  • In this paper, We are evaluated about bio-signal between general workers and nuclear medicine workers which is more radiation exposure relatively. In order to reciprocal evaluated two group, we experimented nuclear medicine workers in Chung-Buk National University Hospital at department of nuclear medicine and worker in Chon-Nam National University Hospital at CT room, general radiographic room, medical recording room, receipt room, general office room. Used of experimental Equipments as follows, for a level of radiation measurement by pocket dosimeter which made by Arrow-Tech company, for heart rate and blood pressure measurement by TONOPORT V which made by GE medical systems company, for heat flux and skin temperature and energy expenditure measurement by Armband senseware 2000 which made by Bodymedia company. Result of experiment obtains as follows: 1) Individual radiation exposure is recorded 3.05 uSv at department of nuclear medicine and order as follows CT room, general radiograpic room, medical recording room, receipt room, general office room. Department of nuclear medicine more 1.5 times than other places. 2) Radiation accumulated dose is not related to Heat flux, Skin temperature, Energy expenditure. 3) Blood pressure is recorded equal to nuclear medical workers, general officer, general people about systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. Compared to blood pressure between nuclear medical works which is more radiation exposure and other workers was not changed. Consequently, more radiation exposed workers at nuclear medicine field doesn't have hazard.

In the measurement of the optical signal with CCD, the quantification method for photon counts based on bio-luminescence imaging technique can provide comparative reference data. In this paper, we described theoretical derivation of our proposed concept. We hope this method could be a useful standard reference for quantitative date analysis in optical imaging.

  • This study investigated the effects of textile attachments on electroencephalogram using 20 persons (10 males and 10 females). Four types of attachment cushions were manufactured by changing the shell fabric (cotton and microfiber) and interlining (synthetic loose fiber and buckwheat). This was done using BIOS-S8 (BioBrain Inc., Korea), an 8-channel polygraph for multi-body signal measurement, to measure EEG. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 statistical program. EEG values were significantly activated according to gender, particularly when the subjects' eyes were open. For the male cases, 'RT', 'RAHB' values were highly activated and for the female cases, 'RA', 'RB', 'RG', 'RFA', 'RST', 'RLB', 'RMB', 'RST', 'RMT' values were highly activated. Examining the differences in EEG according to type of attachment indicated no significant difference in both sexes. However, in cases of females with their eyes closed, the 'RSA' index was quite different in the left occipital lobe (O1), and when their eyes were open, the 'RFA' in the right frontal lobe (F4) showed a significant difference. However, there was no obvious correlation between the activation of EEG and the subjective preference of textile attachments.

  • The biological active points (BAP) are known as low resistance spots or good electro-permeable points. In this paper, a new method for BAP detection using the bio-impedance measurement system based on the adaptive frequency tracking filter (AFTF) and the transition event detector is presented. Also, the microcontroller process continuous time demodulation of the modulated signal by multi frequency components using the AFTF. The transition event detector based on the phase space method is applied about each frequency using the BAP equivalent model which is proposed.

  • A field-effect transistor (FET) is one of the most commonly used semiconductor devices. Recently, increasing interest has been given to FET-based biosensors owing totheir outstanding benefits, which are likely to include a greater signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), fast measurement capabilities, and compact or portable instrumentation. Thus far, a number of FET-based biosensors have been developed to study biomolecular interactions, which are the key drivers of biological responses in in vitro or in vivo systems. In this review, the detection principles and characteristics of FET devices are described. In addition, biological applications of FET-type biosensors and the Debye length limitation are discussed.

  • Airway wall thickness is an important bio-marker for evaluation of pulmonary diseases such as stenosis, bronchiectasis. Nevertheless, an image-based analysis of the airway tree can provide precise and valuable airway size information, quantitative measurement of airway wall thickness in CT images involves various sources of error and uncertainty. So we have developed an accurate airway wall measurement technique for small airways with three-dimensional (3-D) approach. To illustrate performance of these techniques, we used airway phantom that consisted of 4 acryl tubes with various inner and outer diameters. Results show that evaluation of interpolation and deconvolution methods of airways in 3-D CT images, and significant improvement over the full-width-half-maximum method for measurement of not only location of the luminal and outer edge of the airway wall but airway wall thickness.

  • Today, livestock industry grows faster and bigger. The number of livestock numbers per farm also grows rapidly. The bigger farms need more sophisticated control of livestock to prevent from all possible diseases, especially contagious diseases. In Korea, diseases cause serious economic loss of 2 trillion won every year, which is about 20% of the total production output. Researches on the wireless bio-signal monitoring technology for livestock are of great importance in the world. In this paper, as a way to predict the possible diseases, we propose a measurement method of the pulse of dairy cows for the continuous health monitoring. It is possible to measure a pulse from central artery and the left chest-wall of the cow. The pulse from central artery is measured by the sensor attached at the tail winding. The pulse at the left chest-wall can also be measured with our newly designed harness.

  • A respiration measurement system for vital signs was developed. Respiration signals were measured, processed, and analyzed. Four electrodes, attached on the surface of the skin, were used to monitor respiration signals by impedance pneumography. The measured signals were amplified, detrended, filtered, and transferred toan embedded module. The Kalman filter was used to remove motion artifact from the respiration signals. Experiments were conducted at stable condition and walking condition to evaluate the performance of the system. Respiration rates of five males and five females were measured and analyzed at each condition. The referenced respiration signal was determined by temperature of nose surroundings. The results showed that the respiration rates at the walking condition had more motion artifacts than the stable condition. The accuracies of the respiration measurement system with Kalman filter were found as 96% at the stable condition and 95% at the walking condition. The results showed that the Kalman filter was an effective tool to remove the motion artifact from the respiration signal.

  • This research is to develop PPG filtering method for respiration measurement in U-Health Care system. Respiration rate was determined by filtering PPG and analyzing its spectrum. Optimal filter of PPG has been selected to get respiration by testing 120 sets of experiment data using 700 filtering cases. As a result, 2nd order Bessel-filter that used band-pass cutoff frequency at 0.175~0.4Hz with second order was good at developing respiration signal. Respiration signal in time domain could be continuously analyzed by converting frequency domain using spectrum analysis. 24 seconds has been found to be optimal time duration of collecting PPG data for determining respiration. Therefore, this study was successful of getting not only heart activity but also respiration by only PPG. Minimal invasive measurement obtaining multi-bio information by one sensor can be expected to apply to U-Health Care and human computer interaction.

  • Most wearable system for mobile healthcare applications consists of three parts. The first part is the sensing elements based on bio-signal, the second is the circuit module for control, data acquisition and wireless communication and control and the third is garment with a built-in electrodes and circuits. The existing healthcare garment systems have to find a solution to signal-wire and uncomfortable and inappropriate electrode to long-term attachment. Even if the wireless communication is used for healthcare garment system, the interface between sensors and circuits have to use wires. To solve these problems, this paper use electrode using PEDOT coated PVDF nanoweb for ECG signal and PVDF film sensor for respiratory signal. And, we constructed garment network using digital yarn of 10um, and transmitted ECG and respiratory signal to mobile phone through the integrated circuit with bluetooth called station To evaluate feasibility of the proposed mobile healthcare garment system, we experimented with transmission and measurement of ECG and respiratory signal using nanoweb electrode and digital yarn. We got a successful result without noise and attenuation.
