The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of chemical finishes on performance characteristics of microfiber blend fabrics. A 60% polyester microfiber/40% cotton blend woven fabric was finished by ten chemicals: three silicone softeners, one fluorochemical, and their mixtures. Performance characteristics examined were abrasion resistance, and oil/water repellency. Chemical finishes containing dimethylpolysiloxane silicone performed better in fabric abrasion resistance than other chemicals. The correlation between abrasion wear and instrumental measures of fabric hand indicated that the breaking strength loss by abrasion related negatively to the coefficient of friction. This implied that the finished fabrics with lower surface frictional coefficient (slipperier) had higher breaking strength loss by abrasion. The microfiber structure of polyester did not appear to help in oil/water repellency due to the larger surface areas of the microfibers. The fluorochemical finished fabric had the most significant improvement on oil/water repellency. The silicone-only finishes, however, did not improve oil/water repellency. When mixed with the fluorochemical, silicone finishes showed improved oil/water repellency.
Due to the development of the petroleum refining technology and continuously increased demand from markets, a quantity of gasoline and diesel oil produced from a restricted quantity of crude oil has been increasing, and residual fuel to be used at marine diesel engines has been gradually becoming low quality. As a result, it was recently reported that trouble oils which cause abnormal combustion such as knocking with extreme noise and misfire from internal combustion engines were increasing throughout the world. In this study, an author investigated ignitability and combustion quality by using combustion analyzer with constant volume(FCA, Fuel Combustion Analyzer) and middle speed diesel engine about MDO(Marine Diesel Oil), HFO(Heavy Fuel Oil), LCO(Light Cycle Oil) and Blend-HFO which was blended LCO of 1000 liters with HFO of 600 liters. Moreover, for betterment of ignitability and combustion quality of injected fuels, multi-injection experiment was carried out in the diesel engine using Blend-HFO. According to the results of FCA analysis, ignitability and combustion quality was bad in the order of MDO

New compounds were made using various NR/BR blend ratio and oil content to improve mechanical properties of rubber isolator at low temperature. Mechanical properties were investigated as a function of NR/BR blend ratio and oil content. Hardness and tensile modulus generally increased, but tensile strength and elongation at break decreased with increasing BR content. Hardness, tensile modulus and tensile strength decreased, but elongation at break were nearly the same with increasing oil content. The glass transition temperature of NR and BR were found to be $-50^{\circ}C$ and $-90^{\circ}C$ respectively based on the abrupt drops in storage elastic modulus and peak of loss factor. Two distinct transition temperature were observed in NR/BR blend compounds and each transition point was not affected by blend level indicating incompatible nature of NR/BR blend.
The purpose of this experiment is to prepare ethylene propylene diene terpolymer(EPDM)/ acrylonitrile butadiene rubber(NBR) blend which represents good environmental resistant properties including favorable oil and ozone resistance. With incorporation of EPDM, NBR and other ingredients, the rubber and chemical additives were mixed by mechanical method such as Banbury mixer and open 2-roll mill. Then rubber vulcanizates were manufactured by hot press and mechanical properties, oil and ozone resistance of the test specimens were measured. The oil resistance and ozone resistance of EPDM and NBR, respectively, is remarkably improved by blending EPDM with NBR. The optimum results of oil and zone resistant characteristics were obtained at EPDM/NBR(=25/75 wt%) composition ratio.
In this article, spray characteristics in CI engines fuelled with vegetable oils and its derivatives will be reviewed. Of edible vegetable oils, soybean oil and rapeseed oil were mainly investigated. Of inedible vegetable oils, jatropha oil and used frying oil were main concern on the research on the spray characteristics in CI engine. Spray angle and spray penetration were mainly examined among the macroscopic spray characteristics and Sauter mean diameter was only investigated among the microscopic spray characteristics. There exist six different definitions of spray angle which should be examined. Neat vegetable oil and biodiesel fuels show smaller spray angle than diesel fuel. Biodiesel fuel and vegetable oils and its blend have a longer spray penetration than diesel fuel. However, biodiesel blends with diesel shows the similar spray penetration with diesel fuel. SMDs in the biodiesel spray, vegetable oils and its blends spray are higher than that in the diesel spray.
