A Comparative Study of Korean and Australian Women's Hair Care Behavior (한국과 호주여성의 모발관리행동 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare hair care behaviors between Korean and Australian women whose individual hair characteristics, social backgrounds, and culture were different from each other. Then, this study also aims to provide some basic data for professionals in the field of beauty education and industry. Data were collected through a survey with 208 Australian females and 392 Korean females. Analyses included t-test, frequency analysis, and one-way ANOVA. The results are as follows: The Korean women mostly had black and brown natural hair, and 68.4% of them had color. On the other hand, the Australian surveyees had brown and dark blonde, and 85.4% of them had color. They both were asked why they were using hair products. The Koreans responded that they were for hair moisturization, while the Australians said they were for producing a hair style they wanted. In addition, the Koreans made the most use of a hair conditioner and hair wax, while the Australian women did a hair spray and gloss. As far as the satisfaction with beauty salon service goes, the Australian respondents showed more service satisfaction than the Koreans on average. The homogeneity of the two nations' average points was t-tested. The result indicated that significant differences existed in the hair shop satisfaction with services, such as dyeing, haircut, blow dry, shampooing and massaging, and staff attitudes.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop voluntary learning (talent donation) program as a liberal art lecture for students in G university to cultivate consideration towards others and community life. The title of the liberal education course that was developed was decided as "Beauty Talent Donation". The course objectives were to develop consideration for others and sociality required for community life as well as foster awareness of sharing and develop creative leaders equipped with outstanding characters through cosmetology voluntary service associated education. The final development of education contents were completed over 3 stages including preparation, development, and supplemented development and the major components consist of understanding talent donation, beauty theories, and beauty skills. For the assessment of the learners, absolute evaluation was applied so that personal goals can be achieved through the course instead of evaluating learners' learning capabilities with relative evaluation. Accordingly, a pass or fail system was designed. The beneficiary institution of talent donation was selected based on the following conditions. It is located within a short distance from the educational institution, walking distance for the learners, easy to recruit subjects to receive the support, and accurately understands the purpose of the lecture and willing to cooperate.

  • Part of public arts, environmental sculpture not only enhance the beauty of a building, but also a landmark having intimate values with the city environment and symbolic meanings. 'Space storytelling' is not only a connecting bridge between the space and human, but also plays a role in promoting creation of story like a catalyst. Storytelling is expanding to many related industries and one of which is artistic structure, and the storytelling of residental space is getting widely applied to establish the competitive superiority. The purpose of this study involves logically examination the service deliver process of space storytelling based on the residential space. And this study expected to research the influencing factors about purchase and service delivery process of artistic structure.

  • Conventions play important roles as tools for effective marketing. It will be able to understand the changes of particular industry's market, develop a new market and potential clients, and get a chance such as strategic network constructing. To support effective viewing of visitors, conventions have introduced a variety of ubiquitous computing technologies. This study introduces a case of applying the Utility Tag-based convention service system at the Cosmetics & Beauty Expo, Osong Korea 2013. The Utility Tag-based convention service system is constructed total three systems: (1) NFC Tag Management System; allowing effective access and management of NFC tags in various locations and objects, (2) Information Provide System; allowing participating vendors to manage information they want to provide information to visitors, and (3) Utility Tags; providing a variety of service to visitors for effective viewing in exhibition/convention space. This study first explores literature review and applying case related to ubiquitous computing in this field and introduces Applying an Utility Tag-based convention service system. In addition, we analyze visitors' behaviors and association rules by take advantage of collected touch data, present various possible for applications of the Utility Tag-based convention service system.

  • Purpose: This study is as only basic research for the model Development of the New-Hanok Type Service Facilities in Apartment Housing, which is as a decisive factor used as a planning element for developing the model inherited tradition, There aimed at extracting the genetic factor of Korea's traditional architecture. Method: For this purpose, Consider the concept and regulations of the New-Hanok Type Service Facilities in Apartment Housing and examined the Domestic Application Status of the New-Hanok Type Service Facilities in Apartment Housing. It sets direction of the New-Hanok Type models development based on Expert advice and the literature, and was reviewed a primal reason system of Korea as an extraction base of genetic factors. Result: Then Through the framework of the vertical axis (the form), the horizontal axis (space), It extracted the genetic factors of the Korea Traditional Architecture, classified the genetic factors extracted as the structure(layout, construction, space), features, traditional beauty, investigated the content of the form representation and spatial meaning, and were characterized. Based on the result, It were comprehensive the genetic factors extracted as plan Elements for inheriting of the traditions.

