소비음을 이용한 경피침주요법이 복부비만에 미치는 영향에 대한 임상연구 (The Effects of Sobi-eum(Xiaofei-yin) Mesotherapy on Abdominal Fat Distribution)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to figure out the effects of herbal mesotherapy on abdominal fat in obese women. Methods : Forty obese women those who were diagnosed abdominal obesity had been recruited during February, 2008. They were randomly assigned experimental or control group under block-randomization. Experimental group were treated with Sobi-eum(Xiaofei-yin) injection during 6 weeks (2 times a week) and placebo group were treated with normal saline injection under same procedures. Anthropometry, body impedance analysis, fat computed tomography, blood test, and questionnaires had been administered before and after the treatment. Results : Four subjects were dropped out (voluntary give up), so 18 in experimental group and 18 in placebo group were evaluated. There were significant changes after treatments in both groups. Although no significant differences have been found in the result of anthropometry, body impedance analysis and fat computed tomography between two groups, in the experimental group, the changes of total fat area had a highly significant relationship with all part of abdominal fat. While the placebo group had highly significant relationships with subcutaneous fat area, superficial and deep subcutaneous fat area but not with visceral fat area. Conclusions : Compaired with saline group, herbal mesotheraphy Sobi-eum(Xiaofei-yin) is effective in reduction of visceral fat after adjusting TFA.

고지방식이를 섭취한 흰쥐에서 고추장의 체중 및 지방조직과 혈청내의 지질감소효과 (Decreasing Effect of Kochujang on Body Weight and Lipid Levels of Adipose Tissues and Serum in Rats Fed a High-Fat Diet)

  • 고추장은 체중감소 효과를 보였는데 흰쥐를 이용한 식이섭취 실험에서 발효 숙성된 전통고추장이나 공장식 상품고추장은 고지방 식이로 인한 체중 증가를 감소시켜 정상에 가까운 체중을 유지하도록 하였다. 반면에 발효되지 않은 고추장의 경우 고춧가루군과 거의 비슷한 감소효과를 나타내었으며 발효된 전통고추장이나 공장식 상품고추장에 비해서 체중감소효과가 그리 크지 않았다. 발효된 전통고추장은 높은 체중 감소효과와 더불어 부고환 지방 및 신장 주위 지방조직의 총지방, TG, 콜레스테롤의 함량도 낮추는 효과를 나타내었으나 발효되지 않은 고추장식이군은 감소효과가 크지 않아 발효의 유무가 체중감소, 지방조직감소에 큰 변수임을 알 수 있었다.

LDL Receptor Knockout Mouse에서 부추추출물의 죽상경화증 예방 효과 (Prevention effect of Allium tuberosum extract on ateriosclerosis in LDL Receptor Knockout Mouse)

  • Objectives : The present study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of Allium tuberosum (AT) extract on atherosclerosis in LDL receptor knockout (LDLr KO) mouse fed western diet.Methods : The AT was extracted 70% ethanol. The experimental groups were divided with four groups of LDLr KO mice, one group fed a normal diet and the others fed a Western diets for 8weeks. Two Western diet groups were orally administered AT extract at dosage of 100 and 300 mg/kg body weight. The body weight and food intake were measured every day. We measured levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and Glucose in serum. Also, effect of AT extract performed using H&E staining.Results : The AT treatment groups showed decrease in body weight and food efficiency in comparison with control group. Blood biochemistry parameters such as TG, TC, LDL, and glucose levels were increased in control group, while AT treatment groups were reduced. Also, the increased levels of ALT and AST were improved by AT extract. We confirmed that the weights of liver, kidney, subcutaneous fat, epididymal fat, kidney leaf fat, and intraabdominal fat were change in LDLr KO mice treated AT extract. In addition, histopathological changes in liver and aorta were similar to normal group.Conclusions : Based on these results, the AT extract is considered to make prevention of atherosclerosis through reduction and functional improvement of the liver and vascular endothelial cells in the body fat accumulation and lipid content in LDLr ko mouse model.

