오메가형 벨로즈관의 성형을 위한 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis for Forming Processes of $\Omega$-type Bellows Tube)

  • The study presents an computer-aided analysis and its design for the forming process of $\Omega$-type bellows tube. Finite element analysis was carried out to perform the process simulation. Based on the analytic results of various conditions, the forming conditions used for angled U-type bellows tube were settled. The 3D modeling was constructed by I-DEAS and PAM-STAMP was used for process simulation. It is concluded that the spring back of formed bellows influences $\Omega$-shape and these results can be used for the process design.

  • 자동차 배기계는 제한된 설치 공간으로 인하여 내구성과 연계된 형상을 최적화하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 자동차 배기계를 구성하고 있는 Flexible Tube(Bellows)의 형상에 따른 응력 변화를 해석하였다. 아울러 Bellows의 변위량이 크게 발생하는 것을 고려하여 기하학적 비선형 해석을 실시하였으며 Bellows의 변형량은 끝단에서 6mm의 변위가 발생하도록 하였으며 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) Bellows의 두께가 증가하거나 Bellows Tube의 반경이 증가하면 Von-Mises 응력은 비례적으로 증가한다. (2) Bellows의 주름의 반경이 증가함에 따라 주 응력이 감소하다가 증가함으로 Bellows 설계 시 최소 응력 산출을 위한 주름 반경의 선정이 요구된다.

  • The manufacturing of metal bellows consists of the four main forming processes, deep-drawing, ironing, tube bulging and folding. Among these, the bulging and folding processes are critically important because the quality of metal bellows is greatly influenced by the forming conditions of these processes. In the present study, the finite element analysis technique is applied to the bulging and folding processes to obtain information about the design parameters of a metal bellows.

정밀 금속 벨로우즈 성형 및 스프링백 해석 (Study on the Forming and Springback Analyses of a Precision Metal Bellows)

  • The manufacturing of a metal bellows consists of the four main forming processes; deep-drawing, ironing, tube bulging and folding. Among these, the bulging and folding processes are critically important because the quality of metal bellows is greatly influenced by the forming conditions of these processes. In the present study, the finite element analysis technique is applied to the bulging and folding processes. The springback analysis is also called out. From the analysis results, it has been revealed that around the crown point the stress state is in one-directional tension and one-directional bending mode. Meanwhile, around the inner point of metal bellows it is in two-directional bending mode. It has also revealed that the thickness of metal bellows around the crown point is nearly uniform.

  • The study presents a computer-aided analysis and its design for the forming process of .OMEGA. -type bellows tubes. Finite element analysis was carried out to perform the process simulation. Bsed on the analytic results of various conditions, the forming conditions used for angled U-type bellows tubes were determined. The 3-D modeling was constructed by I-DEAS and the process simulation was constructed by PAM- STAMP. It is concluded that the difference of height between die and bellows during the forming process causes a non-uniform shape of the bellows and also influences .OMEGA. -shape. These results can be utilized for the process design.

  • In order to assess the reliability of the exhaust bellows for automobiles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows; i) the main failure mechanism is crack or breakage of inner flexible tube by shaken displacement at shear direction. ii) temperature is a second factor to affect a failure. iii) the life distribution of exhaust bellows is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the shape parameter is 13.3 on condition of shaken displacement and $600^{\circ}C$

공기압 근육 구동기의 유한요소 해석 및 성능시험 (Performance Test and Finite Element Analysis of Pneumatic Muscle Actuator)

  • The pneumatic muscle actuator consists of an air bellows tube with two end-flanges. The air bellows tube is made from rubber layers and flexible sheathing formed from nylon 6 fibers. This structure can be stretched or compressed to convert the radial expansive forces into contractile forces. We performed the finite element analysis and the performance test of pneumatic muscle actuator. Also, the pneumatic muscle actuator was manufactured and tested by home-made tester. The results of FEA was similar with performance test below the maximum error of 42 %.

  • 자동차 배기계는 제한된 설치 공간으로 인하여 내구성과 연계된 형상을 최적화하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 자동차 배기계를 구성하고 있는 Flexible Tube(Bellows)의 형상에 따른 응력 변화를 해석하였다. 응력 해석은 유한요소법을 이용하였고, 해석에는 8절점 쉘 요소를 사용하였으며 절점수는 100,000 정도이다. 아울러 Bellows의 변위량이 크게 발생하는 것을 고려하여 기하학적 비선형 해석을 실시하였으며 Bellows의 변형량은 끝단에서 6mm의 변위가 발생하도록 하였다.

  • A bumper comprises a bumper face, a bumper beam for distributing the load from the impacts applied to the bumper face and reinforcing the bumper, an absorber member interposed between the bumper face and the bumper beam, and a pair of bumper stays which secure the bumper beam to the vehicle body. A conventional bumper stay structure is assembled into several stamped parts, so several processes are needed and the structure is complicated. In this study the bumper stay is applied to the tubular hydroforming which is known to have several advantages such as the reduction of the number of the process and the part weight. The thickness distribution of the tube is mainly considered to evaluate the hydro-formability and the shape of the tube is determined.
