We present a method of boundary extraction of moving objects. We propose four methods for detecting moving edge pixels which can be located on the boundaries of moving objects. We select the best one after we test the above four methods to real image sequences. The portion of the boundaries of moving objects which is marked as moving edge pixels is searched along the moving edge pixels with simple heuristics. And the end points of the resultant line segments are utilized as the start points of the secon stage heuristic search. This second stage search is performed for the boundaries of moving objects which is not marked as moving edge pixels due to various reasons. We test our algorithm for two real sequences and we find that this simple algorithm has good performance.

In this paper, trademark image retrieval system is proposed by using color information and shape information. We use the image for a color information by dividing into the area and extracting the area color distribution histogram. We use for the shape information by preprocessing of the boundary extraction, the centroid extraction, angular sampling etc. and calculating of the sum of the distance from the centroid to the boundary, the standard deviation, and the rate of long axis to short axis. In particular, centroid by using the angular sampling can extract feature and reduce the processing time. Users can perform searchs using the color and shape information, and also the two methods by mixing can be used by weighting.

Resident time of the centrifugal extractor for organic phase extraction using a height controlled separator weir and a divert plate is the important factor that affects significantly the chemical material extraction and the productivity in the chemical and mechanical processes. In this paper, it describes the design of the device for extraction of an organic phase from radioactive wastes, and considers phase separating weir and divert disk, both being designed to be adjustable in their positions, for effectively separating an organic phase. A height-adjustable separating weir unit used for separating the organic phase from the aqueous phase using a phase separating weir and designed to control the height of the separating weir as desired so as to allow the weir to be positioned at a boundary layer between two separated phases. The centrifugal extractor controls satisfactorily the mixed reaction time of two phases within the separator regardless of the variations of the mixing ratio of the two phases and the rotating speed of the extractor, is designed to be adjustable in its position in the vertical direction, thus allowing the user to appropriately select the mixed reaction time of the two phases within the extractor as desired. From development of a centrifugal extractor, it can effectively recover such usable elements, and preferably reducing the output quantity of radioactive wastes.
This paper investigates the free vibrations of cylindrical shells made of time-dependent materials for different viscoelastic models under various boundary conditions. During the extraction of equations, the displacement field is estimated through the first-order shear deformation theory taking into account the transverse normal strain effect. The constitutive equations follow Hooke's Law, and the kinematic relations are linear. The assumption of axisymmetric is included in the problem. The governing equations of thick viscoelastic cylindrical shell are determined for Maxwell, Kelvin-Voigt and the first and second types of Zener's models based on Hamilton's principle. The motion equations involve four coupled partial differential equations and an analytical method based on the elementary theory of differential equations is used for its solution. Relying on the results, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of viscoelastic shells are identified. Conducting a parametric study, we examine the effects of geometric and mechanical properties and boundary conditions, as well as the effect of transverse normal strain on natural frequencies. The results in this paper are compared against the results obtained from the finite elements analysis. The results suggest that solutions achieved from the two methods are ideally consistent in a special range.

We propose a knowledge-based algorithm for extracting an object boundary from low-quality image like the forward looking infrared image. With the multi-classes training data set, the global shape is modeled by multispace KL(MKL)[1] and curvature model. And the objective function for fitting the deformable boundary template represented by the shape model to true boundary in an input image is formulated by Bales rule. Simulation results show that our method has more accurateness in case of multi-classes training set and performs better in the sense of computation cost than point distribution model(PDM)[2]. It works well in distortion under the noise, pose variation and some kinds of occlusions.
Voice activity detection (VAD) is a process that separates the noise region from silence or noise region of input speech signal. Since unvoiced consonant signals have very similar characteristics to those of noise signals, it may result in serious distortion of unvoiced consonants, or in erroneous noise estimation to can out VAD without paying special attention on unvoiced consonants. In this paper, we propose a method to extract in an explicit way the boundaries between unvoiced consonant and noise in fluent speech so that more exact VAD could be performed. The proposed method is based on histogram in frequency domain which was successfully used by Hirsch for noise estimation, and a1so on similarity measure of frequency components between adjacent frames, To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, experiments on unvoiced consonant boundary extraction was performed on seven kinds of noisy speech signals of 10 ㏈ and 15 ㏈ SNR respectively.
In this paper, we proposed a method using sub-edge information extracted through a hierarchical structure in the process of generating super resolution based on a single image. In order to improve the quality of super resolution, it is necessary to clearly distinguish the shape of each area while clearly expressing the boundary area in the image. The proposed method assists edge information of the image in deep learning based super resolution method to create an improved super resolution result while maintaining the structural shape of the boundary region, which is an important factor determining the quality in the super resolution process. In addition to the group convolution structure for performing deep learning based super resolution, a separate hierarchical edge accumulation extraction process based on high-frequency band information for sub-edge extraction is proposed, and a method of using it as an auxiliary feature is proposed. Experimental results showed about 1% performance improvement in PSNR and SSIM compared to the existing super resolution.

Buildings become complex and diverse with time. It is difficult to extract individual buildings using only an optical image, because they have similar spectral characteristics to objects such as vegetation and roads. In this study, we propose a method to extract building area and boundary through integrating airborne Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR) data and aerial images. Firstly, a binary edge map was generated using Edison edge detector after applying Adaptive dynamic range linear stretching radiometric enhancement algorithm to the aerial image. Secondly, building objects on airborne LiDAR data were extracted from normalized Digital Surface Model and aerial image. Then, a temporary building areas were extracted by overlaying the binary edge map and building objects extracted from LiDAR data. Finally, some building boundaries were additionally refined considering positional accuracy between LiDAR data and aerial image. The proposed method was applied to two experimental sites for validation. Through error matrix, F-measure, Jaccard coefficient, Yule coefficient, and Overall accuracy were calculated, and the values had a higher accuracy than 0.85.

LIDAR data, as the source of the 3D information of buildings, are used many modeling fields such as three-dimensional city models in urban planning and the visibility analysis of buildings. This study suggests a methodology, that is characterized by combining image-based and point-based process, for minimizing the user's intervention and automatically extracting building boundary only using the LIDAR data. Image processing methodology is firstly used to separate building and non-building regions from LIDAR data. Moreover, building regions are then classified main roof into remaining parts by the statistical analysis of height values, and the remaining parts are processed separately. Through the experimental results of study areas which exist many types of buildings, for example, apartment-type, stair-type, complex-type, etc. Approximately 90% building boundaries are automatically extracted by the proposed methodology.

Although many studies have been conducted to extract buildings from airborne lidar data, most of them assume that all the boundaries of a building are straight line segments. This makes it difficult to model building boundaries containing curved segments correctly. This paper aims to model buildings containing curved segments as combination of straight lines and arcs. First, two sets of boundary points are extracted by adaptive convex hull algorithm and local convex hull algorithm with a larger radius. Then, arc segments are determined by average spacing of boundary points and intersection ratio of perpendicular lines. Finally, building boundary is modeled through regularization of least squares line or circle fitting. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can model the curved building boundaries as arc segments correctly by completeness of 69% and correctness of 100%. The approach will be utilized effectively to create automatically digital map that meets the conditions of the Korean digital mapping.
