Droplet size prediction model based on the upper limit log-normal distribution function in venturi scrubber

  • Droplet size and distribution are important parameters determining venturi scrubber performance. In this paper, we proposed physical models for a maximum stable droplet size prediction and upper limit log-normal (ULLN) distribution parameters. For the proposed maximum stable droplet size prediction model, a Eulerian-Lagrangian framework and a Reitz-Diwakar breakup model are solved simultaneously using CFD calculations to reflect the effect of multistage breakup and droplet acceleration. Then, two ULLN distribution parameters are suggested through best fitting the previously published experimental data. Results show that the proposed approach provides better predictions of maximum stable droplet diameter and Sauter mean diameter compared to existing simple empirical correlations including Boll, Nukiyama and Tanasawa. For more practical purpose, we developed the simple, one dimensional (1-D) calculation of Sauter mean diameter.

FECAL BOLl COUNT, A NEW CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING THE ANTI-STRESS EFFECT OF GINSENG

  • Panax ginseng has been reported to protect animals or to help them recover from physical, chemical, or biological stress. The antistress effects of ginseng were evaluated through the measurement of adrenal ascorbic acid, rectal temperature, and plasma level of glucose. lipids and corticosterone. During the treadmill experiments of the antifatigue study, the groups of rats receiving P. ginseng or P. quinquefolius extracts were consistently found to leave fewer fecal boli on the wheel compared with controls. This phenomenon may be due to the reported antistress effects of ginseng. Another possibility could be that the Panax species examined produced anticholinergic effects which in turn inhibited the production of fecal boli. After an anticholinergic study. employing physostigmine and atropine as controls, anticholinergic effect was found not essential for the decrease of fecal boli number left on the wheels during antifatigue studies. The results were consistent with the antistress activity reported previously. Even though the active constituents responsible for the antistress effects of ginseng remained to be determined, the fecal boli counts for stressed rats can be employed as a new protocol for evaluating the antistress effects of ginseng.

목포지방 기상요인과 단작목화의 생육 및 섬유수량과의 관계 (Relationship between Meteorological Factors and Lint Yield of Monoculture Cotton in Mokpo Area)

  • 1978년부터 1992년까지 작물시험장목포지장의 시험포장에서 재배하여 관측한 목화의 4품종(Kinggus, 용당재래, 113-4,380)의 주요특성과 재배기문중 관측된 기상자과를 이용하여 목화 단작의 생육 및 수량과 기상요인과의 및 수량 추정식을 한 유도는 다음과 같다. 1. 기상요인중 변이가 큰 것은 7월의 강수량과 폭풍일수로서 변이계수가 84.89%, 97.05%로 높았고 5~9월중의 평균기온과 최고기온 및 최저기온은 비교적 변이가 적었다. 2. 생육및 수량형질의 변이는 9,10월의 적채면수량에서 68.77%, 78.52%로 높아서 연차간변이가 아주 컸고 조면비율과 결과지수는 11.77%, 19.13%로 변이가 약간 컸으며 개화기와 개서기는 6.05%, 7.83%로 변이가 아주 적어서 연차간 변이가 아주 적었음을 알 수 있었다. 3. 5월의 강수량과 결과지수간, 7월의 일조시수와 삭수간, 7월의 최고기온과 적채면 수량간, 8월의 증발량과 적채면 수량간에는 고도의 정의 상관이 인정되었다. 4. 7월의 기상요인($X_1$~$X_8$)을 이용하여 9. 10. 11월의 총적채면 수량(Y)을 추정한 결과 Y =-1080.8515 + 144.7133$X_1$+15.8722$X_2$ + 164.9367$X_3$ + 0.0802$X_4$ + 0.5932$X_5$ + 11.3373$X_6$ + 3.4683$X_7$ - 9.0846$X_8$(r=0.8448**)의 회귀식을 유도할 수 있었으며 8월의 기상요인(X$_4$를 제외한 X$_1$~X$_{9}$)을 이용하여 총적채면 수량(Y)을 추정한 결과 Y =2835.2497 + 57.9134$X_1$ - 46.9055$X_2$ - 41.5886$X_3$ + 1.2559$X_5$ - 21.9687$X_6$- 3.3763$X_7$- 4.1080$X_8$- 17.5586$X_9$의 회귀식을 유도할 수 있었으며, 이 식을 이용하여 실제수량과 이론수량과의 관계를 분석한 결과 일직선상에 아주 가깝게 추정하여 오차가 적었다.

비닐피복이 모화의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Vinyl-mulching Culture on Growth and Yield of Cotton( Gosspium hirsutum L.))

