To study the regulatory expression mechanism of soybean glycinin gone, Gy2, the 5' upstream region of the gene was searched for the presence of putative regulatory elements by nucleotide sequencing. It revealed various kinds of regulatory sequence elements commonly found in plant storage protein genes. There were canonical promoter sequences, TATA box (TATAAT) and AGGA box (GAAT) which are common in the 5' upstream region of the plant genes. The embryo factor binding sequence, RY repeat, CACA sequences, ${\alpha}$-conglycinin enhancer-like sequences were also found. To delineate the function of these sequences, 5' upstream deletion mutants of Gy2 were prepared and fused to the ${\alpha}$-glucuronidase (GUS) gene. Each chimeric construct was transferred into soybean protoplasts for transient assay, which led to the identification of the sequences between -281 and -223, -170 and -122, of Gy2 promoter as negative regulatory elements, and the sequences between -223 and -170, -122 and -16 as positive regulatory elements. These results are consistent in transformed tobacco plants as well. The serially deleted promoter fragments fused to the GUS were transformed into Nicotiana tabacum by Agrobacterium tumefaciens using the binary vector system. GUS activity of Gy2 promoter deletion constructs was detected only in seeds but not in leaves with different levels of expression as in transient assay. These results suggest that the glycinin Gy2 promoter drives a tissue-specific expression in transgenic tobacco plants.

The full-length sequence of a new isolate of Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV) from Korea was divergent, but most closely related to the Japanese isolate A4, at 84% nucleotide identity. The full-length cDNA of the Korean isolate of ACLSV was cloned into a binary vector downstream of the bacteriophage T7 RNA promoter and the Cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter. Chenopodium quinoa was successfully infected using in vitro transcripts synthesized using the T7 promoter, detected at 20 days post inoculation (dpi), but did not produce obvious symptoms. Nicotiana occidentalis and C. quinoa were inoculated through agroinfiltration. At 32 dpi the infection rate was evaluated; no C. quinoa plants were infected by agroinfiltration, but infection of N. occidentalis was obtained.

In this study, an optimization process design has been performed to separate 99.9 mol% of Isobutyl Acetate from binary azeotropic mixture of Isobutyl Acetate and Isobutyl Alcohol system using a Pressure Swing Distillation (PSD). PSD is used to separate binary azeotropic mixtures using the difference between the relative volatilities and azeotropic compositions by changing the system pressure. Non-Random Two Liquid (NRTL) model for liquid phase and the Peng-Robinson equation for vapor phase are used. An optimization study for the reflux ratio and feed stage locations which minimize the total reboiler heat duties are studied. Since PSD process consists of two columns, i.e. high pressure and low pressure, the effect of column sequence on the optimum conditions is reported.
EL CVn-type eclipsing binaries are composed of a massive A-type main-sequence primary star and a hotter B-type secondary one. These are worthy of particular attention because the secondary stars are rare objects to be extremely low-mass white dwarf precursors (ELM proto-WD) with the mass of ${\leq}0.2M_{\odot}$, evolving to higher effective temperatures and higher surface gravities. A few of them were discovered to show multi-periodic pulsations in one or both components. We monitored one of these rare and interesting objects, J0247-25 (=1SWASP J024743.37-251549.2), at two KMTNet sites of SAAO in South Africa and SSO in Australia. The observations were performed with the KMTNet 1.6m telescopes and pre-science 4K CCD cameras during the system test run from July to November 2014. Using the photometric data obtained for a total of 23 nights, we constructed well-defined eclipsing light curves in B/V-bands and derived absolute parameters (mass and radius, etc.) of each binary component. After subtracting model eclipsing curves from the data, we detected seven frequencies with 33~53 cycles per day (c/d) and identified them to be Delta Sct-type pulsations originated from the A-type primary component. Five frequencies were turned out to be excited by rotational splitting of non-radial pressure modes, enabled us to investigate rotational properties. We could not detect any frequency higher than 100 c/d, implying that pulsation amplitudes of the proto-WD secondary decrease greatly.
Viscosity data were measured at 298.15 K and 308.15 K for formamide + 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol or 2-methyl-2-propanol mixtures. For an equimolar mixture, deviation in viscosity follows the sequence: 2-methyl-2-propanol >2-methyl-1-propanol>1-butanol>2-propanol>1-propanol. The viscosity data were further analyzed in terms of graph theory. Free energy of activation was also calculated from experimental viscosity data along with previously reported excess volume data. The deviation in viscosity and free energy of activation were fitted to Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The viscosity data were also correlated by correlations like Grunberg-Nissan, Tamura-Kurata, HindMcLaughlin-Ubbelohde, and Katti-Chaudhari relation. Various adjustable parameters, $G_{12}$, $T_{12}$, $H_{12}$, and $W_{vis}/RT$, of various correlations were used to predict viscosity deviation of binary mixtures. Positive value of $G_{12}$ indicates strong interaction in the studied systems. Grunberg-Nissan relation has lowest deviation among the four correlations for formamide + 1-propanol or 2-propanol mixtures; and for mixtures of formamide with 1-butanol or 2-methyl-1-propanol, TamuraKurata has lowest deviation. Grunberg-Nissan gives lowest deviation for formamide + 2-methyl-2-propanol mixtures.

