256-Channel Trans-Admittance Scanner with Lesion Estimation Algorithm for Breast Cancer Detection

  • Breast cancer detection using electrical impedance techniques is based on numerous experimental findings that cancerous tissues have higher electrical conductivity values than normal tissues. Lately, by taking advantage of the structure of current flows underneath a planar probe of array electrodes, a mathematical formula to find lesions from a measured trans­admittance map has been derived. In order to experimentally validate its mathematical analysis and the suggested lesion estimation algorithm, we developed a 256-channel trans-admittance scanner (TAS) for probing anomalies underneath a planar array of electrodes. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the TAS. Its performance together with the lesion estimation algorithm was evaluated using saline phantoms. Further studies are proposed to validate the system on human subjects.

  • In this paper, we developed a portable electrical ventilator that could be controlled by the microcontroller. Control algorithm of motor drive t programmed with ASM96 assembly language software. We evaluated the system by measuring the parameters such as motor speed, feedback gain and overall specification.

  • In this paper, we have designed a portable patient monitor that monitors both ECG and NIBP(Non-Invasive Blood Pressure) for a patient who is bring moved around inside a hospital. System hardware consists of the one-chip microcomputer(80c251), A/D converter, ROM, RAM, LCD diplsy, two channel ECG module and NIBP module. NIBP module was calibrated to the values found in NIBP analyzer. ECG module detects QRS complex and compute heart rate. NIBP module measures the blood pressure by oscilometric method.

  • In this paper, we present a 3D visualization method of medical image on PC. Using morphological method, we used to segment 2D medical images (X-ray CT, MRI). Presented method is treating in some detail two operations : dilation and erosion. Also known as an isosurface, using a constant density surface make a target organ in 3D. In the whole procedure for visualization. The medical images are implemented by using Visual C++ 5.0 in activeX and IDL(interactive data language) under PC environment.

  • As the fundamental study to set up the algorithm of the X-ray dosimeter, we obtained the data using the designed X-ray input circuit and the semiconductor sensor. We measured the data of the ten time in the various kVp, mA and sec and then the obtained each data is averaged. After the data obtained under the circumstances of total 600, these data saved the database. We developed the algorithm of the X-ray dosimeter using the saved data. Later the result of this study is so important to design X-ray dosimeter.

  • We have developed algorithm for calculating tumor dose from transmission dose in radiation therapy. Using data acquisition card and LabVIEW programming language, we acquired the signal from 9 ion chambers, processed and displayed it in real time. And we also developed GUI(Graphic User Interface) for system operation.

  • Recent development in large area flat-panel x-ray detector technology enables clinical application of digital tomosyntesis. Unlike conventional motion tomography using x-ray films, flat-panel x-ray detectors provide projection images in digital formats so that tomographic images can be synthesized in a more flexible way. For the digital tomosynthesis, precise movements of the x-ray source and the x-ray detector with respect to a fulcrum point are necessary. In this study, we apply the digital tomosynthesis technique to the flat-panel detector based micro-CT in which the flat-panel detector and the x-ray source rotate together on a circular arc. The experimental results suggest that flat-panel detector based 3D CTs can be used for digital tomosynthesis in the clinical environment.

  • A human version of Korean total artificial heart(TAM) was designed basso on the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) data To obtain accurate measurement or human thoracic structure including the valvular sited we analyzed the dimensions of the natural heart of healthy persons and cardiomyopathy(CM) patients. The MRI findings were analyzed to measure the volume of the thoracic cavity that would be occupied by the TAM. The design upgrade of the mechanical performed was also performed with the computer aided design(CAD) system to develop a new version of Korean TAH.

  • 전기 유압식 좌심실 보조기에 있어서 현재 가장 큰 문제점 중의 하나로 지적되고 있는 것은 이완기에 좌심방의 혈액 유입상황을 고려하지 않은 과도한 밀판 당김 속도로 인해 생기는 좌심방의 함몰현상이다. 논문에서는 좌심방의 함몰현상을 구체적으로 정의하고, 좌심방의 함몰여부를 가늠하기 위해 외부에서 관측가능한 요소들과 좌심방의 상태와의 상관관계들을 고찰해 본 다음 이러한 함몰현상을 방지할 수 있도록 이완기 밀판 속도와 이동거리를 능동적으로 변화시키는 방식들을 구성하여 실험을 통해 그 효용성을 검증하였다.