비만 초등학생의 토요 영양 교실의 운영 효과 평가 (Evaluation of Saturday Nutrition Classes for Obese Elementary Students in Chungnam Province)

  • This study was designed to evaluate Saturday nutrition classes for obese elementary students in Chungnam Province. Obesity index, nutrient intake, nutrition knowledge, nutrition attitude, and self-satisfaction of 36 obese elementary students were compared before and after attending nutrition classes every other Saturday for 3 months. The average age, height, weight, body fat, % body fat, and obesity index were 11.9 years, 145.5 cm, 53.3 kg, 24.5 kg, 45.7%, and 32.4%, respectively. Most of the subjects(94.5%) viewed themselves as fat. Sixty-three percent of children were discontent with their body-image. All answered that they have experience with weight control. The major methods of weight control were exercise and reduction of snacks. The mean serum cholesterol, blood glucose, GOT/GPT, and hemoglobin were 177.4 mg/dL, 90.4 mg/dL, 25.8/25.5 IU/L, 14.5 g/dL, respectively. After attending nutrition classes, the daily intakes of energy, plant protein, plant fat, carbohydrate, crude fiber, and cholesterol increased significantly. The scores for nutrition knowledge, nutrition attitude, and self-satisfaction also increased after nutrition classes, but there were no significant differences. Percent body fat decreased significantly after nutrition classes. In conclusion, nutrition education for elementary students is effective for the prevention and control of obesity. Further research is needed to develop a systematic program of nutrition education for obese children.

복부부위에 대한 기계적 마사지 처치가 중년여성의 체성분, 허리둘레 및 복부지방면적 감소에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Mechanical Massage on Body Composition, Waist Circumference and Abdominal Fat Area in Middle-aged Obese Women)

  • 본 연구는 중년여성들의 복부지방 과다 축적에 의해 발생하는 건강상의 문제들을 해결하는데 도움을 주고자 복부부위에 대한 기계적인 마사지 처치가 체성분, 허리둘레 및 복부지방면적의 감소에 미치는 효과를 규명하고자 하였다. WHR 0.85 이상의 복부비만 중년여성 10명을 대상으로 1회 20~30분씩 1일 2회, 주 5일, 4주간 총 40회의 기계적 마사지 처치를 시행하였으며, 처치 전·후 각 변인의 변화를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 체중, 체지방율, 허리둘레, 내장지방 면적, 복부 피하지방 면적, 복부 총지방 면적 등 모든 측정항목에서 유의한 감소가 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 고려할 때 복부부위에 대한 기계적 마사지 처치는 복부비만 중년여성들의 복부지방 감소에 도움을 주는 효율적인 방법이며, 나아가 복부지방으로 인해 야기되는 다양한 심혈관계 질환 및 대사성 질환의 예방과 치료에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

비만환자에 대한 방풍통성산의 치료효과 (Effects of Fangfengtongsheng-san on obese patients)

  • Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Fangfengtongsheng-san on obese patients. Materials and Methods : 20 patients that take Fangfengtongsheng-san during 3weeks at obesitic clinic, Conmaul Oriental Hospital from June 2000 to October 2000 were selected for this study. Results : In the change of body composition, the reduction of weight was $2.46{\pm}1.31\;kg$, the reduction of percent body fat was $1.34{\pm}0.84%$, the reduction of 8MI was $0.96{\pm}0.17$. Conclusion: This study shows that Fangfengtongsheng-san is effective on weight reduction.

