  • Polymer Light Emitting Diodes (PLEDs) with an ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al structure were prepared on plasma-treated ITO/glass substrates using spin-coating and thermal evaporation methods. The annealing effects of the PFO-poss film when it acts as the emission layer were investigated by using electrical and optical property measurements. The annealing conditions of the PFO-poss emission film were 100 and $200^{\circ}C$ for 1, 2 and 3 hours, respectively. The luminance increased and the turn-on voltage decreased when the annealing temperature and treatment time increased. After examining the Luminance-Voltage (L-V) properties of the PLED, the maximum luminance was found to be 1497 cd/$m^2$ at 11 V for the device when it was annealed at $200^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. The peak intensity of the PLED emission spectra at approximately 525 nm in wavelength increased when the annealing temperature and time of the PFO-poss film increased. These results suggest that the light emission color shifted from blue to green.

  • The parallel multi-quantum well structures of blue and amber lights were designed and grown in metal-organic chemical vapor deposition by utilizing integration process on epitaxial layers. Samples were deposited for 5 periods-InGaN multi-quantum well layers for blue light emission and partially etched in order to regrow the 3 periods-InGaN multi-quantum wells for amber light. The blue and amber photoluminescence spectra were observed at the peak wavelengths of 475 and 580 nm, respectively. The chromatic coordinates of the white emitting diode were 0.31 and 0.34.

  • We have fabricated blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) on a plastic substrate. The solution coated poly (9-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) host doped with Bis (3,5-difluoro-2-(2-pyridyl)phenyl_(2-carboxypyridyl)irdium(III) (FIrPic) guest molecules was used as an hole transporting emission layer. The device structure was ITO/PVK:FIrpic (50 nm, xwt%)/TAZ 50 nm)/LiF (0.5 nm)/Al (100 nm). The concentration of FIrpic molecule was varied from 1 wt% to 10 wt%. The OLED on plastic substrate exhibited maximum current efficiency of 18 cd/A with 5 wt% FIrpic molecules were doped into the PVK layer.

  • For the fabrication of blue color organic light emitting diodes(OLED) with a high performance, 2-TNATA [4,4',4"-tris (2-naphthylphenyl-phenylamino)-triphenylamine] as hole injection material and NPB [N,N'-bis (1-naphthyl) -N,N'-diphenyl-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine] as hole transport material were deposited on the ITO (indium tin oxide)/glass substrate by the vacuum thermal evaporation. After then, blue color emission layer was deposited using TPM-BiP[(4'-Benzoylferphenyl-4-yl)phenyl-methanone-Diethyl(biphenyl-4-ymethyl)phosphonate] and GDI602 as a light emitting organic material. Finally, the two kinds of OLEDs with the structure of $ITO/2-TNATA/NPB/TPM-BiP/Alq_3/LiF/Al and ITO/2-TNATA/NPB/GDI602/Alq_3/LiF/Al$ were prepared by in-situ deposition. The maximum current density and luminance were found to be about $588\;mA/cm^2\;and\;5239\;cd/m^2$ at 12V for the OLED sample with the structure of $ITO/2-TNATA/NPB/TPM-BiP/Alq_3/LiF/Al$. Color coordinate of blue OLED was x=0.18, y=0.18 (at llV) and the maximum current efficiency was 2.82 cd/A (at 6V) with the peak emission wavelength of 440 nm.

  • We have fabricated white organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using several thicknesses of electron-transport layer. The multi-emission layer structure doped with red and blue phosphorescent guest emitters was used for achieving white emission. 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BCP) was used as an electron-transport layer. The thickness of BCP layer was varied to be 20, 55, and 120 nm. The current efficiency, emission and recombination characteristics of multi-layer white OLEDs were investigated. The BCP layer thickness variation results in the shift of emission spectrum due to the recombination zone shift. As the BCP layer thickness increases, the recombination zone shifts toward the electron-transport layer/emission-layer interface. The white OLED with a 55 nm thick BCP layer exhibited a maximum current efficiency of 40.9 cd/A.

  • This report is study about difference of H-D curve in regular film and ortho type film, and obtained results as follows : 1. In the blue-color emission intensifying screen, ortho type films and in the green-color emission intensifying screens, regular type are decreased in their gradient. 2. When joint use of regular type film and ortho type film, the gradient difference not seen in blue color screen. 3. The gradient difference seen clearly in G4, KM screens(green color emission intensifying). Especially, in part of high film density, the gradient difference are great. So we have to right use of screen and film because not matched used of theare the sensitivity and gradient are decrease.

  • We designed and synthesized DFPCE blue emitting materials by Mc Murry coupling reaction in order to improve the device efficiency and stability. The structure was confirmed by $^1H$-NMR. The physical properties were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, UV-vis, photoluminescence spectrum and cyclic voltammetry. The decomposition temperature of the material, which correspond to a 5% weight loss upon heating, is $513.58^{\circ}C$. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of DFPCE exhibited blue emission at 425 nm in chloroform solution and 462 nm in film.

  • The novel blue light emitting material, 9,10-bis(3',5'-diphenylphenyl)anthracene (BDA) was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction and characterized by the measurements of 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FT-IR. The new anthracene derivative, which contains anthracene as a main core unit and 3',5'-diphenylphenyl group derivative as wings, has high fluorescence yield, good thermal stability, and high glass transition temperature at 188 oC. With the newly non-doped blue emitting material in the multilayer device structure, it was possible to achieve the current efficiency of 3.0 cd/A. The EL spectrum of the ITO/CuPc/α-NPD/BDA/Alq3/LiF/Al device showed a maximum wavelength (λmax) at 440 nm. The emitting color of device showed the blue emission (x,y) = (0.18,0.19) at 10 mA/cm2 in CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) chromaticity coordinates.

  • Various colors of light emitting diodes(LED) and four-band white light sources are obtained using a violet LED and various phosphor films. $BaMg_2Al_{16}O_{27}:Eu\;(blue),\;SrGa_2S_4:Eu\;(green),\;and\;Eu(TTA)_3(PTA)$ (red) phosphors are dispersed in poly-vinyl-alcohol aqueous solutions, and phosphor films are prepared by coating the suspensions to PET film. The narrow band emission of $Eu(TTA)_3(PTA)$ phosphor has excellent red luminescent property for four-band white light excited by the violet LED.
