  • Recently, the seriousness of high blood pressure was appeared as the most frequent disease of a the whole sickness in the world. However, the treatment of this disease is uncertain and produces an adverse reaction of a medicine therapy. Also, the patients are burdened with a fee for medical treatment. Therefore, in this paper, we studied effectively and financially to execute the treatment of high blood pressure using the Chinese medicine theorem that is recently arousing the great interest of the people. The main theories in this paper are blood vessel theory and acupuncture, respectively. Especially, the composed circuit systems are classified the blood pressure depressor part and the meridian points discrimination part, respectively. The blood pressure depressor part is composed generally of low-frequency generation circuit, charging-discharging circuit, and micro-computer circuit. Finally, this research have the advantage of discrimination parts such as regular voltage generating circuit, stimulus circuit, amplifying circuit, and alarm circuit.

  • This study assessed risk factors for blood transfusion after Cesarean section in patients with partial placenta previa. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 149 patients who underwent Cesarean sections for partial placenta previa between January 2010 and October 2021. Clinical characteristics were compared between the two groups: the blood transfusion group (n=22), defined as patients who received a blood transfusion during surgery or within 24 hours after surgery, and the non-blood transfusion group (n=127), which included other patients. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified two risk factors independently associated with blood transfusion: antenatal hemorrhage (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 16.283; 95% confidence interval [CI], 4.405-60.190; P<0.001) and preoperative hemoglobin (g/dL) (aOR, 0.427; 95% CI, 0.246-0.739; P=0.002). Thus, patients who are at risk for these two factors should be carefully managed with sufficient preparation for blood transfusion and anesthetic management.

  • A numerical analysis is performed to investigate the effect of rotation on the blood flow characteristics with four different angular velocities. The artery has a cylindrical shape with 50% stenosis rate symmetrically distributed at the middle. Blood flow is considered a non-Newtonian fluid. Using the Carreau model, we apply the pulsatile velocity profile at the inlet boundary. The period of the heart beat is one second. In comparison with no-rotation case, the flow recirculation zone (FRZ) contracts and its duration is reduced in axially rotating artery. Also wall shear stress is larger after the FRZ disappears. Although the geometry of artery is axisymmetry, the spiral wave and asymmetric flow occur clearly at the small rotation rate. It is caused that the flow is influenced by the effects of the rotation and the stenosis at same time.

  • Could blood type provide a key to wellness and even affect our personality? The theory that blood type is linked to personality (and other mental and physical qualities) is popular mainly in Japan, though it has carried over to Taiwan and South Korea. The present study is the result of a scientific research in which the relationship between two important variables, namely blood group a nd group participation, are determined in the research framework. Based on some collected data from manufacturing firms which are accepted firms in Tehran Stock Exchange, and through cluster sampling a sample was selected. 380 questionnaires were distributed to the personnel of production line, of the firms then the reliability and validity of the questionnaires through independence test and average ratio comparison of the two population were examined, and through Pearson's chi-square formula, the relationship between blood group (independent variable) and group participation (dependent variable) were tested, then through Schuprow coefficient, the prioritization of blood groups over group participation was identified and the following results were obtained: people group participation is affected by their personality features which is derived from their temperament, mood, and characteristics. The study also showed that people blood groups has an effect on their group cooperation, and among blood groups, blood group A has the greatest tendency to group participation and then blood group O, AB, B are prioritized respectively.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of dysmenorrhea patients with the Inbody test results by Sasang constitutions. Methods: The data from the 541 participants were collected using a structured measurement of menstrual pain. Based on the survey responses, we had 329 women with dysmenorrhea as the test group and 212 women without dysmenorrhea as the control group. The clinical trials subjects were asked to respond to another questionnaire for identifying their constitutional types and undergo Inbody test. Results: The result of a comparison of the test and control groups showed that the DSOM test showed that the scores of blood deficiency, qi stagnation, blood stasis and phlegm were significantly higher in dysmenorrhea. The result of the taeumin's test groups showed that the DSOM test showed that the scores of heat were significantly higher. For the Sasang constitution, there is a difference on the cause of the outbreak. Taeumin from blood deficiency, blood stasis, dampness, heart, kidney, phlegm and lung is associated with dysmenorrhea. Soeumin from blood deficiency, qi stagnation, blood stasis, liver, heart, spleen and phlegm is associated with dysmenorrhea. The ratio of overweight of taeumin was low in blood deficiency and yin deficiency. The ratio of lowweight of soeumin was high in heat. Conclusions: The DSOM test showed that the scores of blood deficiency, qi stagnation, blood stasis and phlegm were significantly higher in dysmenorrhea.