복부비만 치료 후 피하 및 내장지방의 변화 (Changes in of Abdominal Subcutaneous and Visceral Fatfollowingafter Abdominal Obesity Treatment)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to assess the effect onf abdominal obesity treatment on changes in abdominal subcutaneous and visceral fat. Methods : The study was conducted on 61 abdominally obese patients (13 men and 48 women). Measures of body weight, waist circumference, abdominal subcutaneous and visceral fat area by CT scan, and V/S ratio (Viscero-subcutaneous fat ratio) were acquired before and after Kirindiet therapy. Paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed rank tests were used to est the effects of teatment. Results : Following a mean of 68 days of treatment, waist circumference (-15%), abdominal total fat (-40%), subcutaneous fat (-37.9%), visceral fat (-47.8%) and V/S ratio (-11.1%) were significantly reduced (p<0.05). The change in V/S ratio in female patients was not statistically significant (p=0.491) whereas the change in the V/S ratio in male patients was significant indicating a greater loss of visceral fat (p=0.017). Please check that my changes reflect what the study found Conclusions : The reduction in visceral fat was greater than for subcutaneous fat in male patients but not for female patients.

가르시니아캄보지아 추출물 (HCA)과 L-Carnitine의 섭취 및 운동이 흰쥐의 체중에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Feeding Garcinia Cambogia Extract (HCA) and/or L-Carnitine and Exorcise on Body Weight in Rats)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effect of feeding garcinia cambogia extract (HCA) and/or L-carnitine and exercise (swimming) on body weight in rats. Forty-eight male rats (Charles River CD (SD) IGS) of eight weeks old and weighing $323.5\pm2.4g$ were raised for two months with high fat diet ($40\%$ fat as calorie) to induce obesity. After induction of obesity, rats weighing $552.8\pm5.8g$ were blocked into eight groups according to body weight and raised for six weeks with diet containing HCA and/or L-carnitine. Plasma aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, total protein and albumin levels were in normal ranges. Food and calorie intakes of H + C and H + C/H groups were highest among non-exercise (m) groups and exercise (I) groups. Food and calorie intakes of m groups were higher than those of I groups. E groups showed significantly lower body weight gain and calorie efficiency ratio than m groups and H/E group was the lowest among all groups. Perirenal fat pad weights of E groups were lower than m groups, and epididymal fat pad weights of H and H + C groups were lower than CO and C groups among m groups regardless of exercise treatment. Brown adipose tissue weights of I groups were higher than fn groups and highest in H/E group among all groups. Liver citrate lyase activities of H and C groups were lower than CO and H + C groups regardless of exercise treatment. The differences between NE groups and E groups were not found to be significantly. Liver carnitine acyltranferase activity was not significantly different among all groups. Fecal total lipid, triglyceride and total cholesterol excretions were found to be higher in H and H + C uoups compared to CO and C groups both in NE and E animals, those of lipid excretions of NE groups were higher than E groups. In conclusion, HCA was more effective in reduction of body weight and body fat than L-carnitine or HCA + L-carnitine. HCA ingestion with exercise was far more effective than without exercise treatment in reducing body weight and body fat.

미강(米糠)과 야채첨가식이(野菜添加食餌)가 흰쥐의 체내대사(體內代謝)에 미치는 영향(影響)( II ) -열량소의 소화흡수율에 미치는 영향을 중심으로- (The Metabolic Effects of Rice Bran and Vegetable Cellulose Supplemented Diets on Albino Rats -Especially on Apparent Digestibility of Intake Nutrients-)

