응축 가스보일러용 원통형 연소기의 화염 안정성 및 배기 특성 (Flame Stability and Emission Characteristics of Can-type Burner for Condensing Gas Boiler)

  • This study was carried out to optimize burner of the condensing gas boiler which can save energy by utilizing the latent heat of combustion gas and reduce pollutants emission. Three reasonable distances between burner and heat exchanger were decided through the experiments of model flat burner. The optimum burner geometry was determined from flame stability, pollutant emission characteristics and applicability to practical boiler system. The boiler designed by this research reaches turn-down ratio 5:1 in the domain of equivalence ratio 0.68∼0.85 and thermal efficiency of 98%. Emission of NOx and CO concentration was under 35ppm and 104ppm.

  • A commercial-scale RDF boiler that its burning capacity is 400 kg-RDF/hr and steam production capacity is 2 ton/hr. It has a chain type stoker and waste heat recovery system. Heat exchanger is vertical water-pipe so that soot blowing and removal is convenient during operation. Dry scrubber, bag filter and activated carbon tower have been installed for the reduction of air pollutant gases and dust. Analysing data of pollutants from stack such as $SO_x$. $NO_x$ and dioxin shows so good results that the boiler system could comply the regulated emission limits.

  • Finite element analysis was performed to evaluate the integrity of the tubes in the fixed tubesheet of horizontal type heat exchanger under operating condition. For the finite element analysis of the heat exchanger, tubes and tubesheets were equivalently modeled with concentroidal hexagonal columns and solid plates having equivalent properties for the convenience of finite element modeling, respectively. Load combination of tube pressure and thermal expansion most likely to precipitate possible failure of the tubes was selected and applied to the finite element analysis. The compressive stresses of the tubes were calculated based on displacements of each tube, which were obtained from anile element analysis. Finally, the maximum tube stress was compared with the design criterion of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII.

  • A separate heat pipe system capacity of 3,700kW has been developed and applied to preheating the blast furnace gas for recovery of the waste heat from boiler. The system is designed to preheat the blast furnace gas up to $126^{\circ}C$ by using tho boiler exhaust gas of which temperature is $180^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$. The arrangement of the fin tubes as well as the shape of the fin has been carefully determined to minimize the fouling problems. The heat pipe system was found to be stable in circulation of the working fluid and the range of the temperature variation of the preheated blast furnace gas was within $10^{\circ}C$. It was proved through a long-term test that the selected tube arrangement and the shape of the fins are proper to prevent the fouling problems and that the pay-back period of the system Is within one year.

  • A 2-loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for the improvement of fuel efficiency of gasoline vehicles has been investigated. A high temperature loop is used to recover waste heat from exhaust gas and a low temperature loop is used to recover waste heat from cold engine coolant. This paper has dealt with a layout of low temperature loop system, the review of the velocity contours through numerical analysis. According to the result of analysis, the designed heat exchanger. And comparing with flow analysis results, LT Boiler is safe to operation.

  • 보일러나 열교환기의 관 벽에 부착되는 스케일 방지용으로 설계된 초음파 발신기는 전기적 에너지를 초음파로 변환시켜주는 자왜소자와 발생된 초음파를 부하매질에 전달하는 도파봉으로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 진동자로 사용되는 자왜소자의 형상설계와 진동자에서 발생된 초음파를 증폭시켜 부하매질로 전달하기 위한 몇 가지 형태의 도파봉에 대해 이론해석을 수행하여 필요한 사양을 도출하였다. 최종적인 도파봉의 길이는 음압 측정을 통해 선정하였다. 마지막으로 제작된 초음파발신기를 사용하여 보일러와 유사한 조건에서 스케일 방지효과를 확인하였다.

A Study on Velocity Profiles between Two Baffles in a Horizontal Circular Tube

  • The shell and tube heat exchanger is an essential part of a power plant for recovering transfer heat between the feed water of a boiler and the wasted heat. The baffles are also an important element inside the heat exchanger. Internal materials influence the flow pattern in the bed. The influence of baffles in the velocity profiles was observed using a three-dimensional PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) around baffles in a horizontal circular tube. The velocity of the particles was measured before the baffle and between them in the test tube. Results show that the velocity vectors near the front baffle flow along the vertical wall, and then concentrate on the upper opening of the front baffle. The velocity profiles circulate in the front and rear baffle. These profiles are related to the Reynolds number (Re) or the flow intensity. Velocity profiles at lower Re number showed complicated mixing to obtain the velocities and concentrate on the lower opening of the rear baffle as front wall. Numerical simulations were performed to investigate the effects of the baffle and obtain the velocity profiles between the two baffles. In this study, a commercial CFD package, Fluent 6.3.21 with the turbulent flow modeling, k-${\epsilon}$ are adopted. The path line and local axial velocities are calculated between two baffles using this program.

가정용 온수보일러의 성능향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Performance Improvement of a Domestic Hot Water Boiler)

  • An experimental study was performed to improve a domestic hot water boiler with a coil type heat exchanger. By using Korean Standard B 8107, B 8021 and B 6205, the boiler efficiency for heating, bathing and combution are calculated. Finally, the efficiency of the boiler are compared with those of the commercial production. On the whole, the performance of the hot water generator is higher than that of the other generator.

친수성 표면 처리를 통한 공기 예열 열교환기의 응축 열전달 성능 연구 (A Study on Condensation Heat Transfer in Air Pre-heating Heat Exchanger using Hydrophilic Surface)

  • 콘덴싱 보일러에 이용되는 공기 예열 열교환기에서의 열전달을 향상시키기 위해 전열면에 플라즈마 표면처리가 응축열전달에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 연구 결과 표면처리를 한 친수성 평판이 원판보다 약 10%의 열전달 증진을 보여주었다. 원판과 친수처리 평판에서 측정한 응축 열전달 계수를 Shah 상관식과 비교해 본 결과 Shah 상관식이 원판에서 측정한 응축 열전달 계수를 10% 오차 범위로 잘 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 원판을 이용한 공기예열 열교환기를 설계할 때 Shah 상관식이 이용될 수 있음을 본 연구에서 알 수 있었다.

CFD 해석을 통한 Plain형 핀-튜브 열교환기의 열전달 및 압력강하 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of plain fin-tube heat exchanger using CFD analysis)

  • 핀-튜브 열교환기는 산업용 보일러, 라디에이터, 냉동기 등에 많이 사용되고 있어 열교환기의 성능향상을 위한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Plain형 핀-튜브 열교환기에 대해 가로피치, 와류발생기위치, 튜브표면의 돌기형상 및 돌기개수 등의 변화에 따른 열전달 및 압력강하 특성을 이론적으로 해석하였다. CFD 해석시 경계조건으로는 SST 난류모델을 적용하였으며, 튜브표면의 온도는 333 K이고, 입구측 공기의 온도와 속도는 423~438 K, 1.5~2.1 m/s로 가정하였다. 해석결과로는 열전달계수는 가로피치에 대한 영향은 큰 차이가 없으며, 열전달특성은 와류발생기 설치가 튜브 전방부에 위치할수록 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 튜브표면의 돌기형상은 열전달 및 압력강하 특성에서 원형이 톱니형과 삼각형보다 적절하였으며, 16개 원형 돌기형상이 가장 양호하였다.
