중질 잔사유의 연소성 분석과 보조 분사에 의한 연소성 향상에 관한 검토 (Examination on Combustion Quality Analysis of Residue Heavy Fuel Oil and Improvement of Combustion Quality Using Pre-injection)

  • Due to the development of the petroleum refining technology and continuously increased demand from markets, a quantity of gasoline and diesel oil produced from a restricted quantity of crude oil has been increasing, and residual fuel to be used at marine diesel engines has been gradually becoming low quality. As a result, it was recently reported that trouble oils which cause abnormal combustion such as knocking with extreme noise and misfire from internal combustion engines were increasing throughout the world. In this study, an author investigated ignitability and combustion quality by using combustion analyzer with constant volume(FCA, Fuel Combustion Analyzer) and middle speed diesel engine about MDO(Marine Diesel Oil), HFO(Heavy Fuel Oil), LCO(Light Cycle Oil) and Blend-HFO which was blended LCO of 1000 liters with HFO of 600 liters. Moreover, for betterment of ignitability and combustion quality of injected fuels, multi-injection experiment was carried out in the diesel engine using Blend-HFO.   • The result of combustion experiment by using the methanol-gasoline blended fuel showed that the supplying pressure appeared the maximum pressure between equivalent rate 1.1 and 1.2. and the evaporation of the fuel has been known to have been greatly influenced by surrounding temperature and the combustion chamber temperature after being injected from the injector And it is confirmed that the rate of evaporation had been suddenly dropped according to the temperature in the combustion chamber though the injected foe) had been fully evaporated Such tendency has visibly appeared when the zone is leaner. and we recognize that the rich fuel supply is needed in the operation of cold operating.

바이오디젤 혼합 연료에 커먼레일 디젤기관에서 예비 분사시기가 연소 및 배기 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of pilot injection timing on the Combustion and Emission Characteristics in a Common Rail Diesel Engine with Bio-diesel blended fuel)

  • 본 연구는 4실린더 커먼레일 디젤 기관에서 바이오 디젤 혼합 연료를 사용하여 예비 분사시기와 EGR율을 변화시켰을 때 연소 압력과 배기 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 실험을 수행하였다. 예비 분사 시기와 EGR율은 디젤 기관의 연소 및 배기 배출 특성에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 많이 사용되고 있는 기관 회전 속도 2,000rpm에서 바이오 디젤 혼합율 20%의 연료를 사용하여 예비 분사 시기와 EGR율에 다양하게 변화를 주어 실험을 하였다. 실험결과, 도시 평균 유효 압력은 예비 분사 시기가 상사점전 BTDC $10^{\circ}$에서 가장 높았으며, 연소 압력과 열 발생율은 동일 예비 분사 시기에서 EGR율에 비례하여 감소하였다. NOx배 출량은 예비 분사시기에 관계없이 EGR율이 증가할수록 큰 폭으로 감소하였으며, 매연(Soot)은 예비 분사 시기 BTDC $20^{\circ}$에서 가장 적게 배출되었다.

COMBUSTION VISUALIZATION AND EMISSIONS OF A DIRECT INJECTION COMPRESSION IGNITION ENGINE FUELED WITH BIO-DIESOHOL

  • The purpose of this paper is to experimentally investigate the engine pollutant emissions and combustion characteristics of diesel engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blended fuel (bio-diesohol). The experiments were performed on a single-cylinder DI diesel engine. Two blend fuels were consisted of $15\%$ ethanol, $83.5\%$ diesel and $1.5\%$ solublizer (by volume) were evaluated: one without cetane improver (E15-D) and one with a cetane improver (E15-D+CN improver). The engine performance parameters and emissions including fuel consumption, exhaust temperature, lubricating oil temperature, Bosch smoke number, CO, NOx, and THC were measured, and compared to the baseline diesel fuel. In order to gain insight into the combustion characteristics of bio-diesohol blends, the engine combustion processes for blended fuels and diesel fuel were observed using an Engine Video System (AVL 513). The results showed that the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) increased at overall engine operating conditions, but it is worth noting that the brake thermal efficiency (BTE) increased by up to $1-2.3\%$ with two blends when compared to diesel fuel. It is found that the engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blend fuels has higher emissions of THC, lower emissions of CO, NOx, and smoke. And the results also indicated that the cetane improver has positive effects on CO and NOx emissions, but negative effect on THC emission. Based on engine combustion visualization, it is found that ignition delay increased, combustion duration and the luminosity of flame decreased for the diesohol blends. The combustion is improved when the CN improver was added to the blend fuel.

  • This study describes the effect of EGR rate on the combustion and emissions characteristics of a four cylinder CRDI diesel engine using biodiesel (soybean oil) blended diesel fuel. The test fuel is composed of 30% biodiesel and 70% ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel) by volumetric ratio. The experiment of engine emissions and performance characteristics were performed under the various EGR rates. The experimental results showed that ignition delay was extended, the maximum combustion pressure and heat release gradually were decreased with increasing EGR rate. Comparing biodiesel blended fuel to ULSD, the injection quantity of biodiesel blended fuel was further increased than ULSD. The emission results showed that $NO_x$ emission of biodiesel blended fuel becomes higher according to the increase of EGR rate. However, in the case of biodiesel blended fuel, HC, CO and soot emissions were decreased compared to ULSD.