In this paper, we propose a new selected mapping (SLM) scheme for reducing peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals modulated with quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), called amplitude and phase variant SLM (APSLM). Contrary to the conventional SLM which rotates the phases of QAM symbols in the frequency domain, the proposed scheme changes the magnitudes as well as the phases of QAM symbols by applying binary sequences to the binary data sequence before mapped to QAM symbols. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better PAPR reduction performance than the conventional SLM scheme for the QAM modulated OFDM signals, especially for the small number of subcarriers.

An effective video watermarking algorithm is proposed to protect the copyright. The watermarking procedure is based on a three-dimensional discrete wavelet transform (3D DWT) and spread spectrum sequences. Two perceptual binary watermarks are preprocessed using mixing and pseudorandom permutation. After dividing the video sequence into video shots, the 3D DWT is performed, then the preprocessed watermarks are embedded into the 3D DWT coefficients, while considering robustness and invisibility, using two spread spectrum sequences defined as the user key. Experimental results show that the watermarked frames are subjectively indistinguishable from the original frames, plus the proposed video watermarking algorithm is sufficiently robust against such attacks as low pass filtering, frame dropping, frame average, and MPEG coding.

In this paper, we propose an efficient hyperplane generation technique to classify human activity from combination of events and sequence information obtained from multiple-event sensors. By generating hyperplane efficiently, our machine learning algorithm classify with less memory and run time than the LSVM (Linear Support Vector Machine) for embedded system. Because the fact that light weight and high speed algorithm is one of the most critical issue in the IoT, the study can be applied to smart home to predict human activity and provide related services. Our approach is based on reducing numbers of hyperplanes and utilizing robust string comparing algorithm. The proposed method results in reduction of memory consumption compared to the conventional ML (Machine Learning) algorithms; 252 times to LSVM and 34,033 times to LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), although accuracy is decreased slightly. Thus our method showed outstanding performance on accuracy per hyperplane; 240 times to LSVM and 30,520 times to LSTM. The binarized image is then divided into groups, where each groups are converted to binary number, in order to reduce the number of comparison done in runtime process. The binary numbers are then converted to string. The test data is evaluated by converting to string and measuring similarity between hyperplanes using Levenshtein algorithm, which is a robust dynamic string comparing algorithm. This technique reduces runtime and enables the proposed algorithm to become 27% faster than LSVM, and 90% faster than LSTM.

A lot of sensor and control signals is generated by an industrial controller and related internet-of-things in discrete manufacturing system. The acquired signals are such records indicating whether several process operations have been correctly conducted or not in the system, therefore they are usually composed of binary numbers. For example, once a certain sensor turns on, the corresponding value is changed from 0 to 1, and it means the process is finished the previous operation and ready to conduct next operation. If an actuator starts to move, the corresponding value is changed from 0 to 1 and it indicates the corresponding operation is been conducting. Because traditional fault detection approaches are generally conducted with analog sensor signals and the signals show stationary during normal operation states, it is not simple to identify whether the manufacturing process works properly via conventional fault detection methods. However, digital control signals collected from a programmable logic controller continuously vary during normal process operation in order to show inherent sequence information which indicates the conducting operation tasks. Therefore, in this research, it is proposed to a recurrent neural network-based fault detection approach for considering sequential patterns in normal states of the manufacturing process. Using the constructed long short-term memory based fault detection, it is possible to predict the next control signals and detect faulty states by compared the predicted and real control signals in real-time. We validated and verified the proposed fault detection methods using digital control signals which are collected from a laser marking process, and the method provide good detection performance only using binary values.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is mainly believed to be a close binary system of acarbon-oxygen white dwarf (CO WD) and non-degenerate companion (single degenerate) or another WD (double degenerate). However, it is unclear which system is more prevalent. Here, we present a high cadence optical/Near-IR light curve of normal but slightly faint type Ia SN 2019ein from IMSNG project. We fit the early light curve (t <+8.3 days from the first detection) with various models to find the shock-heated cooling emission from SN ejecta-companion interaction. No significant shock-heated cooling emission is found, from which we constrain the progenitor star size as the following. The upper limit (Rupper,*) of the companion size in R-band is ~0.2R⊙ when forcing the first light time (tfl) to have one value and ~0.9R⊙ when using the mean value of tfl from the fitting in each band. Assuming the source of the I-band curve is almost powered from the radioactive decay, we obtained Rupper,*~1.2R⊙. The early B-V color curve is in agreement with the model color curve of the 2M⊙ main sequence companion. These results allow us to at least rule out large stars like red giants as a companion star of the binary progenitor system of this supernova. B-R and V-R color do not show any significant signs of a red bump, which shows a thin helium shell (MHe<0.1M⊙) for the sub-Mch WD (double detonation model). In addition, we estimated the distance to NGC 5353 as 37.098±0.028Mpc.