  • 우리나라에서의 목화재배는 방적원료생산이 아닌 혼수용을 위한 제면원료 생산이란 의미에서만이 재배적인 의미를 찾을 수 있게 되었다. 본 연구는 제면원료 수요양시과 양질솜 다수확재배를 위해 비닐멀칭재배를 도입, 목화수량과 품질에 미치는 효과를 검토했던 바 관행무피복재배보다 배 이상의 증수효과를 얻게 되었다. 그 결과를 요약하면다음과 같다. 1. 출현기와 개화소요일수에서 비닐피복은 관행무피복보다 모든 파종기에서 빠르고, 짧았으며 비닐피복파종에서는 파종기가 빠를수록 개화소요일수가 단축되었다. 2. 개노소요일수에서도 비닐피복파종기가 빠를수록 2∼7일 단축되었고 무피복재배에 비해서는 무려 8∼15 일이나 비닐피복재배가 단축되었다. 3. 초장, 결과지수, 주당삭수에서는 비닐피복은 무피복보다 초장에서 2∼29cm 더 길어서 생육이 장대하였고 결과지수는 4월 10일 조파비닐피복이 무피복보다 거의 2배나 많았으며 주당삭수에서도 4월10일 조파 비닐피복이 관행무피복보다 주당 15∼24개가 더 달려 2배가되었다. 4. 적심면수량은 무피복보다 비닐피복이 큰 차이로 많았으며 파종기별 비닐피복에서는 빠를수록 많아서 조파 4월 10일 비닐피복이 무피복보다 128%나 더 많았는데 적심면비율은 무피복 79% 4월 10일 비닐피복이 99%였다. 5. 소면수량과 소면비율에서는 무피복보다는 비닐피복이, 파종기는 빠를수록 소면비율이 높았으며 따라서 소면수량도 4월 10일 조파비닐피복이 무피복보다 수원 001에서 76%(104kg/ 10a) 목포 7호에서 90%(93kg/10a) 증수되었다. 6. 수원과 무안 2개 지역에서의 비닐피복 효과는 무피복보다 비닐피복이 수원에서 최고 90% 소면수량이 증수되었고 무안에서는 최고 168% 증수되어 비닐피복 증수효과가 남부인 무안에서 더 컸다. 7. 목화섬유장과 면실유 지방산조성에서는 비닐피복이 무피복보다 섬유장에서 약간 더 길었으며 면실유의 주지방산인 리놀산은 4월 10일 조기비닐피복 파종이 무피복보다 높아 양질지방산조성이었다.

고 정밀 캠 프로파일 CNC 연삭기의 구조설계 및 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Structural Design and Evaluation of the High Precision Cam Profile CNC Grinding Machine)

  • A cam profile CNC grinding machine is developed for manufacture of high precision contoured cams. The developed machine is composed of the high precision spindle using boll bearings, the high stiffness box layer type bed and the three axis CNC controller with the high resolution AC servo motor. In this paper, structural and modal analysis for the developed machine is carried out to check the design criteria of the machine. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. The machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements. And also, this paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation. The results provide structure modification data for good dynamic behaviors. And safety of the machine was confirmed by the modal analysis of modified machine design. Finally, the cam profile grinding machine was successfully developed.

  • Space Science and Technology Laboratory at Kyung Hee University developed an 80cm Nasmyth telescope with the joint work of Space & Astronomy, Inc. It was set up at Muju county public astronomical observatory in Jeonlabuk-Do. Nasmyth focus system was selected for the telescope to use two focal points by a rotatable tertiary mirror. Focal ratios of the telescope are f10, f5 respectively. Support of the main mirror is made with Lasalle-system. This system uses 24-points in the back side of the mirror that are all resting on small counter-weights and side support is 10-points Boll link Flexible type with 2 Lasalle type. The mount is wheel & disk type Alt-Azimuth design using DC-servo motors. External high accuracy encoder has 47,600 sine-waves/rot. These encoders are used to make real-time corrections on all gearing errors.

  • The silkworm Bombyx mori L. was studied as the potential “host” of popular in Uzbekistan biocontrol ectoparasite, entomophagous Bracon hebetor Say. Being one of representatives of economic-beneficial insects, the silkworm (larvae, pupae and imago) can be used as highly sensitive test organism for revealing of neuro toxic effects of insects venom as well as of their purified components in screening assays. In comparative aspect, except a mulberry silkworm, representatives of Uzbekistan pests cotton-boll worm Helycoverpa armigera Hbn., lesser mulberry pyralid Glyphodes pyloalis Wlk., codling moth Corpocapsa pomonella L., malaria mosquito Anopheles claviger and Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say have been subjected to insect toxic test of bracon venom gland extract (VGE) and its fractions which were obtained by gel-chromatography on Sephadex G-100. The paralyzing effect of the VGE and its fractions was shown in a various degree on the pests.

