A study on modeling of medium temperature drops of the elevated-bench hydroponic system for strawberry cultivation during low temperature season was conducted. Four different conditions were used for the experiment. These consisted of two kinds of bed types (plant, V), four kinds of medium (rice, perlite, rice hulls80% and peatmoss20%, perlite80% and peatmoss20%), two kinds of mulched bed (mulched, non mulched) and four kinds of greenhouse air temperature (l.5, 3.2, 5.0, $6.7^{\circ}C$), and the results were summarized as follows: Temperature drop of medium in the V-bed was slower than that in the plant bed, showing better insulation effect of V-bed. Temperature drop of medium with mulching on the top of the bed was slower than the case without mulching, as a result, the beneficial effect of temperature drop was appeared in mulched bed. Linear regression of the temperature descent rate and the temperature difference between medium and air showed significant correlation. The regression equation for the Pearlite80% and Peatmoss20% in the V-bed was f(x) = -0.2656 + 0.1345x at the $R^2$ of 0.9269. Using the model, the temperature drop during night can be predicted for the various media at the different depths.
This study was conducted to perform for comparative analysis of the cleaning efficiency on 3 kinds of cleaning liquid state, 3 steps of cleaning temperature $(45^{\circ}C,\;60^{\circ}C,\;70^{\circ}C,\;)$ and 6 steps of cleaning time (2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 minute). 3 kinds of cleaning liquid state are the non fluidized bed, liquid fluidized bed and liquid/solid fluidized bed. UV spectrophotometer was used in estimation of cleaning efficiency, which it is experimental equipment using the absorptiometric analysis method. Cleaning efficiency by cleaning time was increase from 2.5 minutes to 15 minutes, liquid/siolid fluidized bed was indicated the highest cleaning efficiency among the 3 kinds of cleaning liquid state and $70^{\circ}C$ of cleaning temperature at liquid/solid fluidized bed was indicated the highest cleaning efficiency as 98% among the 3 steps of cleaning temperature.
To develope chemical heat pump using available energy sources, solar heat and other kinds of waste thermal energy, we have studied the heat transfer rate in cylindrical bed reactor packed with calcined Dolomite. Two dimensional (radial and circumferential) Partial differential equations, concerning heat and mass transfer in packed bed of calcined Dolomite, are solved numerically to describe the characteristics of the reaction of calcined Dolomite and heat transfer. The results obtained by numerical analysis about two dimensional profiles of temperature and conversion of reactant in the packed bed reactor and the amount of exothermic heat released from the reactor are follows. It was found that all of calcined Dolomite packed bed kept the reaction temperature of about 750K throughout the entire part of the bed, immediately after the steam was introduced exothermic reaction of hydration was proceeded from the packed bed inpu to output and from wall side to center. The rate of thermochemical reaction depends on the temperature and concentration and it is also governed by the boundary conditions and heat transfer rate in the particle packed bed.

Experimental Study was carried out for benzene desorption by purge gas or evacuation in an activated carbon bed. As purge gas flow rate increased, desorption rate increased due to the higher interstitial linear gas velocity. For various purge gas flow rates, desoption curves almost got together if they were plotted against dimensionless time. At a higher flow rate, mass transfer zone became narrower. Temperature drop in the bed was more fast and severe at higher flow rates and higher outer temperature. It was found out that desorption was almost completed when the temperature in the drop of the bed returned to the initial temperature before temperature drop. Desorption by vacuum purge was completed in shorter time than desorption by purge gas. Countercurrent purge was more effective than cocurrent purge.
The objective of present work is to investigate experimentally the characteristics of heat transfer. A fluidized bed combustion has advantages of pollution control, fuel flexibility and excellent heat transfer. The present study investigates fundamental phenomena of bed-to-surface heat transfer in high temperature fluidized beds to improve design of immersed tube surface. The tested operating variables are bed temperature, supeficial velocity, mean size of bed material, and the rake angle of fin. Generally, heat transfer rates between the fluidized bed and immersed finned-tube are much higher than those of a smooth tube. A life time of finned-tube is generally longer than that of smooth tube.
In this study, a product gas yield and carbon conversion were measured during the coal pyrolysis. The pyrolysis process occurred under two different atmospheres such as subcritical (45 bar, 10℃) and supercritical CO2 condition (80 bar, 35℃). Under the same pressure (80 bar), the atmosphere temperature increased from 35℃ to 45℃ to further examine temperature effect on the pyrolysis at supercritical CO2 condition. For all three cases, a power input supplied to heating wire placed below coal bed was controlled to make coal bed temperature constant. The phase change of CO2 atmosphere and subsequent pyrolysis behaviors of coal bed were observed using high-resolution camcorder. The pressure and temperature in the reactor were controlled by a CO2 pump and heater. Then, the coal bed was heated by wire heater to proceed the pyrolysis under supercritical CO2 condition.
We have studied that the prediction of desulfurization efficiency by limestone in fluidized-bed coal combustor. The results were presented as follows : Firstly, the bed temperature had a great deal of effect on the desulfurization and the optimum temperature of limestone was 85$0^{\circ}C$~90$0^{\circ}C$. Secondly, as the velocity and temperature increased, $K_{s}$, K and the desulfurization efficiency increased. So, $k_{s}$, $k_{d}$ highly depended on the air velocity and bed temperature, and $k_{s}$, $k_{d}$ were 82.53 mm/sec, 0.0041/sec at 0.2 m/sec, 85$0^{\circ}C$, $k_{s}$, $k_{d}$ were 125.62 mm/sec. 0.00532/sec at 0.3 m/sec, 80$0^{\circ}C$ respectively. And $k_{s}$, $k_{d}$ were 143.78 mm/sec, 0.00568/sec at 0.3 m/sec, 85$0^{\circ}C$. Thirdly, as a result of desulfurization modeling, there was good agreement between theory and experiments as anthracite fraction increased. At 3.0 of optimum Ca/S molar ratio, there was very good agreement between theory and experiments.riments.riments.s.

