근관 표피세포(border cell)는 근관(root cap)의 최외각 세포층에서 분화된 단일세포로서, 물리적인 힘을 가하면 예를 들어 근관의 근관 표피세포를 물로 씻어내면, 20∼25시간 이후에는 새로운 층의 근관 표피세포가 근관에 형성된다. 이 새로운 층의 완두 근관 표피세포가 형성되는 동안 근관 표피세포가 제거된 근관에서는 새로운 유전자 발현이 일어나고 있음이 mRNA differential display로 확인되었다. 즉, 이들 근관에서 새롭게 발현되는 유전자들의 일부는 근관 표피 세포의 분화에 관련되어 있다고 볼 수 있다. 또한, 단일 세포로 분화된 근관 표피세포에서는 독특한 유전자 발현이 일어나고 있음이 mRNA differential display로 확인되었다. 이 결과로 알 수 있는 것은 근관 표피세포는 다른 조직(잎, 줄기, 뿌리와 근관 표피세포가 제거된 근관)과는 다른 독특한 기능을 가졌다는 것이다.

The article considers some issues of criminal law protection of information relations. With the emergence of new types of threats to Ukraine's national security in the field of protection and defense of the state border, the issues of development and strengthening of information protection become especially important. Proper compliance with information legislation also depends on the established responsibility for its violation, which rests on certain provisions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is stated that these norms are placed in different sections and do not have a proper systematization. The article singles out the subjects of information relations in the border area, which are subject to criminal law protection: persons who are not bound by stable relations with the SBGS (who cross the state border of Ukraine, etc.); persons who are members of the SBGS (servicemen and employees); SBGS as a public authority (official and secret information, information about the activities of the agency, its officials, etc.).

Purpose - With the improvement of people's living standards, traveling abroad has become a common way for people to release the pressure of life and work. In economics, this kind of way can affect the international trade. Because of this background, this paper sets BRICS countries as an example to explore the impact of cross-border tourism on bilateral trade. Research design, data, and Methodology - The annual time series data sets form 1998 to 2016 are used to perform an empirical analysis under a series of econometric approaches such as the Phillips-Perron test and the Engle-Granger two-step test. In this paper, the cross-border tourism and the bilateral trade will be used to conduct an empirical analysis based on the econometric approaches to analyze the impact of cross-border tourism on bilateral trade. Results - The finding of this paper show that there is a long-run relationship between cross-border tourism and bilateral trade in this sample. Moreover, the cross-border tourism is the Granger causality of bilateral trade. Namely, the cross-border tourism can promote the development of bilateral trade. Conclusions - In short, the evidences that this paper presents show that the cross-border tourism is a driving factor that impacts the bilateral trade in the sample of BRICS countries.

본고는 태국 국경 도시 매솟에 자리한 미얀마 이주민 클리닉(매따오 클리닉)이 어떻게 이주민들의 건강을 증진하고 초국적 의료 이동성을 촉진하는지 살펴본다. 1989년에 설립된 매따오 클리닉은 비합법적 지위이지만 국경지역에서 독보적인 의료기관으로 성장했다. 태국 당국조차도 지역 사회의 보건 개선에 이바지하는 그 클리닉의 역할과 중요성을 인정하고 있으며 태국 의료기관은 그 클리닉과 협력관계를 맺고 있다. 본고는 매따오 클리닉이 보건을 보편적인 인권문제로 내세우고 여러 다양한 파트너들과 긴밀한 협력 관계를 구축했기에 비합법적인 지위를 극복하고 국경지역의 중심 의료기관으로 성장했다고 밝힌다. 나아가 본고는 매따오 클리닉이 열악한 의료 환경 탓에 적절한 치료를 받지 못하는 미얀마 내의 환자들도 돌보는 역할을 하고 있다는 점을 밝히며 초국적 의료 이동성의 새로운 측면을 부각시킨다. 미얀마의 민주화 과정과 지역통합의 움직임 속에서도 매따오 클리닉은 국경지역의 정당한 의료기관으로서 여러 주체들과 파트너십을 강화하고 있으며 그 역할과 기여가 유지되고 있다는 점을 밝힌다.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between internal control, economic policy uncertainty, and performance of cross-border merger and acquisition (M&A) based on the panel data of Chinese listed firms. The authors expected that internal control has a positive moderating effect on the performance of cross-border M&A and that it mainly occurs during periods when economic policies are relatively stable. In addition, the authors tried to find out the mechanism of internal control affecting cross-border M&A and the corporate performance. Design/methodology - The authors tested the hypotheses by a multivariate regression model based on the panel data of Chinese listed firms from 2009 to 2017. The dependent variable is the change value of business performance (DROA_1,2,3) and the explanatory variables are cross-border M&A (MA), China's uncertainty of economic policy (EPU), and internal control level (IC) respectively. Findings - The authors find that internal control has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between cross-border M&A and corporate performance. Further, the authors find that the moderating effect is more significant in state-owned enterprises and that it mainly occurs during periods when economic policies are relatively stable. Originality/value - This paper is the leading study that tries to analyze empirically the relationship between internal control, economic policy uncertainty, and performance of cross-border M&A. It provides a new avenue through which internal control might reasonably mitigate the risks of cross-border M&A and correspondingly improve the performance of cross-border M&A. It also confirms the moderating effect of internal control on the performance of cross-border M&A under the uncertainty of economic policy.

