We fabricated phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices with a 1,1-bis[(di-4-tolylamino)phenyl]cyclohexane (TAPC) host layer. Two kinds of devices, one of ITO/TAPC/TAPC:FIrpic/TAZ/LiF/Al (device A) and one of ITO/TAPC:FIrpic/TAPC/TAZ/LiF/Al (device B), were prepared to investigate electrical and optical properties. Iridium(III) bis[(4,6-difluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N,$C^{2'}$]picolinate (FIrpic) and 3-(4-biphenylyl)-4-phenyl-5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole (TAZ) were used as a blue phosphorescent guest material and an electron transport layer, respectively. The TAPC layer in device B strongly contributes to whitish emission, higher driving voltage, and lower current efficiency characteristics compared with device A. The mechanisms of these electrical and optical characteristics of the devices were investigated.
In the present experiment, the blue-green algae, the principal food of the vector snail of Fasciola hepatica were cultured. Mud from good natural habitats was sterilized, made slopes, inoculated with algae from the habitats and maintained in a saturated atmosphere. Under the fluorescent-mercury lamp(100W) at about $20^{\circ}C$ the algal growth was optimal, taking 8 days to fully grow and to be ready for feeding the snails. The algae collected from the habitats and cultured in the laboratory were mainly green.

We report improved efficiency in blue electrophosphorescent organic light emitting diodes by introducing an interfacial exciton blocking layer between light emitting layer (EML) and hole transport layer (HTL). Iridium(III) bis [(4,6-di-fluorophenyl)- pyridinato -N,C2']picolinate (FIrpic) was used as blue phosphorescent dopant and JHK6-3 with carbazole and electron transporting group as host and also as the interfacial layer, resulting in drastic increase in quantum efficiency.
In this paper, we study effect of charge balance on performance of blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). Charge balance determines the location of recombination zone in the OLEDs. By tuning the charge balance in iridium (III) bis[(4,6-difluorophenyl)-pyridinate-N,C2']picolinate (FIrpic) based blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (PHOLEDs) with a high mobility and high triplet energy electron transporting material, we were able to achieve a high current efficiency of 60 cd/A which is a 3X improvement over previous devices with 3,5'-N,N'-dicarbazole-benzene (mCP) host.

We have fabricated simple triple-layer blue-emitting phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) using different thicknesses of N,N'-dicarbazolyl-3,5-benzene (mCP) host layers doped with bis[(4,6-di-fluorophenyl)-pyridinate-N,$C^{2'}$]picolmate (FIrpic) guest materials. The thicknesses of mCP:FIrpic layers were 5, 10, and 30 nm. Driving voltage, current and power efficiencies were investigated. The current efficiency was higher in the 10 nm thick mCP:FIrpic device, resulting from the better electron-hole balance. The device with 10 nm mCP:FIrpic layer exhibited the maximum current efficiency of 22.5 cd/A and power efficiency of 7.4 lm/W at a luminance of 1000 cd/$m^2$.

We have fabricated phosphorescent white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) with a spin-coated poly(Nvinylcarbazole) [PVK] host layer. Iridium(III) bis[(4,6-difluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N,$C^{2'}$]picolinate (FIrpic), tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(III) [$Ir(ppy)_3$], and tris(2-phenyl-1-quinoline)iridium(III) [$Ir(phq)_3$], were used as the blue, green, and red guest materials, respectively. The PVK was mixed with FIrpic, $Ir(ppy)_3$, and $Ir(phq)_3$ molecules in a chlorobenzene solution and spin-coated in order to prepare the emission layer; 3-(4-biphenylyl)-4-phenyl-5-(4-tertbutylphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole (TAZ) was used as an electron transport material. The resultant device structure was ITO/PVK:FIrpic:$Ir(ppy)_3:Ir(phq)_3$/TAZ/LiF/Al. The electroluminescence, efficiency, and electrical conduction characteristics of the WOLEDs based on the doped PVK host layer were investigated. The maximum current efficiency of the three wavelength WOLED with the doped PVK host was 19.2 cd/A.

Toxoplasma gondii infection induces alteration of the host cell cycle and cell proliferation. These changes are not only seen in directly invaded host cells but also in neighboring cells. We tried to identify whether this alteration can be mediated by exosomes secreted by T. gondii-infected host cells. L6 cells, a rat myoblast cell line, and RH strain of T. gondii were selected for this study. L6 cells were infected with or without T. gondii to isolate exosomes. The cellular growth patterns were identified by cell counting with trypan blue under confocal microscopy, and cell cycle changes were investigated by flow cytometry. L6 cells infected with T. gondii showed decreased proliferation compared to uninfected L6 cells and revealed a tendency to stay at S or G2/M cell phase. The treatment of exosomes isolated from T. gondii-infected cells showed attenuation of cell proliferation and slight enhancement of S phase in L6 cells. The cell cycle alteration was not as obvious as reduction of the cell proliferation by the exosome treatment. These changes were transient and disappeared at 48 hr after the exosome treatment. Microarray analysis and web-based tools indicated that various exosomal miRNAs were crucial for the regulation of target genes related to cell proliferation. Collectively, our study demonstrated that the exosomes originating from T. gondii could change the host cell proliferation and alter the host cell cycle.
For the blue sapphires from Santung, China, the color change before and after has been investigated by UV-Visible spectrophotometry method. The blue sapphires from Shantung show four groups of absorption bands: the bands A (374, 386 and 450 nm) being attributed to single $Fe^{3+}$ ion, the band B (560, 579 and $704n{\breve{m}}$) to $Fe^{2+}$/$Ti^{4+}$ pairs, the band C (-800 nm) to $Fe^{2+}$/$Fe^{3+}$ pairs, and the D (528 nm) to $Ti^{3+}$ dd transitions. From those UV-VIS characteristics the origin of blue color of the sapphires is confirmed to be attributed by the factors such as $Fe^{2+}$/$Fe^{3+}$ and $Ti^{3+}$/$Ti^{4+}$. The absorption spectra of natural blue sapphires before and after heat treatment show distintive features, comparing with those of sapphires from other localities: the bands of 689 nm and of $Cr^{3+}$ are not recorded on the spectra of sapphires from Shantung. The band (492 nm), which resulted from $Ti^{3+}$, is not shown and the intensity of the band 528 nm decreases after the heat treatment. Decoloration of ink-blue sapphires are found to be successful by heat treatment with the control of annealing and atmosphere. During the diffusion process the excess components of impurities contained originally in the host crystal were expelled to the surface of crystals, enhancing the transparency of the crystals noticeably.
$Ir(pmb)_{3}$(Iridium(III)Tri(1-phenyl-3-methylbenzimidazolin-2-ylidene-$C,C^{2'}$ ) was synthesized to develop a deep blue-emitting Ir(III) complex. We suggested the ultrasonic reactor to enhance the poor reaction yield of $Ir(pmb)_{3}$. The ultrasonic wave enhanced the reaction yield of $Ir(pmb)_{3}$ because the ultrasound helped non-soluble reactants disperse efficiently and produced free radial during the reaction. The maximum yield of $Ir(pmb)_{3}$ was 42.5%, which was 4 times higher than conventional method. Organic light emitting devices were fabricated with the synthesized mer-$Ir(pmb)_{3}$ which emitted at 405 nm. A range of host materials with large bandgaps (UGH2, mCP and CBP) were tested for developing a deep blue emitting device. In case of the device with mCP as the host material, it emitted deep blue and performed quite well relative to the other host materials tested.
