Joint synchronization and parameter estimation in OFDM signaling

  • Challenges in cognitive radio and tactical communications include recognizing anonymously received signals and estimating parameters in a blind or semi-blind manner. In this paper, we examine this issue for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signaling. There are several parameters in OFDM signaling, and the blind receiver must extract and consider the synchronization issue. We assume that the blind receiver is aware of modulation type, OFDM, and not aware of chip duration and the length of cyclic prefix. First, we present new criteria based on kurtosis to estimate these parameters and compare their performance at different levels of additive white Gaussian noise with methods based on correlation, kurtosis, maximum likelihood, and matched filter. Then, we perform synchronization and estimate the start time based on these criteria and several new criteria in two steps: fine and coarse synchronization. Finally, in a more practical setup, we present the idea of jointly estimating the mentioned parameters and the signal start time as coarse synchronization. We compare different criteria and show that one of the proposed criteria has the highest efficiency.

순환상관(Cyclic Correlation)을 이용한 OFDM 시스템에서의 블라인드 동기 알고리즘 (Blind OFDM Synchronization Algorithm using Cyclic Correlation)

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDM 시스템의 시간 오차와 주파수 오차를 추정하는 방안을 제시하고 있다. 제안한 동기 알고리즘은 수신 신호의 순환상괸(cyclic correlation)을 이용하며, 이 순환상관에는 시간과 주파수 오차 정보가 모두 나타나게 된다. 따라서 제안하는 추정 알고리즘은 여분의 학습심볼(training symbol)를 필요로 하지 않으며, 채널의 정보를 사용하지 않는다. 제안한 추정 방법은 평균자승오차(mean square error) 성능에서 잡음이나 채널의 특성에 상관없이 거의 일정한 성능을 가지며, 실험 결과는 이러한 특징을 뒷받침 해주고 있다. 좀 더 정확한 추정을 위해서, 순환 상관을 평균을 취하는 방법이 적용되었다. 이 경우, 평균을 취하는 방법은 평균을 취하지 않는 방법보다 훨씬 더 정확한 추정을 가능하게 한다.

  • This paper presents a secure and blind adaptive audio watermarking algorithm based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). The audio signal is divided into frames and each one is decomposed adaptively, by EMD, into several Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). The watermark and the synchronization codes are then embedded into the extrema of the last IMF. The experimental results show that the proposed method has good imperceptibility and robustness against signal processing attacks.

3GPP LTE FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향링크 수신기에서 초기 셀 탐색을 위한 CP 검출 기반의 SSS 검출 기법 (A CP Detection Based SSS Detection Method for Initial Cell Search in 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD Dual Mode Downlink Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 3GPP LTE (3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution) FDD/TDD (Frequency Division Duplex/Time Division Duplex) 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기의 초기 셀 탐색을 위한 CP (Cyclic Prefix) 검출 기반의 SSS (Secondary Synchronization Signal) 검출 기법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 SSS 검출은 CP 타입을 고려하여 두 번의 SSS 검출을 수행하는 블라인드 검출 구조의 coherent 검출 방식이 고려되나, coherent 검출 방식은 PSS (Primary Synchronization Signal)에서의 채널 정보를 이용하기 때문에 고속환경에서 채널 보상 오류로 인해 성능이 열화되며 이러한 채널 보상의 오류는 PSS와 SSS가 세 심볼 떨어져 있는 TDD 모드 프레임 구조에서 더욱 가중된다. 또한 블라인드 SSS 검출 방식은 연산량의 증가로 인해 구현의 복잡도가 증가하는 단점이 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고속 이동체 환경에서 FDD 모드뿐만 아니라 TDD 모드에서도 안정적인 SSS 검출성능을 보장할 수 있고, SSS 검출 이전에 CP 검출을 수행함으로써 블라인드 검출 구조보다 연산량을 감소시킬 수 있는 CP 타입 선 결정 검출 구조의 non-coherent SSS 검출 기법을 제안한다. 다양한 환경에서 제안된 SSS 검출 기법의 성능 분석을 통해 제안된 방식이 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기에서 안정적인 검출 성능을 보장함을 입증하였다.

