Bojungiki-tang is a traditional oriental medicine to boost the immune system. In this study, we investigated the effects of Bojungiki-tang by withdrawal of isolation of VRE colonization. Four cases of post-stroke patients with VRE colonization took Bojungiki-tang and continuously were followed up with stool cultures. After three times negative stool VRE, we withdrew isolation of VRE colonization. One case patient was diagnosed with VRE colonization in another hospital and had no withdrawal during that period. He was admitted to Kyung-hee University Oriental Medicine where he took Bojungiki-tang. After three times negative stool VRE, we withdrew isolation of the patient. These results demonstrate that Bojungiki-tang is effective on boosting immunity level. Further studies are needed to better characterize this protective effect of Bojungiki-tang.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate an effect of Bojungiki-Tang in two cases of the Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia in functional dyspepsia Methods : Subjects were 2 patients with Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia. The patients had suffered from a dyspepsia that were not improved by medical treatments. We gave Bojungiki -Tang to the patients 30 minutes after each meal and tried acupuncture and moxibustion 2 times every day. And we had evaluated the condition of patients using a Ryodoraku test and ordinal scales. Results : After the comparison between an admission and discharge date at Ryodoraku test and ordinal scales, we knowed that conditions of two Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia patients had improved. Conclusions : Bojungiki-Tang is effective on the improvement of conditions in the Gastric dysmotility-like Dyspepsia patients.

■ Objectives The purpose of this case report is to show the effect of Bojungiki-tang on a patient complaining dysuria and urinary pain caused by repeated urinary tract infection(UTI) occurred after onset of cerebral infarction. ■ Methods A cerebral infarction patient with repeated UTI was treated with herbal medication, Bojungiki-tang. Then we evaluated the improvement with amount of total urine output, nelaton catheterization urine output and self voiding urine output. ■ Results Increase in amount of total and self voiding urine output and decrease in amount of nelaton urine output were observed after taking Bojungiki-tang. ■ Conclusion This case showed the effect of Bojungiki-tang on dysuria and urinary pain caused by repeated UTI.

Objectives : To assess the effect of Bojungiki-tang for symptomatic management in stable asthmatic patients after initial treatment. Methods : Outcome measures of asthmatic patients were recorded using patient's charts and inquiry. Compared with the patient's state right after they got their treatment, "Excellent" was if it was almost the same state, "Good" was if the patient's state was maintained for almost 70%, "Fair" was for 50%, "Poor" was for under 50% or if the patient required another treatment. Results : Of 25 patients, 21 used Bojungiki-tang for more than one month and 20 maintained a stable state, that is, feeling more than 70% of symptom control compared with previous best status. Conclusions : Bojungiki-tang has a good effect for maintaining asthma after treatment.

The chronic non-bacterial prostatis disease is relatively incurable, chronic and recurrent. Due to its prostatis barrier, chronic non-bacterial prostatis disease is difficult to be penetrated with Medicine. Nevertheless, we obtained the desired results using the method of iki action by Bojungiki-tang. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of treatment and change of WBC numerical index using Bojungiki-tang. We investigated one chronic non-bacterial prostatis disease for about one year with NIH chronic prostatis symptom index, expressed prostatic secretion(EPS). After the treatment, symptom index score was decreased from 27 to 1. Also WBC numerical index by EPS test was decreased to zero. These results indicate that oriental medical therapy is effective in treating chronic non-bacterial prostatis disease. Therefore further study of the effect of herb-medicine is necessary.

The main symptoms of allergic rhinitis are sternulation, rhinorrhea and rhinanchon. It is also characterized by frontal headache, ohotophobia and epiphora. Alleric rhinitis occurs when inhaled alleren is in contact with nasal mucosa which causes immune response. Bojungiki-Tang is one of the most frequently used medical treatment for the allergic rhinitis. Two chronic perennial allergic rhinitis sutterers, whose alleraies are thought to be due to house dust and ticks, were investigated through the eosinoohil numerical index and the subject symptom numerical index for three months. After treatment, both patients showed a lower index for both tests. The symptom index scores diminished from 17 to 3, and from 16 to 5. The eosinophil numerical index taken through blood tests, diminised from 4 to 2, and from 4 to 3. The above results suggest that Bojungiki-Tang has the inhibitory effects on allergic rhinitis.

Objectives : The discussion of enlargement of Korean Medical insurance has been existed since 1987. But it had less effects. For better discussion, we compared insured herbal extracts and clinical prescriptions. Methods : The database of insured herbal extracts and clinical prescriptions bas set up to compare the ratios of herbal weight and analyze indications of insured herbal extracts and diagnosis and chief complain of clinical prescriptions. Results & Conclusions : The most frequent insured herbal extract is Bojungiki-tang. Analysis about indications of insured herbal extracts and diagnosis and chief complain of clinical prescriptions is that Bojungiki-tang is used frequently for gastrointestinal diseases, pulmonary diseases, and not for diseases. Bojungikgi-tang is also used for muscloskeletal dieases, hemorrhage, and ischemia.

Objective: We got good effect on one patient who was diagnosed One-and-a-half Syndrome. We report this case with a brief review of related literatures. Method : In the point of Differentiation of Syndrome, these subjects were diagnosed as Giheo(氣虛). We treated her with acupuncture and herbal medication(Bojungiki-tang: 補中益氣湯) Result & Conclusion : Symptoms of the patient on this report were improved after above treatment. this case showed oriental medicine enough could be applied on this disease as one of conservative therapies

This study was designed to investigate about the efficiency of herb treatment at the patients with urinary tract infection. The Patient group was consisted of 33 CVA patients who were diagnosed as abnormal on urinalysis at the Oriental Medical hospital of Dong-eui University from July in 2006 to April in 2007. And we divided the patient group to 3 of small groups(Bojungikitang, Kumokpaljungsan, and the others herb). Then we treated the patients with each herbs and checked urinary nitrate, leukocyte, bacteria, WBC after 3 days, 7 days. The results are as follows: Each herbs improved the results of urinalysis inspection. The efficiency of each herbs about UTI begins to be indicated after 3days. Each herbs applied to UTI is more effective after 7 days than after 3 days. As the results, the herb treatments improve effectively the result of urinalysis inspection when precsribing to UTI patients more 7 days.
