented for the vibration analysis of steam turbine-generator rotor system based on the component mode synthesis method. The motion of each component of the system is described by superposing constraint mode associated with boundary coordinates and constrained normal modes associated with internal coordinates. This method using real fixed-interface modes allows for significant reduction in system model size while retaining the essential dynamic characteristics of the lower modes. The capability of this method is demonstrated in the natural frequency and unbalance response analysis of the steam turbine-generator rotor system in which the dynamics of the pedestal is considered. The results by the present method are compared with finite element method and trnasfer matrix method in terms of the accuracy and computing time.

  • In this paper, double Fourier sine series is used as a modal displacement functions of a rectangular plate and applied to the free vibration analysis of a rectangular plate under various boundary conditions. The method of stationary potential energy is used to obtain the modal displacements of a plate. To enhance the flexibility of the double Fourier sine series, Lagrangian multipliers are utilized to match the geometric boundary conditions, and Stokes' transformation is used to handle the displacements that are not satisfied by the double Fourier sine series. The frequency parameters and mode shapes obtained by the present method are compared with those obtained by MSC/NASTRAN and other analysis.

  • An integral equation representation of cracks was presented, which differs from well-known "dislocation layer" representation. In this new representation, an integral equation representation of cracks was developed and coupled to the direct boundary-element method for treatment of cracks in plane finite bodies. The method was developed for in-plane(modes I and II) loadings only. In this paper, the method is formulated and applied to mode III problems involving smooth or kinked cracks in finite region. The results are compared to exact solutions where available and the method is shown to be very accurate despite of its simplicity.

  • This study is concerned with an application of the boundary element method on the crack problem. The stable and efficient analysis method of two dimensional elastostatic stress intensity factor on the mode I deformations is established from the result o stress analysis for the center cracked plates. In order to precisely analyse, The subelements of quadratic element, singular elements on the crack tip and interface and division into regions are applied to elastic stress. The usefulness of the method has been tested with a center cracked plates, a double edge cracked plate and a single edge cracked plate, and the results have turned out to be fairly satisfactory.

  • For an efficient sliding mode control system stability and chattering avoidance should be guaranteed. A continuation method using boundary layer is well known as one solution for this. However since not only model uncertainties and disturbances but also control task itself is variable. it is practically impossible to set controller parameters - control discontinuity, control bandwidth, boundary layer thickness - in advance. In this paper first an adaptation law of control discontinuity is introduced to assure system stability and then fuzzy logic based tuning algorithm of design parameters is applied based on monitored performance indices of tracking error, control chattering, and model precision. In the end maximum control bandwidth not exciting unmodeled dynamics and minimum control discontinuity, boundary layer thickness making system stable and free of chattering are found respectively. This eliminates control chattering and enhances control accuracy as much as possible under given control situation. In order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm safe headway maintenance control for autonomous transportation system is simulated. The control results show that the proposed algorithm guarantees system stability all the time and tunes control parameters consistently and in consequence implements an efficient control in terms of both accuracy and actuator chattering.

  • In this paper, the solutions of TE(transverse electric) scattering problems by a condutive strip grating over a dielectric layer are analyzed by using the FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method) and PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The scattered electromagnetic fields are expanded in a series of floguet mode functions, the boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, and the conductive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the induced surface current density on the strip. The numerical results for the reflected and transmitted power of zeroth mode analyzed by according as the width and spacing of conductive strip, the relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layer, and incident angles. Generally, according to the relative permittivity of dielectric layer increased, also the normalized reflected power of zeroth mode increased. To examine the accruacy of this paper, the numerical results of FGMM shown in good agreement compared to those of PMM.

  • An H-Plane waveguide component with arbitrary shape is analyzed using finite element method(FEM) Cooperated with boundary element method(BEM). For the application of BEM in the waveguide structure, a ray representation of the waveguide Green's function is used. This technique is applied to the analysis of the waveguide inductive junction. The results are compared with the results of the mode matching technique. The comparison shows good agreement.