An Impact of Skin Care Service Quality on Perceived Reciprocity and Long-term Relationship Orientation (피부미용 서비스품질이 호혜성지각·장기적 관계지향에 미치는 영향)

  • With the increasing number of skin care shops, service quality development that can meet the customer needs is needed to obtain differentiated competitive advantage. Accordingly this study was attempted to provide basic data on marketing necessary for operating a skin care shop by identifying the impact of service quality on perceived reciprocity and long-term relationship orientation among the customers using a skin care shop. This study conducted a survey of 290 female customers using skin care shops located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, Jeollanamdo and Jeollabukdo, and Gyeongsangnamdo and Gyeongsangbukdo through personal visit, e-mail, and post service, and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS Ver. 18.0 and Amos Ver. 18.0. As a result, it was proven that overall goodness-of-fit to the theoretical model of the research hypotheses set in this study is good. In Hypothesis 1, "Skin care specialist's work ability, facility and sanitation, and care products had a significant positive (+) impact on perceived reciprocity," which was partially adopted. In Hypothesis 2, "Skin care specialist's work ability, care products, and devices and tools had a significant positive (+) impact on long-term relationship orientation," which was adopted. In Hypothesis 3, "Perceived reciprocity had a significant positive (+) impact on long-term relationship orientation," which was adopted. Therefore, it can be concluded that skin care specialist's work ability, facility and sanitation, care products, and devices and tools are the service quality elements for allowing customers to feel thankful or encouraging them to visit the skin care shops continuously.

  • The beauty industry of today tends to gradually develope as one of the important marketing strategies along with the total fashion sector. Hair color, being one of the factors of hair style, especially builds his or her own image and even becomes the nonverbal communication method which let others know him/herself. Therefore, women's needs and expectations of hair coloring are varied. To meet these need, it is urgent to figure out, most of all, the status of customers' awareness about hair coloring. Thus, in this study, research and analysis on hair coloring were made, focusing on the women utilizing 20 beauty shops in Changwon city. And the goal that this study set is to use as the study material for the hair coloring consulting in the beauty industry and the basic data for marketing in the industry job-sites. The conclusion by the three factors(age, job, monthly income) were as follows: 1. Dandyism was on the 1st order in the reason for coloring hair regardless of age, job, and monthly income. This seems to be speaking for the change of women's awareness of coloring hair. 2. The subject of making decision upon whether she was going to color her hair or not was herself regardless of age, job, and monthly income. Among the people belong to these three factors, brown was the color in overall preference. 3. More than half of those who belong to the three factors were not aware of the hair color, but their senses and interest in the color in vogue were high. 4. In terms of the hair coloring periodic time, many people had $2{\sim}3$months, but it was possible to know that they were interested in improving their images, considering the fact that most of the salaried people had their hair dyed within a month and the people in service job over a month. 5. The acquaintance around me had the strongest effect in collecting information from the people in those three factors and mass media was the next. The results of this study, in my opinion, would help the customers have beautiful and healthy hair and make images of their own by making the hair designers develope professional knowledges and skills on the hair coloring and improve the quality of beauty services.