Intersymbol Decorrelating Detector for Asynchronous CDMA Systems

  • Estimated channel information, especially multipath length and multipath channel of the desired user, is necessary for most previously reported linear blind multiuser detectors in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. This paper presents a new blind intersymbol decorrelating detector in asynchronous CDMA systems, which uses the cross correlation matrix of the consecutive symbols. The proposed detector is attractive for its simplicity because no channel estimation is required except the synchronization of the desired user. Compared with other reported multiuser detectors, simulation results show that the proposed detector provides a good performance when the active users have significant intersymbol interference and the multipath length is short.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) is proposed as a key solution to improve spectral efficiency and overcome the spectrum scarcity. Spectrum sensing is an important task in each CR system with the aim of identifying the spectrum holes and using them for secondary user's (SU) communications. Several conventional methods for spectrum sensing have been proposed such as energy detection, matched filter detection, etc. However, the main limitation of these classical methods is that the CR network is not able to communicate with its own base station during the spectrum sensing period and thus a fraction of the available primary frame cannot be exploited for data transmission. The other limitation in conventional methods is that the SU data frames should be synchronized with the primary network data frames. To overcome the above limitations, here, we propose a spectrum sensing technique based on blind source separation (BSS) that does not need time synchronization between the primary network and the CR. Moreover, by using the proposed technique, the SU can maintain its transmission with the base station even during spectrum sensing and thus higher rates are achieved by the CR network. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the accuracy of conventional BSS-based spectrum sensing techniques.

자체 제작한 호흡 동기화 장치를 통한 흉부 일반촬영 검사의 호흡 재현성 평가 (Evaluation of Respiration Reproducibility of Chest General X-ray Examination using Self-made Respiratory Synchronization Device)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 일반촬영용 호흡 동기화 장치를 개발하여 호흡 협조가 어려운 환자의 가슴 검사를 할 때 들숨의 재현성을 높이는 것이다. 공기압 센서를 이용하여 호흡 동기화 장치를 자체 제작(X-RSD)하였고, 심폐소생술용 마네킹에 벤틸레이터를 연결하여 공기를 주입하였다. 이때 주입한 공기의 양은 SkillReporting 장치를 이용하여 정량화하였다. 마네킹의 가슴에 X-RSD를 위치한 후 공기의 양을 200-700 cc까지 100 cc 씩 총 6 단계를 나눠서 검사하였다. 오차 평가는 총 80회씩 반복 측정하여 X-RSD의 민감도를 측정하였고 민감도는 100%로 매우 정교한 결과 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 이후 가슴 측면검사를 X-RSD를 보면서 검사한 영상과, 암맹 검사한 영상을 비교평가 하였고, X-RSD의 폐 용적이 암맹 검사보다 용적도 크게 측정되고, 편차도 적게 측정되었다. 종합적으로 X-RSD를 이용하면 협조가 어려운 환자의 가슴검사에 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 일반촬영의 재촬영률을 줄여 전체적인 피폭선량 감소에 기여가 가능할 것이라 사료된다.

A Study on the Implement of AI-based Integrated Smart Fire Safety (ISFS) System in Public Facility

  • Even at this point in the era of digital transformation, we are still facing many problems in the safety sector that cannot prevent the occurrence or spread of human casualties. When you are in an unexpected emergency, it is often difficult to respond only with human physical ability. Human casualties continue to occur at construction sites, manufacturing plants, and multi-use facilities used by many people in everyday life. If you encounter a situation where normal judgment is impossible in the event of an emergency at a life site where there are still many safety blind spots, it is difficult to cope with the existing manual guidance method. New variable guidance technology, which combines artificial intelligence and digital twin, can make it possible to prevent casualties by processing large amounts of data needed to derive appropriate countermeasures in real time beyond identifying what safety accidents occurred in unexpected crisis situations. When a simple control method that divides and monitors several CCTVs is digitally converted and combined with artificial intelligence and 3D digital twin control technology, intelligence augmentation (IA) effect can be achieved that strengthens the safety decision-making ability required in real time. With the enforcement of the Serious Disaster Enterprise Punishment Act, the importance of distributing a smart location guidance system that urgently solves the decision-making delay that occurs in safety accidents at various industrial sites and strengthens the real-time decision-making ability of field workers and managers is highlighted. The smart location guidance system that combines artificial intelligence and digital twin consists of AIoT HW equipment, wireless communication NW equipment, and intelligent SW platform. The intelligent SW platform consists of Builder that supports digital twin modeling, Watch that meets real-time control based on synchronization between real objects and digital twin models, and Simulator that supports the development and verification of various safety management scenarios using intelligent agents. The smart location guidance system provides on-site monitoring using IoT equipment, CCTV-linked intelligent image analysis, intelligent operating procedures that support workflow modeling to immediately reflect the needs of the site, situational location guidance, and digital twin virtual fencing access control technology. This paper examines the limitations of traditional fixed passive guidance methods, analyzes global technology development trends to overcome them, identifies the digital transformation properties required to switch to intelligent variable smart location guidance methods, explains the characteristics and components of AI-based public facility smart fire safety integrated system (ISFS).
