  • Boiler design should be desinged to maximize thermal efficiency of the system under imposed load requirement and a boiler should be validated for transient operation. If a proper prediction is possible on the transient behavior and transient characteristics of a boiler, one may asses the performance of boiler component, control logics and operation procedures. In this work, dynamic modeling method of boiler is presented and dynamic simulation of load runback scenario was carried out on suprecritical oil-firing boiler.

  • The Simulation of Boiler System for Hadong Fossil power plant has been made by Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KERRI) in an attempt to develop Windown NT based full scope replica simulator for Hadong Fossil power plant, 500MWe once-through boiler. In the project KERRI developed Once Through, Super Critical type Boiler System, the core part of the Simulation and integrated the system with other process systems such as BOP System, and AUX System. This paper is to introduce the basic concept of the simulation for the Boiler System. It will also introduce PRO-TRAX System, for used as a modeling tool.

  • The focus of this paper is to implement of virtual plant using module concept for the dynamic simulation of drum type boiler and to simulate the control trends of dynamic characteristics. MAtlab & Simulink is used for implement virtual plant & analyzation the dynamics & control trends. They are available for analyzing the dynamic characteristics of drum type Boiler by means of applying well measured data to virtual plant.

  • Part load operation usually covers large periods of the total operation time on the economic ground and electricity demand in small-scale boilers. Performance analysis of part load behavior is very important for the purpose of boiler operation optimization. A simple thermal calculation approach is applied to predict performance of a pilot-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler at part load operation. Verification has been carried out by comparing between calculation results an operation data of the boiler.

  • Condensing gas boiler units may make a big role for the reduction of energy consumption in heating industries. In order to decrease the energy consumption of a condensing gas boiler unit, the effective operations and controls of the system are necessary. In this study, mathematical models of a condensing gas boiler system were developed and programmed in order to predict dynamic behaviors of the system. These include dynamic models for a blower, a gas valve, a pump, a burner, a boiler heat exchanger, and a hot water heat exchanger. Control algorithms for the control of a gas valve, a blower, and a pump were also assumed. Simulation results showed good predictions of the dynamic phenomena of a boiler system. Therefore, the simulation program developed for this study may be effectively used for the development of control algorithms of the boiler system.

  • Simulation on the hot water ONDOL heating system was made in order to investigate the variation of room temperature and specific fuel consumption of boiler. Heat balance equation was derived by response factors and solved implicitly. Variation of room temperature and specific fuel consumption of boiler were calculated with respect to the thickness of room floor, the absorptivity of wall for solar radiation, on-off temperature range of boiler and air exchange. The results show that specific fuel consumption of boiler is independent of the thickness of room floor and decreases with increasing the absorptivity of wall and on-off temperature range of boiler. However, it increases with increasing the air exchange. They also show that, when the absorptivity and on-off temperature range of boiler are increased, the amplitudes of room temperature variation increase.

  • Heating and hot water supply energy consumption of medium and multi boiler systems applied to military officer housing are compared with in-situ experiment and TRNSYS dynamic simulation program. In a multiple boiler system, small capacity boilers are connected in parallel to meet the required capacity. For handling partial loads, medium capacity boiler relies on on-off control, while multi boiler adopts PI control. Since multi boiler has higher efficiency and better control strategy, the results show that energy consumption can be reduced significantly with the multi boiler system.

  • The stable and safe operation of a boiler system is essential for ensuring stability of the chemical processes. A dynamic simulation of a boiler drum was performed to identify the dynamics of the boiler drum. The obtained results represented that the variation of process variables disturb boiler system. So, disturbance rejection with tracking and constraints handing was necessary for stable operation of boiler drum. Among many controller, GPC has been known to show good performance in set point tracking than disturbance. In order to improve disturbance rejection performance measurable disturbance term was Introduced in basic GPC model. The controller which had tracking and disturbance rejection was designed for Improving the stable operation of a boiler system.

  • In this paper we obtain a discrete mathmatical model of a Boiler control system from expermental data, we find appropriate input signal and parameter estimation algorithm for identification of the Boiler control system in power plant. Under these conditions experimental data are collected from real system and parameters are estimated by the Recursive Least Square algorithm. The computer simulation results show the parameter estimation algorithm for identification and the effectiveness of controller design of the Boiler control system.

  • In this paper, we present simulation results of Dynamic Matrix Control(DMC) to a boiler steam temperature. In order to control of steam temperature, we choose the input-output variables and generate the step response model by each input variable's step test. After that, the control structure executes on-line control with optimization using step response model. Proposed controller is applied to the APESS(Doosan company's boiler model simulator) and it is observed that the simulation results show satisfactory performance of proposed control.