Beauty Shop Workers' Views of Job (미용사의 직무만족도와 직업관)

  • This study was conducted to examine beauty shop workers' views of job. Data were collected from the workers in Seoul, Daegu, Pohang, Junjoo, and Kimhae from June 1, 2000 to August 31, 2000. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. According to general characteristics of the subjects, 28,7% of them was female; 94.2% 'specialized in hair'; 46.4% 'below twenty nine years old'; 47.1% 'married'; 59.7% 'highschool graduate'; 33.9% 'worked for below three years'; 28.5% 'monthly income of five hundred thousand to nine hundred ninety thousand won'; 62.3% 'working for above twelve hours a day' ; 41.0% 'above five workers' ; 40.6% 'working in city'. 2. 54.8% of the respondents thought that they were in good health. 76.3% of them smoked and 54.8% drank. 62.8% of them did not exercise and 78.7% was under stress. 61.5% responded that they chose the job because of its possibility of professional vocation. 91.0% of them obtained the beauty skill from beauty schools. 3. Among the factors which influenced job satisfaction, 'stable job and life security' was highest(43.9%), while 'interest in the job and amount of pay' was lowest(3.2%). 'Personal ability and use of originality' was 19.4% and 'harmonious relationship with fellow workers' was 18.1%. 'Job environment' was 7.1% and 'harmonious relationship with higher workers' was 4.5%. 4. The level workers' view of job was $113.8{\pm}17.3$ points on the basis of 150 points. On the basis of 75 points, each item showed it points in order of self-development($22.3{\pm}3.8$), service for customers($20.1{\pm}3.1$), vocational mission($15.6{\pm}3.1$), harmony with the others($18.9{\pm}3.5$), working environment($18.6{\pm}3.6$), and working condition($14.3{\pm}5.1$). 5. Among the reasons why they considered leaving the job, 24.0% of them considered it because they could not free time, while 15.4% considered it because undesirable living environment or long distance from home. 15.0% thought it because they could not receive proper treatment as much as they worked and 12.8% thought they overworked. 6. When they move into new working places, they consider such factors as good working environment(24.1%), good place to open their own beauty shops(16.7%), good beauty shop to learn beauty skill(15.6%), chance to have job training(9.5%), and close place from home(9.0%). 7. 40.6% of the respondents wanted to leave the job, while 32.3% of them did not want to leave the job. The intention of leaving the displayed significant difference in the variables of age, working period, monthly income, marital status, the number of workers, location of the shop, rank, and reason of selecting the job. 8. According to the results of a regression analysis of factors which influenced job satisfaction, it was affected significantly by intention of leaving job, the number of workers, health condition, level of stress, and monthly income. The beauty shop workers showed low satisfaction level with working environment, working condition, and working mission, They considered leaving the job because of lack of free time, overwork, poor working environment, improper treatment, etc. Therefore, related professionals and organizations must device adequate measures in order to make them work with pride as creators of beauty.

A Study on the Correlation Between Satisfaction on a professional nail service and Hand Health Condition (전문 네일 서비스 이용 만족 인식과 손 건강 상태와의 상관관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the basement of nail industries and suggest a direction for the future of the specialized nail service. besides looks at characteristics of the aged 20's to 50's, who is expected as nail shop's main customers. The results of this study are briefly summarized as follows: First, the answer wanting professional hand care was more than half (53.3%). It turned out that customers prefer basic manicure such as hand massage(43.4%) and cuticle removal(31.1%) than nail art(15.2%) and nail improvement care(10.3%) in professional nail care. The basic manicure are in remarkably high demand which are often received with nail art and nail improvement care. There were more interests in nail services and better hand health condition in the 30's group than 40's. Also significantly higher in a unmarried group than married. this results show that professional hand care is highly related to a good condition of hands and additionally life satisfaction of customers. We were convinced of the direction of inner beauty and satisfaction beyond the visible. At the same time, exploring specific methods to internally satisfy customers remains to be a challenge.

  • This study is on the carving decoration which makes visual beauty and luxury mood upon serving foods to customers in the food service industry. It investigated 413 cooks working for hotels and luxury restaurants to examine how they recognize carving decoration. The purpose of this study is as follows. First, it examines the present condition of educating cooks about carving decoration. Next, for their general perception of carving decoration, it investigated the most popular field in which carving decoration is used, the types of carving decoration they want to learn most, and the types of business which need carving decoration most by the type of carving. The research result finds out that many cooks have much interest in carving decoration, and it seems that carving decoration is necessary when they are working. However, educational institutions they can learn the skills have not been established. This research shows its necessity in the education system with fundamental data.
