  • In this study, a simple two-dimensional shear deformation model is employed for buckling analysis of functionally graded (FG) plates. The proposed theory has a kinematic with integral terms which considers the influence of shear deformation without using "shear correction factors". The impact of varying material properties and volume fraction of the constituent on buckling response of the FG plate is examined and discussed. The benefit of this theory over other contributions is that a number of variables is reduced. The basic equations that consider the influence of transverse shear stresses are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. The analytical solutions are obtained utilizing the "Navier method". The accuracy of the proposed theory is proved by comparisons with the different solutions found in the literature.

  • This paper suggests to predict the failure of helical gear extrusion die. The basic assumption that constitutes the frame-work for any combined stress failure theory is that failure is predicted to occur when the maximum value of stress becomes equal to or exceeds the value of the same modulus that produces failure in a simple uniaxial stress test using the same material. The stresses which were calculated to each critical points are applied maximum normal stress theory and distor-tion energy theory. The theroretical analysis and experimental results for Samanta process and New process dies were com-pared.

  • In this review, the author discussed how the Fresnel and Fraunhoffer Diffraction can be deduced from the Huygens-Fresnel principle and Kirchhoff Diffraction Theory. Fresnel diffraction became the basic theory of the CTEM image theory, and Fraunhoffer diffraction became the base for electron diffraction and HRTEM image theory by Fourier transformation. The author also discussed the diffraction based on Born series.

  • Treating genomes just as languages raises the possibility of producing concise generalizations about information in biological sequences. Grammars used in this way would constitute a model of underlying biological processes or structures, and that grammars may, in fact, serve as an appropriate tool for theory formation. The increasing number of biological sequences that have been yielded further highlights a growing need for developing grammatical systems in bioinformatics. The intent of this review is therefore to list some bibliographic references regarding the recent progresses in the field of grammatical modeling of biological sequences. This review will also contain some sections to briefly introduce basic knowledge about formal language theory, such as the Chomsky hierarchy, for non-experts in computational linguistics, and to provide some helpful pointers to start a deeper investigation into this field.

  • A 'TEXT' is a basic unit of culture. It is also the whole of culture organization which is generalizing a culture. Literary texts which are reflection of the culture could be understood as historical discourse. This thesis which is based on the 'Semiotic theory', 'Victor Turner's Performance theory', and Sung Man Lee's 'Information Model', classified the type of meaning to explain how to communicate the meaning of thing which were described in novels, for examples, background, dress, dialogue, era, etc. An interpreter (reader) should understand the culture described in novels to clarify the ambiguous significance. An interpretative theory of symbolic meaning described in text was presented in this thesis, and it was applied to analysis Myung Hee Choi's novel, 'Honbul'.

  • The diffusion theory for spin injection from magnetic layer into nonmagnetic layer was reviewed. Basic equations were derived and applied to a ferromagnet/semiconductor/ferromagnet system. The spin polarization and magnetoresistance were calculated. The reason for difficulty in detecting spin injection with magnetoresistance was explained, and a possible solution was discussed.

  • special subjects, from basic data-building to applied design itself, and from how-why studies to theory building research. It seems that the research concerns are mainly the explanation of the processes of design projects rather than the application and expression of design theory and conceptual work itself. The articles do not show a clear trend or design concerns that would lead landscape architecture firms or its market. A few articles deal with aesthetical theory and with design criticism that could be one of landscape design's fundamental theories. It is not enough to regard the Journal of the Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture as the main stream of contemporary Korean landscape design trends. More research in the field of landscape design need to focus on pre-research work rather than on post-work reports. More research work in the field of landscape aesthetics is also required. The format of the journal needs to be reformed to include more design research papers that are of a free-presentation style in nature.

  • A simple solution for free vibration of cross-ply and angle-ply laminated composite plates in a thermal environment is investigated using a basic trigonometric shear deformation theory. By application of trigonometric four variable plate theory, the transverse displacement is subdivided into bending and shear components, the present theory's number of unknowns and governing equations is reduced, making it easier to use. Hamilton's Principle is extended to derive the equations of motion of the plates using Navier's double trigonometric series, a closed-form solution is obtained; the primary conclusion is that simple solution is obtained with good results accuracy when compared with previously published results, and the natural frequency will differ depending on, environment temperature, thickness ratio, and lamination angle, as well as the aspect ratio of the plate.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between psychological basic needs(autonomy, competence, relatedness) based on self-determination theory and career indecision of female college students. The participants of this study were 1,060 female college students in B city. To analyze data, cannonical correlation analysis was performed. The results of this study are as follows: First, the level of psychological basic needs was generally high among research participants and there were significant differences depending on the grades. Second, the level of career indecision was generally low and there were also significant differences depending on the grades. Third, the result of cannonical correlation analysis showed significant negative relationship between psychological basic needs and career indecision. Discussions and suggestions related to the results were provided.

  • This paper presents a basic theory of information flow from single sending point to multiple receiving points, where new theories of algebraic system called "Hybrid Vector Space" and flow vector space play important roles. Based on the theory, a new algorithm for finding maximum homogenous information flow is proposed, where homogenous information flow means the flow of the same contents of information delivered to multiple clients at a time. Effective multi-routing algorithms fur tree-shape delivery rout search are presented.