  • To investigate effect of alcohol consumption characteristics on the body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure (BP), we performed statistical analyses of data from questionnaire survey among adults over 20 years old, using SPSS WIN program. Alcohol consumption characteristics such as frequency of drinking, amount and toxic degree of alcohol didn't show a significant correlation with BP. Amount of alcohol consumption and BMI showed a positive correlation (r=.264, p<.01). Waist circumference and BMI had the highest correlations with amount of alcohol consumption, which increased with aging.

  • In this study, a numerical analysis has been performed for a three-dimensional pulsatile blood flow associated with the elastic blood vessel and curved bileaflet for multiple cycles in terms of fluid-structure interaction. Here, blood has been assumed as a Newtonian, incompressible fluid. Pressure profiles have been used as boundary conditions at the ventricle and the aorta. From this analysis, the motion of the leaflet has been observed with fluttering phenomenon and rebound, and the flow fields of blood have been obtained with recirculation and regurgitation. The results can contribute to the development of design methodology for the curved bileaflet mechanical heart valve.

  • Blood glue was prepared to reutilize porcine blood. Plasma proteins after lyophilization were treated by addition of wood flour, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate, and hydrated lime to make blood glue with a suitable adhesivity. Characteristics of the prepared blood glue was monitored by measuring the viscosity with time, and the relationship between degree of hydrolysis of plasma proteins by addition of various amounts of sodium hydroxide and adhesivity was studied. To prevent the emission of formaldehyde during manufacturing of plywood by blood glue, the cross-linking reaction of plasma protein with formaldehyde was also examined. Fourier transform infrared, circular dichroism, and fluorescence spectroscopy study showed that blood plasma proteins react with formaldehyde, resulting in removal of formaldehyde by cross-linking reaction.

  • This study identified an effective control method for periodontitis by investigating the association between blood levels of vitamin D and periodontitis in Korean elderly based on raw data from the fifth Korea National Health & Nutrition Examination Survey of 2010 (KNHANES). In this study, 1,021 adults over 65 years of age were evaluated based on data from the KNHANES. Periodontal disease was assessed using community periodontal index (CPI), with CPI codes ${\geq}3$ defined as periodontitis. Blood levels of vitamin D were measured from blood samples and divided into four groups (first quartile: ${\leq}13.23ng/ml$, second quartile: 13.24~16.95 ng/ml, third quartile: 16.96~21.58 ng/ml), and fourth quartile >21.59 ng/ml). Using multiple logistic regression analyses, the variables were adjusted for general characteristics, oral health-related characteristics, health-related characteristics, and bone mineral density. The statistical analysis was performed using the SAS (ver. 9.2). The results of this study are as follows: the prevalence of periodontitis was 42.6% in Korean elderly. After adjusting for general, oral health-related, and health-related, the risk of periodontitis in the first quartile group was 1.74 times (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02~2.98) higher than that of the fourth quartile group (p=0.041). After adjusting for general, oral health-related, and health-related characteristics as well as bone mineral density, the risk of periodontitis in the first quartile group was 1.73 times (95% CI, 1.02~2.96) higher than that of the four quartile group (p=0.042). There was a significant relationship between blood vitamin D level and periodontitis in Korean elderly. For the prevention of periodontitis, factors related to vitamin D should be considered along with other risk factors.