  • The effects of dietary cellulose to utilize the intake nutrients in the albino rats were investigated by the two consecutive experiments in this study. The author wanted to observe the effects of the age of animals and different level of dietary cellulose, high and low in the first experiment and the effects of dietary cellulose from three different sources, rice bran, vegetable and pure-cellulose at high level in the second experiment. The results were summarized as follows. (1) The obvious effect of dietary cellulose caused to increase feces weight. Consequently apparent digestibilities of intake nutrients in the diet decreased. It was noteworthy that fecal glucose excretion was significantly affected by cellulose intake. Since three nutrients, protein, fat and carbohydrate serve as energy sources in the body, this result can be interpreted to be lowered in the efficiency of energy utilization out of intake from the diet. (2) The nutrients loss due to dietary cellulose resulted in reduction of skeletal muscle and bone weights which lead eventually to affect in reduction of body weight. (3) The effects of dietary cellulose showed differently according to the amount of cellulose ingested, dietary nutrients composition, the kinds of dietary cellulose supplemented and the age of experimental animals. When the intake diet was proportionately imbalanced in three different energy sources, carbohydrate, fat and protein, the cellulose intake was adversely affected in the utilization of the nutrients in the body. Cellulose from rice bran decreased body weight gain, cellulose from vegetable maintained medium level in body weight and pure-cellulose increased body weight. Growing rats showed more sensitive effects of cellulose tolerance in the body than grown rats in every concerns of this experiment.

비만여대생을 대상으로 고추발효추출물의 체중감량 효과에 대한 연구 (Weight Reduction Effect of Extract of Fermented Red Pepper on Female College Students)

  • 고추발효 추출물의 체중감량효과를 알아보기 위하여 여대생을 대상으로 인터넷으로 체중감량을 하는(ID) 그룹과 인터넷과 고추발효 추출물을 섭취하는(IR) 그룹으로 나누어 8주 동안 체중감량 프로그램을 실시하여 체중감량 프로그램 전후와 두 그룹간의 체중, 체지방, 제지방, 기초대사량, 엉덩이, 허리 둘레, 피하지방 두께, 혈당, 혈중 지질의 변화를 관찰하였다. 체중감량 프로그램 전 두 그룹간의 나이, 신장, 체중, 체지방과 제지방 등은 차이가 없었으며, 평소 식이 섭취량도 1944.7$\pm$34.4 kcal와 1864.0$\pm$124.6 kcal로 차이가 없었으며, 체중감량 프로그램 동안 ID그룹의 열량 섭취는 1279.9$\pm$112.0kcal, IR 그룹은 1223.8$\pm$57.1kcal이었다. 8주간의 체중감량 프로그램이 끝낸 후 ID 그룹은 체중, 체지방량, 제지방량, 기초대사량과 BMI가 유의적으로 감소한 반면 IR 그룹은 체중, 체지방율, 체지방량, 제지방량과 BMI가 유의적으로 감소하였다. 두 그룹간의 비교에서 체지방율, 체지방량과 기초대사량이 유의적인 차이를 나타내었는데, 고추발효 추출물의 섭취가 체중에는 영향을 못 미쳤으나, 체지방의 감소를 유발하였으며, 기초대사율의 감소를 방지한 것으로 나타났다. 체중 감량 프로그램동안 ID 그룹의 엉덩이, 허리둘레, WHR은 유의적으로 감소한 반면 IR 그룹은 유의적인 변화를 관찰할 수 없었다. 피하지방두께의 변화에서는 IR 그룹의 복부지방 두께를 제외하고는 유의적으로 감소하지 않았다. 두 그룹간의 비교에서 IR그룹의 복부지방에서 유의적인 변화를 관찰할 수 있어 고추발효 추출물이 주로 복부의 체지방을 감소시킨 것으로 나타났다. 혈액의 변화는 ID그룹의 HDL-콜레스테롤을 제외하고는 유의적인 변화를 관찰할 수 없었는데, 그 이유는 체중감량 프로그램 동안 저지방식이를 권장하였고, 실험시작 전 실험대상자의 초기 혈당 및 혈중 지질 농도가 정상 범위이었기 때문에 혈당이나 혈중지질 변화를 관찰할 수 없었던 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 체중감량 프로그램에서 고추발효 추출물의 섭취가 체중, 혈당, 혈중 지질의 농도에는 영향을 미치지 못했으나, 체지방 특히 복부지방을 감소시켰으며, 체중감량 시 발생하는 기초대사량의 감소를 방지한 것으로 판단되어진다.