Silver is widely used for catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, but start-up at room temperature is difficult and cannot withstand at high temperature. In this paper, to overcome these short-comings, a dual catalytic bed which consists of a vaporizer catalyst and a high temperature catalyst was studied. Platinum was selected as the vaporizer catalyst and perovskite type catalyst was selected for the high temperature catalyst. Preliminary test demonstrated start-up capability with non-preheating at room temperature and good thermal stability at high temperature.

The purpose of this study were to investigate the bed climate and the physiological responses in sleep on the traditional Korean floor heating system called Ondol. Ondol has been the most widely used heating system in Korea, yet there has been a no systematic studies examined its environmental effects on human body. Experimental room was constructed to match the typical thermal environment of Ondol. (floor surface temperature; $32\~33^{\circ}C$, air temperature; $22.5{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$, relative humidity; $64.0{\pm}4.0\%$RH, air velocity; 0.25 m/sec.) Three different combinations of bedclothes were chosen for the experiment based on the study results showing that they were the most widely used types in Korea. Type 1 was the combination of a cotton-padded mattress with a cotton-padded Korean style blanket. Type 2 was a cotton-padded mattress with a cotton-guilted Korean style blanket. Type 3 was a cotton-padded matless with a polyacryl blanket. Thermal resistance of each of these combina-tions in the bedclothes was measured using thermal manikin. Two adult female was chosen for the seven hour sleeping experiment which was known to be the average sleeping hours of Korean adult female. The bed climate was measured with the temperature under the mattress, the surface temper-ature of the mattress, and the air temperature and the relative humidity of the space between the mattress and blanket. The skin temperature, rectal temperature of the subjects and the bed climate were measured eight times, one hour before the experiment and every hour during the experiment. The weight loss and the subjective sensation were measured for the each subjects before and after the experiment. The procedure was repeated twice with two subjects and three types of bedclothes, yielding twelve combinations of results. The results were as follows; 1. With the surface temperature of $32\~33^{\circ}C$ of Ondol, air temperature was $22.5{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$ with $64.0{\pm}4.0\%$ RH. The bed climates were $39.2{\pm}40.8^{\circ}C$ under the mattress, $35.3\~36.2^{\circ}C$ on the mattress, and $26.9\~32.0^{\circ}C$ with $56.0\~71.3\%$ RH between the mattress and the blanket. 2. Mean skim temperature during sleep was 34.2"C with local skin temperature of $34.0\~35.5^{\circ}C$. The skin temperatures of abdomen, thigh, foot were higher than the other parts of the body. 3. The skin temperature of chest, thigh, leg and back varied significantly according to the combinations of bedclothes. With the cotton-padded blanket, the skin temperature was the highest, while with the cotton-guilted blanket showed lowest. 4. Examining the relationship between the mean skin temperature and the local skin temper-ature, the chest temperature showed the highest correlation with the former. Therefore, the chest temperature can be recommended to represent the skin temperature in measuring the bed climate. 5. The subjective bed climates were $39.0\~40.4^{\circ}C$ under the mattress, $35.2\~35.9^{\circ}C$ on the mattress, $29.8\~31.6^{\circ}C$ with $56.8\~68.4\%$ RH between the mattress and blanket. In sum, from this experiment we not only obtained the reliable value of bed climates on Ondol, but also showed that the bed climates and the physiological responses were affected differently according to the materials of bed clothes.
In the present work, the numerical model was refined to predict the thermal analysis of energy storage in a fixed beds during (charging ,storing, discharging) mode. The governing energy equations of both fluid and the solid particles along with their initial and boundary conditions are derived using a two-phase, one dimensional model. The refined model is carried out by taking into account change of (air density , air specific heat) with air temperature and also by taking into considerations heat losses from bed to surrounding. Finite difference method was used to obtain solution of two governing energy equations of both fluid and solid particles through a computer program especially constructed for this purpose. The temperature field for the air and the solid are obtained, also efficiency of energy stored inside the bed is computed. Finally using refined model the effect of air flow rate per unit area Ga (0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 kg/$m^2$-s), and inlet air temperature (200, 250, 300 $^{\circ}C$) on energy storage characteristics was studied in three mode ( charging ,storing, discharging). The rock particles of diameter 1 em is used as bed material in this research.
