  • A multi body simulation (MBS) model is developed for predicting the impact harshness of the vehicle. Impact harshness is the vehicle performance to evaluate the impulsive vibration behavior during driving over an obstacle of the road. Thus, the approach is simulated on the time domain for considering the transient behavior of the vehicle. The validity of vehicle component modeling of bushes, dampers and structure flexibilities is verified. The simulations are compared with the test results in both of vertical and longitudinal directions. In particular, the vertical vibration of the vehicle is significantly affected by the body flexibility. Through the sensitivity analysis, main factors for the impact harshness performance are investigated.

  • A buried channel poly-Si TFT (BCTFT) for application of high performance integrated circuits has been proposed and fabricated. BCTFT has unique features, such as the moderately-doped buried channel and counter-doped body region for conductivity modulation, and the fourth terminal entitled back bias for preventing kink effect. The n-type and p-type BCTFT exhibits superior performance to conventional poly-Si TFT in ON-current and field effect mobility due to moderate doping at the buried channel. The OFF-state leakage current is not increased because the carrier drift is suppressed by the p-n junction depletion between the moderately-doped buried channel and the counter-doped body region.

  • Final aim of this paper is a study on simulation of automatic steering of a ship in random seas. In order to achieve this aim, we need excitation due to random seas. The excitation may be estimated from energy spectrum of irregular waves and response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. This paper deals with response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. We discussed New Strip Method(NSM) of sway-yaw-roll coupled motions in regular waves. NSM is defined in space axes system and that has been used to predict seakeeping performance of a ship in waves. But ship manoeuvring is defined in body fixed axes system. So we cannot use NSM theory itself in predicting manoeuvring performance of a ship in waves. We introduced relationship between space axes system and body fixed axes system. And we developed modified NSM which was defined in body fixed axes system and was able to be used in manoeuvring motion of a ship in waves. We calculated sway and yaw response functions of manoeuvring motion of a bulk carrier in regular waves.

  • In this paper we suggest an improvement upon the previous method of estimating a body's attitude. This paper presents a method that overcomes the shortcomings of previous studies. Applying the method of separating the acceleration of gravity component from the accelerometer's output improves the performance of the attitude estimation and extends the scope. In order to apply the method of the attitude estimation in an actively moving body, a new acceleration value containing the acceleration of gravity is calculated. This paper also proposes the method which minimizes the estimation error in estimating the moving body's attitude which is changing rapidly. Finally, this paper suggests a method that detects the gyroscope's drift and compensates for this drift using accelerometer. Applying the method improves the performance of the attitude estimation.

  • The use of wireless body area networks (WBANs) in healthcare applications has made it convenient to monitor both health personnel and patient status continuously in real time through wearable wireless sensor nodes. However, the heterogeneous and complex network structure of WBANs has some disadvantages in terms of control and management. The software-defined network (SDN) approach is a promising technology that defines a new design and management approach for network communications. In order to create more flexible and dynamic network structures in WBANs, this study uses the SDN approach. For this, a WBAN architecture based on the SDN approach with a new energy-aware routing algorithm for healthcare architecture is proposed. To develop a more flexible architecture, a controller that manages all HUBs is designed. The proposed architecture is modeled using the Riverbed Modeler software for performance analysis. The simulation results show that the SDN-based structure meets the service quality requirements and shows superior performance in terms of energy consumption, throughput, successful transmission rate, and delay parameters according to the traditional routing approach.

  • Methods of evaluating the physiological activity of the living body are EEG, EOG, Heart rate, and Rectal temperature, etc. In the study of Hagiwara and Araki(1993), they found positive correlations among performance test, physiological measurement, and subjective feeling measurement. Human alertness of pilot directly influences on the flight performance that accomplishes a lot of vigilance task and procedure execution in flight. Accordingly, this paper deals with the quantitative and objective performance test based on tracking error and reaction time by means of the new computer test program into which the perception-motion system of human beings is applies. Throughout this experiment using performance thst, the results suggest that performance capability in state of sleep deprivation 2 hours and alcoholic 0.05 .apaprox. 0.06% in blood were more impaired than one in a normal state, and they further showed statistically significant differences between them, which were influenced by impairment factors of body regulation and pilot's grade. We also obtained the prediction value and the 95% confidence interval of tracking error and reaction time at the normal state for the purpose of distinguishing performance capability between the normal state and the abnormal state. And it is ecpected that the evaluation of human alertness using performance test will be applied to the quantitative assessment of an each pilot's realistic consciousness/attention, and will lead a flight commander to the accurate decision of mission approval prior to a flight.

  • This paper describes the result of structure analysis of body structure. The purpose of the analysis is to evaluate an safety which body structure shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load and operating condition. Material of body structure applied an aluminum alloy. Body structure consist of side frame, under frame, roof frame, end frame. FEM analysis is based on 'Performance Test Standard for Electrical Multiple Unit, noticed by Ministry of Construction & Transportation, in 2000 ' and reference code is JIS E 7105. The analysis results have been very safety and stable for design load conditions.

  • Expressive face and human body gestures are among the main non-verbal communication channels in human-human interaction. Understanding human emotions through body gesture is one of the necessary skills both for humans and also for the computers to interact with their human counterparts. Gesture analysis is consisted of several processes such as detecting of hand, extracting feature, and recognizing emotions. Skin color information for tracking hand gesture is obtained from face detection region. We have revealed relationships between paricular body movements and specific emotions by using HMM(Hidden Markov Model) classifier. Performance evaluation of emotional human body recognition has experimented.

  • Large eddy simulation{LES) methodology used to model a bluff-body stabilized non-reacting flow. The LES solver was implemented on parallel computer consisting 16 processors. To verify the capability of LES code, the results was compared with that of Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) using $k-{\epsilon}$ model as well as experimental data. The results showed that the LES and RANS qualitatively well predicted the experimental results, such as mean axial, radial velocities and turbulent kinetic energy. However, in the quantitative analysis, the LES showed a better prediction performance than RANS. Specially, the LES well described characteristics of the recirculation zones, such as air stagnation point and jet stagnation point. Finally, the unsteady phenomena on the Bluff-body, such as the transition of recirculation region and vorticity, was examined with LES methodology.

  • In this paper, design of a UWB MIMO antenna for an on-body application is proposed and antenna performance with body effect and the impact on the human body are investigated. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of UWB antenna above ground plane and an additional plunger shaped isolator located between the two monopole antennas to enhance the isolation characteristic. The simulation and measurement are performed to analyze the effect of the human body on antenna performance when the human body is located in the near field of the antenna. According to the measurement results, the measured SAR values for antennas 1 and 2 are 0.132 W/kg and 0.08 W/kg, respectively when 0.5 mW input power is delivered. These values satisfy the FCC guideline which ragulates that the 1-g average SAR should be lower than 1.6 W/kg.