역청탄과 아역청탄 혼합연소조건에서 입자크기와 혼소율이 열물성반응과 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Particle size and Blending Ratio on Thermo Reaction and Combustion Characteristics in Co-firing with Bituminous and Sub-bituminous Coals)

  • In order to provide fundamental information for developing reaction model in the practical blended coal power plants, effects of particle size and blending ratio on combustion characteristics and thermal reaction in co-firing with bituminous and sub-bituminous coals were experimentally investigated using a TGA and a laboratory-scale burner. Characteristic parameters including ignition, burnout temperature and activation energy were determined from TG and DTG combustion profiles. Distributions of flame length and mean particle temperature were investigated from the visualization of flames in slit-burner system. As coal particle size decreased and volatile matter content increased, characteristic temperatures and activation energy decreased. The ignition/burnout characteristics and activation energy are linearly influenced by a variation in particle size and blending ratio. These results indicated that the control of the coal blending ratio can improve the combustion efficiency for sub-bituminous coals and the ignition characteristics for bituminous coals.

  • This study focused on the effect of the biomass blended ratio on air-staged pulverized coal furnace. The hybrid NOx reduction technology between fuel blending and air staging has been applied in an air-staged pulverized coal fired furnace. The results indicated that co-firing biomass with coal could reduce NOx emissions in an air-staged combustion. In addition, carbon burnout and flame temperature increased under the air-staged condition. A dominant synergistic effect on NOx reduction and carbon burnout was observed when biomass co-firing with coal was applied in air staged combustion.

디젤기관에서의 어유의 연소특성과 기관성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Engine Performance and Combustion Characteristics of Fish Oil in a Diesel Engine)

  • The engine performance and combustion characteristics of diesel oil and fish oil blended with diesel oils were investigated at various blending rate of fish oil in a diesel engine. The maximum pressure showed no significant difference among test fuels at low load, but it was higher as the blending rate of fish oil increases at high load. Increasing the blending rate of fish oil, the rate of heat release and burned fraction were higher than those of diesel oil. The ignition delay became longer than that of diesel oil as the blending rate of fish oil increases, and its differences were larger at different loads. The combustion duration and density of smoke were shorter and lower as the blending rate of fish oil increases. The rate of fuel consumption showed no significant difference between diesel oil and fish blended with diesel oils.

Paraffin wax/LDPE 혼합 연료의 연소 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of Paraffin wax/LDPE Blended fuel)

  • 하이브리드 로켓을 위한 파라핀 왁스/LDPE 혼합 연료에 관한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 혼합 연료 의 성능 평가를 위해 혼합 연료의 다양한 연소 특성을 순수 파라핀, HTPB, HDPE, SP-1a 연료와 비교하였다. 순수 파라핀의 후퇴율은 HDPE에 비해 large-scale과 lab-scale 모터에서 각각 10.2, 9.8배 증가 하였다. Lab-scale 혼합 연료의 후퇴율은 HDPE에 비해 3.4배 증가하여 HTPB, HDPE 연료보다는 높은 후퇴율을 나타냈으나 순수 파라핀, SP-1a에 비해서는 낮은 후퇴율을 나타냈다. 혼합 연료의 특성속도와 비추력은 순수 파라핀, HTPB, HDPE 보다 높았고 SP-1a 연료와 대등하였다. 이로부터 혼합 연료가 효과적인 하이브리드 로켓 연료가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

소형 어선용 디이젤 기관의 혼합연료유 연소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion of Blended Fuel Oil in a Diesel Engine for Small-Sized Fishing Boat)

  • 국산 소형어선용 예연소실식 디이젤기관에 혼합연료유(정유+중유)를 사용할 경우 혼합연료유의 성질, 연소특성 및 기관성능에 관하여 실험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 혼합연료유의 혼합비율(중량비율)이 증가함에 따라 비중은 선형적으로 증가하였고, 점도-온도 곡선은 Walther-ASTM 식과 일치하였으며, 착화성지수인 CCAI의 값은 기울기 1.0에 가까운 직선으로 증가하였다. 2) 동일운전조건에서 착화지연은 CCAI의 값이 810(혼합비율 60%)까지는 미소하게 증가하였으나, 그 이상의 값에서는 현저하게 증가하였다. 따라서, 혼합연료유의 착화성을 나타내는 CCAI의 값은 810 이상에서 적용하는 것이 타당하다. 3) 연소최고압력은 혼합비율 40%까지 증가하다가 감소하였으며, 그을음농도는 60%부터 현저하게 증가하였으므로, 본 실험에서 무그을음 연료비절감의 안전운전 혼합비율은 50%가 적당하다
