Present case report describes a case of bifid ureter arising directly from separate calyces and renal pelvis of the kidney. Incomplete ureter duplication on the left side in a 78-year-old male cadaver was found during an anatomy class. These ureters converged in a Y-shaped pattern just above the level of the anterior superior iliac spine. In the coronal section of the kidney, the anterior ureter arose from a renal pelvis that was divided into two major calyces in the lower two-thirds of the kidney. On the other hand, the posterior ureter was directly connected to a major calyx in the upper third of the kidney, without the formation of a renal pelvis. This anatomical variation has implications for diagnostic approaches, especially in the use of imaging techniques by urologists for the insertion of stents in the treatment of phyelonephritis.

Introduction: In this case report, we addressed the effects of a Korean medicine treatment on recurrent pyelonephritis in a female patient with a duplicated collecting system. Case report: A 22-year-old female with acute pyelonephritis was treated with Korean medicine, including herbal medication, Insampaedok-san plus Oryeong-san, and with antibiotic therapy. We evaluated the improvements in her symptoms by measuring C-reactive protein, WBC count, body temperature, and a numeric rating scale for nausea. The symptoms of fever and nausea improved after two days of hospitalization. From the 4th day of taking the herbal medicine, the antibiotic IV infusion was changed to oral agents. Conclusions: This clinical case study suggests that modified Insampaedok-san might have shortened the duration of intravenous antibiotic infusion and hospitalization for recurrent pyelonephritis in a female patient with a bifid ureter.

Hypospadias is a malformation in which the urethra open on the ventral side of the penis and its frequency is about from 0.3% to 0.5% male birth in human. It is considered a disorder both genetic and environmental factors involves in pathogenesis. A KNC(Korean native calf) showing symptoms of fusion defect of the male ventral urethra, penile defect, bifid scrotum and low body weigh was born. To prevent an ascending urinary tract infection, dermatitis and loss of hair, surgical operation was performed to make a genitals like a female. After the operation, the KNC got a regenerative hair and normal urination. However the KNC became anorexia, loss in weight and weak. Seventy days after birth, the KNC died. The view of autopsy was a yellowish hepatomegaly, hydronephrosis, closed ureter and complex disorder in interanl organ. The symptoms of hepatomegaly and hydronephrosis could be due to a fluid therapy as a consequence of ureter obstruction. The normal urination of the KNC before it got sick, suggested that ureter obstruction in the case of this KNC was formed at its postnatal growth stage.