조선 초.중기 양반부녀복식의 복요(服妖) 유행을 응용한 구체관절인형 고증의상 디자인 연구 (A Study on the Design for a Boll Jointed Doll's Costume with the Ladies' Vogue of Bok-yo in the Early-middle Joseon Dynasty)

  • This study investigates costumes for ball jointed dolls under the theme of Bok-yo(服妖): The Lady in Early-middle Joseon with relic costumes as a reference. The Bok-yo style was spread universally for Joseon women in the $15^{th}-16^{th}$ centuries, but it is an uncommon theme in the area of media and traditional costume for dolls. Bok-yo (curious outfit), consisted of a Dang-jeogori with a golden brocade in the front bottom, manlike Jang-ot, wide Chima, and Jang-ot was dressed between Chima and the Dang-jeogori. To make correct patterns and approvals for idle bodies of female ball-jointed dolls, darts are added in the front vertical line and center back of the golden brocade Dan-jeogori for Joseon ladies. The pattern of the golden brocade Chima is made as a trapezoid shape for the thin waist of a doll, and the length of a deep-greened silk gauze The Jang-ot increased because of the length of the doll's legs. In addition, the kinds of investigated accessories, hair, traditional underwear for dolls are limited. Suggested is a closer cooperation between the investigated costume designers, doll companies, and accessory makers for the future market of ball jointed dolls.

Biology of a predatory bug Eocanthecona furcellata Wolff (Hemiptera : Pentatomidae) on Vapourer tussock moth larvae: a major pest of tasar silkworm food plants

  • Tropical Tasar culture is forest and agro-based activity that covers agricultural and industrial activity. Tasar silk is produced by the silkworm, Antheraea mylitta which is polyphagous in nature. A large number of pests are reported to attack both the host plant as well as silkworm. As the rearing is conducted outdoor silkworms are exposed to attack of various pests during their life cycle. Eocanthecona furcellata (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is the major predator of tasar silkworm during young age rearing. Both nymphs and adults of the stink bug suck the heamolymph of silkworm leading to death. The present work was undertaken to study the life cycle of E. furcellata on larvae of vapourer tussock moth which is a major pest of tasar host plants. The incubation period, nymphal duration and total developmental period from egg to adult was $8.0{\pm}0.45d$, $16.0{\pm}3.24$ and $22.0{\pm}4.20d$, respectively. Pre-oviposition, oviposition and longevity of male and female stink bug was $3.20{\pm}0.38$, $17.60{\pm}1.86$, $42.40{\pm}1.94$, $37.00{\pm}3.18d$, respectively. Analysis of the data revealed no significant difference in life cycle of the predator when provided silkworm and vapourer tussock moth larvae as hosts. Which clearly indicates that E. furcellata can multiply on vapourer tussock moth larvae during non rearing periods. Adoption of recommended pest control measures for defoliators of tasar host plants during non-rearing periods will help in reducing the incidence of host plant pests and also in reducing the incidence of stink bug during rearing season. During the study it was also observed that larvae semilooper, boll headed caterpillar and nymphs of leaf hopper serve as alternate/secondary hosts to E. furcellata during non rearing seasons.

Ethrel처리가 맥후작 면화의 숙기단축과 수량 및 섬유품질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Ethre1 Spraying on Shortening Maturity, Yield of Seed Cotton before Frost and Fiber Quality of Upland Cotton)

  • 맥후작 면화재배에서 숙기를 단축하고 적채면수량을 증가시키고자 본실험을 실시하였든바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 맥후작 면화재배에서 10월상순 Ethrel를 산포하면 적채면화율이 무처리구의 38%에 비하여 2,000ppm처리구의 그것은 93%였으며 개서는 20일이나 앞당겨 졌다. 2) 수량에서는 무처리구에 비하여 Ethrel처리구가 15%∼38%까지 증수되었다. 3) 한편 섬유장과 섬유장력에 있어서는 처리구는 무처리구와 차이 없었으나 적채면과 목채면간에는 무처리구 및 Ethrel처리구에 있어서 각각 평균 1.3mm 정도 목채면이 더 짧았다. 4) 1삭중과 종자 100립중에서도 Ethrel처리로 인한 차이는 전혀 없었으나 적채면과 목채면간에서는 목채면이 훨씬 가벼웠다. 5) Ethrel로 처리된 적채면종자는 무처리의 그것에 비하여 발아가 촉진되었다. 그러나 목채면종자의 발아율은 철된것이나 안된것이나 바슷했다. 6) 이상의 결과로서 맥후작면화재배에 있어서 만숙장섬유품종을 도입하여도 Ethrel를 적용하면 적채면수량이 더욱 증가된다고 본다.
