Design and Development of a Public Waste Battery Diagnostic Device

  • In this study, design of an intuitive internal resistance diagnostic device is to diagnose the residual capacity and aging of the battery regardless of the model and the internal protocol of the waste battery through the method of measuring the internal resistance of a waste battery. In this paper, charging and discharging were continuously performed with 2A charging and 5A discharging in order to secure data on impedance changes that may occur in the charging and discharging process of various methods. As a result of the final experiment, it was confirmed that the impedance change occurred during charging and discharging, and the amount of change increased as the charging/discharging C-rate increased. In addition, it was confirmed that the waste battery aged or abnormal cell had a large change in the impedance value.

  • This paper proposes buck-type charging method using motor inductance, 3-phase inverter and bi-directional converter without an additional charger in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The proposed system has advantages over the conventional system such as high charging efficiency, high power factor, and low total harmonic distortion. The validity of each methods are verified by theoretical analysis and simulation.

  • The battery charger for high speed trail car is very important power source for the purpose of safty and system stability. it provides control power of VVVF, CVCF, DC/DC converter and inverter for traction motor. This paper included power circuit of the ZVZCS type battery charger for high speed trail car and battery included power circuit of the ZVZCS type battery charger for high speed trail car and inverter for traction motor. This paper included power circuit of the ZVZCS type battery charger for high speed trail car an battery charging algorithm. Also the optimum parallel operation of 50Kw battery charger for high speed trail car and charging control method of Ni-Cd battery illustrates validity and effectiveness through the experiments.

독립형 하이브리드 가로등의 BESS 연구 (A Study on the BESS of Stand-alone Hybrid Streetlight)

  • In this paper, we study the BESS of a standalone hybrid street light. The proposed BESS proposed a BESS with the function of efficiently charging irregularly generated power from two or more generators. AC generated by wind power is converted to DC using an AC / DC converter and then to a voltage that can charge the battery through the DC / DC converter. The lack of voltage and current, which is a disadvantage of the MPPT method used in solar power generation, is compensated by the DC value of wind power generation. The compensation method is to convert the DC generated from solar power into a voltage suitable for charging the battery through a DC / DC converter, and then connect the DC generated in wind power in parallel to compensate for the insufficient current to charge the battery in a short time. Allow this to begin. By securing the maximum charging time, the usage time of the stand-alone hybrid street light is huge. Experimental results show that the battery has a short charging time and can be efficiently applied to battery-dependent standalone hybrid street lights.

A Study on the Charging and Diagnosis System of xEV Reusable Waste Battery

  • As the supply of xEV in Korea is rapidly increasing, the amount of waste batteries is expected to increase rapidly, but the current recycling system for waste xEV batteries is very insufficient. In order to properly utilize the xEV reusable battery module, it is essential to classify it into a type that has similar discharge characteristics to the current state of health(SOH), which is the discharge capacity of the battery. This paper proposes a system that can minimize the exchange of energy with the KEPCO system by using the charging/discharging method by circulating power between batteries in order to minimize the power consumption when charging and discharging waste batteries. In the proposed system, a function to measure parameters during the charging/discharging test of the waste battery was implemented to build a customized big date for the test waste battery. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the proposed circuit were analyzed using PSIM, which is useful for power electronics analysis, and the validity of the proposed circuit was verified through experiments.

  • 전기자동차 배터리 셀들 간의 불균형 충전 문제를 해결하기 위해, 직병렬 하이브리드 충전 구조를 개발하였다. 이 방법은 직렬 부분에 의해 주 충전이 수행되며 병렬 부분에 의해 밸런싱이 수행되는데, 이 때, 직렬 부분은 부피가 크고 무겁지만 병렬 부분은 직렬 부분보다 작고 가볍다. 개별 배터리 셀 전압을 측정하기 위한 센서 어레이, 듀티비 제어를 포함한 IGBT, 그리고 배터리 관리 시스템은 제안된 시스템의 핵심 요소이다.

  • Integrated switched reluctance motor drive as an electric vehicle battery charger is presented in this paper. The SRM, which is used as the traction power in the driving mode, is used in the charge circuit to improve the power factor of charging system. The charging circuit can share the power switches of the asymmetric converter and phase windings of SRM to charge the battery, and can reduce the size and cost of the system in the plug-in system. To keep the rotor at standstill, zero torque control method is proposed. Since the inductances of the SRM windings are not same at any stop position, the charger controller controls the reference current to satisfy the total charging current with PFC and zero torque condition. A novel cubic equation method is proposed as a current reference distributor of the charging controller. Simulations are performed by MATLAB software and results satisfy the Effectiveness of proposed battery charging system.

충전식 전원 모듈의 성능 개선에 대한 연구 (A Study on Performance Improvement of Rechargeable Power Modules)

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대용 전자기기에 널리 사용되고 있는 리튬-이온 충전용 전원 모듈에서 발열을 줄이면서 배터리의 충전 시간을 단축하기 위한 기법을 연구하였다. 제안하는 기법은 마스터 충전 모듈과 슬레이브 충전 모듈로 구성된 다중 충전 모듈을 이용하여 병렬적인 전류 경로를 구성하면서 단일 선로 통신 방식을 적용함으로써 추가적인 하드웨어를 최소화하여 충전 회로를 매우 간단하게 구성할 수 있도록 하였다. 마스터 충전 모듈과 슬레이브 충전 모듈 간의 단일 선로 통신 방식은 필요 부품의 핀 개수를 최소화하고 디지털 통신 방식을 사용하지 않고 전압 레벨을 이용한 통신 방식을 적용하였기 때문에 구현 면적이 줄어들고 비용적인 측면에서도 유리한 장점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안한 충전 기법은 고속의 충전을 필요로 하는 충전식 전원 모듈의 구현에 실용적으로 적용 가능할 것으로 기대한다.

친환경 버스 도입에 따른 경제성 분석에 관한 연구 (대구광역시 중심으로) (A Study on the Economic Analysis of Introducing Battery-Based Eco Bus: Case Study of Daegu City, South Korea)

  • Renewable energy sources has drawn considerable attention as clean energy sources because of changing public attitudes regarding greenhouse gas and fine dust. Recently, in this respect, the government provides the drivers of electric vehicles with various benefits such as tax reduction, financial incentives and free parking from the public to the private sector. Plug-in electric vehicles are the most common in the private sector. Otherwise, different types of battery-based buses in the public sector are being developed, and there are three main types of charging: plug-in, battery swapping and wireless. Therefore, economic assessment of charging types in each bus route is required in order to facilitate the use of battery-based buses instead of the existing CNG buses. In this paper, net present value(NPV) and B/C ratio of charging types are evaluated in consideration of the bus schedule, the cost of charging station, and the life cycle of battery, etc. per each bus route. In case study, main bus routes in Daegu City are simulated with the proposed evaluation method to validate the eco-bus project.

  • This paper proposes the battery charging algorithm for small-scale wind power generator using three phase PWM converter. it is impossible to control output power of the converter in over wind speed region since back EMF of PMSG is higer than battery voltage. Therefore, battery charging algorithm is proposed to expand battery charging over wind speed region. The suggested method is using the q-axis current for battery charging in the rated wind speed region. In the over wind speed region after it lower back EMF of PMSG using d-axis current it can control output power of the converter. The validity of the proposed algorithm are verified by experiments.
