The author have studied the relationship between the maximum puberal growth stage in body height and the appearance of the adductor sesamoid of the thumb with wrist x-ray films. In addition to this, it has been investigated the age at which pubic hair appeared in boys, and the age at menarche in girls. The results were as follows: 1) The ossification of the adductor sesamoid of the thumb occured at 13-years-o-month in boys and 10-years-8-months in girls. 2) There was a close association between the age at maximum puberal growth in body height and the age when ossification of the adductor sesamoid of the thumb occured, and also in girls, the age at the menarche. 3) Appearance of the adductor sesamoid of the thumb indicated that maximum puberal growth in body height is imminent or has been reached. 4) The maximum puberal growth in body height occured 23 months earlier in girls than in boys, and ossification of the adductor sesamoid of the thumb 28 months earlier in girls. 5) Appearance of the pubic hair in boys was of no value for prediction of maximum puberal growth in body height. 6) Menarche is a reliable indication that the maximum puberal growth in body height has been reached or passed.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different energy intake on physical and chemical composition in body fractions, growth performance and meat characteristics of finishing barrows and gilts. A total of twenty six crossbred (Landrace$\times$Yorkshire) consisting of 16 barrows and 13 gilts were used in this study. The animals were allocated by sex to two treatments to form a $2\times2$ factorial arrangement. The respective factors were sex (barrow and gilt) and dietary energy intake (1.8 and 3.0 times energy for maintenance). Pigs were kept in individual pens and had ad libitum access to feed and water from the start of the experiment at $52.4{\pm}1.9kg$ until they reached $109.9{\pm}4.4kg$ live weight. The growth performance, physical composition and meat characteristics of finishing pigs were not greatly affected by the sex. However, higher fat tissue weight in the carcass was observed in barrows compared with gilts (p<0.05). Higher proportions of water and protein (p<0.05), and lower lipid proportion (p<0.01) in the empty body and carcass were observed in gilts compared with barrows, while protein proportion in lean tissue was not affected by the sex. In fat tissue, only protein proportion was higher in gilts compared with barrows (p<0.05). Although, growth performance, physical and chemical compositions in body fractions were greatly affected, final body or carcass weight was partly affected by the energy intake In addition, loin characteristics such as shear force and loin eye area were partly influenced by energy intake levels. Therefore, the present results showed that growth performance and meat characteristics were not influenced but chemical body composition was greatly influenced by the sex. Growth performance, physical and chemical compositions in body fractions were greatly affected, whereas meat characteristics were partly affected by the energy intake levels.
The interrelationships between growth rates (and size) of the selected cranifacial dimensions and body dimensions (height and weight) were investigated in the longitudinal data of primary school children from 6 to 11 years of age. The data were obtained from serial cephalometric radiographs and health record which were taken at one year interval. Regression analyses were used to analyze the data. The main concludions might be summarized as follows; 1. Size relationships between body height (and weigh) and S-Gn, posterior facial height (s-Go), total mandibular length (Ar-Gn) showed high significant correlation, but no association between body height, weight and anterior cranial base length (S-N). 2. Correlation coefficients between facial dimensions and body height (and weight) were getting lower with age increase. 3. At all age groups, significant prediction equation for some facial dimensions with body height and weight were obtained. 4. In this sample, the growth rates of facial dimensions and body height and weight showed almostly constant during this age period and the growth rate of body height and weight of girls was exceeded that of boys. 5. A relatively high degree of variation between individuals existed in the sample. 6. A positive correlation was found for the relationship between the growth rates of facial dimensions and those of body height (and weight) in boys and girls, but was not found in total samples.

This study was conducted to estimate the growth curve parameters for the body weight (BW) and body length (BL) of miniature pigs in Korea. Growth curve parameters were estimated through a nonlinear regression model using Gompertz, Logistic, and von Bertalanffy methods. A total of 25 piglets were measured monthly from birth up to 15 months of age to estimate both body weight and length. Results showed that the estimated average values for the body weight (body length) were 31.83 kg (58.77 cm) for the mature weight (A), 3.06 (1.74) for the growth ratio (${\beta}$), and 0.28 (0.52) for the maturing rate (${\kappa}$). Average inflection points showing maximum growth rate estimated each month for body weight were 3.97 kg and 11.70 cm, while for the body length were 1.06 kg and 21.61 cm. Moreover, the estimated maturation rates of the body weight and length for the group of Sire 1 were 0.22 and 0.40 respectively, whereas for the group of Sire 2 these values were 0.34 and 0.39. On the other hand, for the groups of Dam 1, Dam 2, and Dam 3, maturation rates for their body weights were 0.26, 0.28 and 0.33 respectively, while for their body lengths these values were 0.43, 0.37, and 0.38, respectively. The study also indicated a negative relationship between the values of mature weight and maturity rate for the body weight will result to a higher inflection point which is in contrast for the body length where results show that a positive relationship between the values of mature length and the maturity rate will result to a higher inflection point. Furthermore, the growth performance of miniature pig varies across stages but using these estimated growth curve parameters could improve the genetic traits of miniature pig.