Seventy-two crossbred pigs weighing an average of 41.5 kg were assigned on the basis of sex, weight and litter to one of four dietary treatments in a factorial (4 treatments${\times}$2 sexes) arrangement. The control diet was based on barley and soybean meal while the experimental treatments consisted of diets in which a portion of the dietary protein was supplied by 20% of a 50:50 blend of extruded ($130^{\circ}C$ for 20 to 25 sec) peas and full-fat canola seed, 20% of a 50:50 blend of unextruded peas and full-fat canola seed or a diet containing 10% peas, 6% canola meal and 4% canola oil (to equal the level of canola oil provided by 10% whole canola seed). Digestibility coefficients for dry matter, crude protein and gross energy were significantly higher (p<0.05) for the control diet than for the other three diets. Extrusion produced no beneficial effects (p>0.05) on nutrient digestibility and there were no differences in digestibility between the diet based on intact canola seed compared with the diet containing canola meal and oil. Choice of protein supplement had no significant effects on gain, feed intake or feed conversion during the grower or finisher phases and over the entire experimental period. Extrusion of the pea-canola blend produced no beneficial effects on pig performance as the performance of pigs fed either the extruded or unextruded blend of peas and canola seed was similar. In addition, the performance of pigs fed diets containing intact canola seed was similar to that of pigs fed canola meal and oil. Castrates gained faster and consumed more feed than gilts (p<0.05). However, their feed conversion was poorer than that of the gilts during the finisher period. There were no significant differences in carcass traits between pigs fed the control and any of the experimental treatments. Extrusion had no effect on carcass traits and the carcasses of pigs fed canola meal and oil did not differ from those of pigs fed whole canola seed. Castrates had a significantly lower dressing percentage, lower estimated lean yield but greater loin fat depth than gilts (p<0.05). The results of this experiment indicate that peas in combination with canola seed or canola meal are an acceptable alternative to soybean meal as a protein supplement for use in growing-finishing swine diets. Extrusion did not appear to have any beneficial effects on the nutritional value of the canola seed-pea blend as nutrient digestibility, growth performance and carcass traits were similar for pigs fed the unextruded blend of peas and canola seed compared with the extruded product. Since the process adds to the cost of the raw products, its use is unlikely to be economical.
Recently we have a growing interest in environmental pollution and alternative energy. Diesel engine is generally used to produce the power on the ground and the sea. However, the combustion characteristics are changed on account of the wear of fuel system and the altered ambient condition of the combustion chamber by the increment of the engine operation hour. Therefore combustion characteristics on fuel injection timing are experimentally investigated to find out the optimum fuel injection timing in the case of the aged diesel engine using biodiesel blend oil. Cylinder pressure, rate of pressure rise, rate of heat release and combustion gas temperature are risen by the advancing fuel injection timing, while the exhaust gas temperature and soot emission level are decreased by the advancing of fuel injection timing. The least specific fuel oil consumption is indicated at BTDC $26^{\circ}$ CA on the 75%load and at 1800rpm.
Compared to gasoline engines, diesel engines with a relatively simple ignition system are more advantageous in the application of biodeisel fuel to engine. Then in this study the comparative analysis on the spray characteristics and combustion emissions characteristic between the biodiesel(soybean oil) and diesel, the fuel for commercial diesel engine, was performed with common rail injection system. Injection pressure and ratio of biodiesel blended fuel were selected as main experimental variables. Consequently, it can be found that there is no significant difference in the macro characteristics of the spray behavior(spray penetration and spray angle) in response to change in the blend ratio of soybean oil and diesel at a fixed injection pressure, in particular, soot creation in combustion emissions in the region of low pressure was greatly affected by the blend ratio of soybean oil, however, the creation in the region of high pressure was almost unaffected by the blend ratio because of promoted atomization.

In this work. a potential inexpensive epoxy resin. epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) was synthesized and applied as a toughening agent for 4.4'-tetradiglycidyl diaminodiphenyl methane (TGDDM). The chemical structure of ESO was characterized by FT-IR, $^1H NMR, and ^{13}C NMR$ spectroscopy. The curing behaviors. thermal stabilities. fracture toughness. and flexural strength of TGDDM/ESO blend systems were investigated by using the dynamic DSC. thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). and flexural tests. The thermal stabilities of TGDDM/ESO blend systems were decreased with increasing ESO contents. whereas the critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$) and flexural strength ($\sigma_f$) were increased with ESO contents up to 10 wt% ESO.
The intention of this study is to investigate the properties of polymer blend, NBR/PVC vulcanizates and blending procedures such as roll-mixing temperatures and sequences for polymer blending of NBR and PVC(resin type). The results obtained are as follows: 1. The roll temperature applied for polymer blending is around $150^{\circ}C$. At this temperature region, the degradation of rubber stock, which may be caused by heat, can be minimized and mill processing in practical application in industries can also be facilitated. 2. It is obviously necessary that a small amount of plasticizers should be added to the stock for improving processibility of roll mixing and physical properties. 3. On roll-mixing sequence, it is more effective that PVC compounded with plasticizer is added to NBR milled on hot roll. 4. The vulcanizates of the blends with different degree of polymerization of PVC ale similar to one another in properties. 5. NBR/PVC(70/30) blends shows the better physical characters than eve,-made foreign latex blend except abrasion-resistance. 6. As PVC addition ratio is increased, the physical properties such as resistance to ozone, tear, heat and oil and tensile strength, modulus, hardness have also improved, on the other hand, tension set and rebound character decreased. 7. The curve of ultimate elongation have point of inflection at the ratio of $30\sim40$ part of PVC. 8. While CR is blended, the physical properties such as brittle point, rebound and resistance to oil in high temperature have improved. 9. Polymer blend of NBR and domestic PVC is applied for the industrial utility such as rubber sole and heel, electric wire cover and oil-resistant packing, coating and gasket, printing roll, film for food packing etc.