In recent times, the volume of cross-border e-commerce has witnessed an upward trend and has been accompanied by increased disputes, with cross-border e-commerce being characterized mainly by low value and large volume issues. For this reason, Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) was formed to carry out dispute resolutions in cross-border e-commerce. A virtual multi-door ODR platform for small value, cross-border disputes in e-commerce is then proposed in this paper. For a couple of decades, researchers have tried to employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Law. However, it turns out that they were faced with a couple of obstacles to integrate AI to Law since it is highly difficult to program AI to process the common sense of a human being. For example, AI cannot assimilate the affective side of a human being, and it is problematic to integrate a human being's common sense into the AI system. Considering this situation, this study puts forward an ODR model for cross-border e-commerce in the evolutionary perspective.

Objectives: In this paper, we aimed to investigate the evolving debate over border closure in Korea during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, to address the main themes associated with border closure, and to discuss the factors that need to be considered when making such decisions. Methods: We collated and reviewed previously conducted review studies on border closures during infectious disease outbreaks to derive relevant themes and factors. Results: According to our systematic review on border closures and travel restrictions, the effects of such containment efforts are limited. We suggest considering the following factors when determining whether to impose border closure measures: (1) disease characteristics, (2) timeliness of implementation, (3) transmission delay and the basic reproduction number, (4) globalization and pandemics, and (5) social and economic costs. Conclusions: Our assessment indicates that the effects of border closures are at best temporary and limited. Alternative measures must be contemplated and implemented to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in particular and infectious diseases more broadly.

Luis Humberto Crosthwaite, as a witness to the accelerated changes in Tijuana since the 80's, has built a chronicle of the city based on nostalgia, fantasy, popular language, music, and criticism of the inequality between both sides of the border, but above all, on humour and irony. Among the gallery of characters that populate his stories, the common resident of the border has a special place. Here we are not talking about the passing person or newcomers, but of those who have shaped their social and personal identity from a long every day relationship with the city and the borderline, which makes up what we will call the border-being. In this work, we dialogue with the psychoanalytic concept of border personality or borderline disorder, which refers in a general way to subjects with a deep fracture between the self and the being, which prompts a psychotic search to reconcile this division. In addition, we will engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue to analyse how Crosthwaite characterises the fracture of the border-subjects in some of the stories of the book Instrucciones para cruzar la frontera, to point out the psychosis caused by the sociocultural tensions of life in a border city like Tijuana.

Purpose - Based on the relevant panel data for China and 13 of the RCEP countries from 2008-2019, this paper conducts an in-depth study on the impact of trade facilitation levels on China's cross-border e-commerce exports using the expanded trade gravity model. Design/methodology - This study constructs a trade facilitation index (TFI) system, and uses the principal component analysis method to measure the trade facilitation levels of RCEP countries in 2008-2019. This result is then introduced into the extended gravity model to explore the effect of trade facilitation in RCEP countries on China's cross-border e-commerce export. Findings - It is found that the overall trade facilitation level has a significant effect on China's cross-border e-commerce exports. Among the primary indicators, with the exception of infrastructure, the other four indicators demonstrate a significant impact. The findings show that China should strengthen its cooperation with RCEP countries in trade facilitation and cross-border e-commerce to better achieve complementary regional economic development. Originality/value - This paper has three contributions: first, this paper builds a TFI system that includes five primary indicators based on the characteristics of cross-border e-commerce. Second, we explore the impact of trade facilitation levels of RCEP countries on China's cross-border e-commerce exports, which helps to fill the gap in existing studies of the impact of cross-border e-commerce exports. Third, this paper further analyzes the impact of five primary indicators on cross-border e-commerce exports; this thus provides more targeted measures to improve trade facilitation levels.