Fast somatic growth is important considerations for successful and competitive aquaculture industry. In rainbow trout reared in South Korea, triploid induction was used to suppress negative influence of reproductive maturation to body growth. However, the effects of triploidy are visible in both mature fish and developing juvenile fish. Thus, it is also important to explicate the effect of triploid induction on growth during the early-life stages of rainbow trout-alevins and fry. Rainbow trout fertilized eggs were subjected to triploid induction and polyploidy was checked by flow cytometry. Diploid and triploid alevins and fry were reared separately in tanks with constant flow of freshwater through flow-through water system and growth measurements were done from zero days after hatching (DAH 0) until DAH 134. The egg-yolk morphometrics of alevins-yolk length, yolk height, yolk volume and yolk weight-were statistically similar (p > 0.05) in both genotypes from DAH 0 to DAH 22. The total length, body height, and body weight of alevins and fry were statistically better (p > 0.05) in both genotypes until DAH 92 but thereafter, triploid had a significantly better growth performance (p < 0.05) over diploid fish until the completion of study at DAH 134. With that, triploid induction did not influence alevin yolk regions and body growth and fry somatic growth until around 3 months after hatching, but considerable growth enhancement was subsequently apparent.
The purposes of this study were to identify 1) the effect of physical growth on body criticism from others and body image,2) the effect of body criticism from others on sociocultural attitude toward appearance, body image, and self-esteem, 3)the effect of sociocultural attitude toward appearance on body image, 4)the effect of body image on self=esteem and clothing attitude, and 5) the effect of self-esteem on clothing altitude on Korean female teenagers. The data were collected from 436 high school girls living in Seoul, Korea, via self-administered questionnaires, and were analyzed by factor analysis and LISREL models. The result of this study were as follows: 1) Among three measurement variables of physical growth, the height had a negative effect on body criticism from others. Sexual maturation positively influenced the affective aspect of body image. 2) Body criticism from others had a positive effect on the sociocultural attitude toward appearance and a negative effect on the affective aspect of body image. 3) The sociocultural altitude toward appearance had a negative effect on the affective aspect of body image and a positive effect on the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image.4) The affective aspect of body image had a positive effect on the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image, self-esteem, and clothing attitude. However, the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image had a positive effect on clothing attitude.5) Self-esteem had no significant effect on clothing attitude.
Records of weight, age, body condition at calving and udder characteristics scores of 425 beef cows and birth weights and periodical weights of their offspring from birth to weaning were analyzed to study the effect of body weight, condition and udder characteristic scores of dams on birth weight and Preweaning growth of their offspring. Dam's body condition (fat reserve) at calving were scored on a scale of 1 to 5 (1=extremely thin and 5=extremely fat) and dam's udder characteristics were scored on a scale of 1 to 7 (l=udder well attached with small teats and 7=at least one quarters not functional). Dams were from three distinct breed groups and were mated in single sire mating groups within each breed group for 45 days. Within each breed group and year, the dams were classified into high, medium and low based on their weights at the time of parturition. The data were analysed using covariance analysis. In general, calves born to heavier dams were heavier at birth and had higher rate of Preweaning growth. The effect of dam's body condition score on the calf birth weight was not significant. However, cows with average body condition score of 2.5 or 3.0 gave birth to calves that had higher pre weaning growth rates up to weaning than those born to calves with higher body condition score. The udder characteristics score did not affect calf birth weight as expected; however, cows with udder score of 3 (udder well attached with large teats) produced calves with higher preweaning growth rate than those with smaller teats. Based on the results, it can be concluded that maintaining animals with average body condition and weight would result in more efficient calf production. In addition, cows with well attached udder and large teats would provide a better maternal environment for Preweaning growth rates of their calves.
For the analysis of the relative grouch of six body pans, such as carapace width. abdominal length, abdominal width, cheliped length, second pereiopod length and third pereiopod length, to the carapace length of crayfish (Comboroides similis Koelbel), the equation Y = bXa were applied. The results were as follows: 1. In the relative srourth of each body part to the carapace length, abdominal width and abdomial length in both sexes showed as positive allometrv, the third pereiopod length in both sexes as isometry and the rest shouted as negative. The least coefficient of the relative growth was found in cheliped length in female (0.9300).2. The grolwth gradient of each body part to the carapace length in each sex revealed decreasing pattern in abdominal length and third pereiopod length in both sexes and the abdominal width in male with the growth centers on the initial growth period. and the rest showed increasing pattern with the growth centers on the 6th growvth period except the abdomini,d uridth in female on the 3rd growth period.
The present study was conducted to detect polymorphism at growth hormone gene in Karan Fries bulls. A 428 bp fragment of growth hormone gene spanning over $4^{th}$exon, $4^{th}$intron and $5^{th}$ exon was amplified and digested with AluI restriction enzyme to identify polymorphism at this locus. Karan Fries bulls were found to be polymorphic at this locus. Two genotypes LL and LV were identified in Karan Fries with higher allelic frequency for L allele. In Karan Fries males, the average birth weight, 3 months body weight and daily body weight gains of LL homozygotes were significantly higher than that of LV heterozygotes. Genetic distances of KF bulls with respect to genotype along with 3 months body weight and average daily body weight gain forms a single cluster of bulls with LL genotype, while individuals with LV genotype forms three distinct clusters indicating more influence of L allele on growth traits.
Mahseer (Tor soro) growth performance tends to be slow, necessitating further development and intensification of cultivation. One way to develop aquaculture intensification is to manipulate cultivation containers to create optimal environmental conditions for the mahseer to grow. This study aimed to examine the body performance and growth performance of mahseer reared in different colored containers. Experimental research with completely randomized design was employed, with four colored container treatments namely treatment A (transparent), B (green), C (blue), and D (black), with four replications in each treatment. Findings indicate that different rearing media colors had significant effect on absolute length (4.68 ± 0.24 cm), absolute weight (1.58 ± 0.35 g), specific growth rate (2.17 ± 0.38%), feed conversion ratio (2.87 ± 0.04), survival rate (100 ± 0.00%), gross energy (3,816 ± 65.05 cal/g), and body proximate. Physiologically, mahseer fish bred using blue and black containers tend to be more resistant to stress. The best body performance and growth performance were observed in the blue and black colored containers.
