  • An mobile ad hoc network(MANET) is a collection of wireless computers (nodes), communicating among themselves over multi-hop paths, without the help of any infrastructure such as base stations or access points. Prior research in MANET has generally studied the routing problem in a non-adversarial setting, assuming a trusted environment. In this paper, we design and evaluate the Secure Zone Routing Protocol(T-ZRP), a secure ad hoc network routing protocol is based on the design of the hash chain. In order to support use with nodes of limited CPU processing capability, and to guard against Denial-of-Service attacks in which an attacker attempts to cause other nodes to consume excess network bandwidth or processing time, we use efficient one-way hash functions and don't use asymmetric cryptographic operations in the protocol. Proposed algorithm can safely send to data through authentication mechanism and integrity about routing establishment.

  • Until recently, power amplifiers using LDMOS were Class-AB and Doherty type, and showed 55 % efficiency for narrowband of 60 MHz bandwidth. However, owing to the RRH application of base stations power amplifier module, a bandwidth expansion of at least 100 MHz and high efficiency power amplifiers of at least 60 % power efficiency are required. In this study, a Class-J power amplifier was designed by optimizing an output matching circuit so that the second harmonic load will contain a pure reactance element only and have broadband characteristics by using GaN HEMT. The measurements showed that a 45 W Class-J power amplifier with a power added efficiency of 60~75 % was achieved when continuous wave signals were input at 1.6~2.3 GHz, including W-CDMA application.

  • This paper is aimed at developing an location tracking system of mobile station based on currently available mobile communication network or mobile Phone and PCS(Personal Communication System). When the location tracking of mobile stations is in services, Emergency-119, all of crime investigation, effective urban traffic management and the safety protection of Alzheimer's patients can be available. In order to track the location of the mobile and base station, assumption in this paper is to use the statistic characteristics of LOS when modeling the standard noise in case that radio path is LNOS environment. The standard variation of the standard noise is $\pm150$. First, location is estimated by the positioning algorithms of TOA and TDOA and compared each other. Second, after canceling the standard noise by Kalman filter, location is estimated by the above two positioning algorithms. Finally, the location by the Kalman filter and two positioning algorithms is estimated by smoothing method. As a result, 2 dimensional average location error is imvoved by 51.2m in TOA and 34.8m in TDOA when Kalman filer and two positioning algorithms are used, compared with the two positioning algorithm used. And there is 3 more meter improvement after smoothing than Kalman filer and two positioning algorithms used.

  • We introduce a hybrid scheduling in a multi-path poor scattering full-duplex (FD) system, which consists of one multi-antenna FD base station and a large number of single-antenna half-duplex mobile stations. Our hybrid scheduling utilizes partial channel state information at the transmitter. In particular, unlike the conventional scheduling method using opportunistic transmission for both uplink and downlink, the proposed scheme combines a random transmit beamforming for downlink and a zero forcing beamforming for uplink. As our main result, via computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme has a superior sum-rate performance than that of the conventional scheduling method beyond a certain signal-to-noise ratio regime.

  • IEEE 802.16e standard, a kind of WMAN standard, was established to support data services with cheaper cost to mobile users than traditional mobile communications system and wireless LAN system can do. In this paper, we propose an uplink QoS packet-scheduler for VoIP service which can be installed in IEEE 802.16 system and evaluate its performance with NS-2 network simulator. The proposed QoS packet-scheduler consists of three procedures: determining scheduler interval, determining the amount of resource assignment, and deciding which mobile station the base station should serve first among multiple mobile stations. According to numerical results, the proposed QoS packet-scheduler can provide more increased system capacity by 220% than UGS service scheme does and by 25 % than ertPS service scheme does.

  • Femto-cells are low power/cost, micro-base stations and are main components in heterogeneous networks. However, some of technical issues arise when femto-cells are initially installed. One approach to resolve the problems is to control the transmission (TX) power autonomously via SON(Self-Organized Network) scheme. By controlling the femto-cell TX power, the system throughput performance can be improved or the system overhead is highly reduced. Generally, the TX power for maximizing the system throughput and that for reduced system overhead may not be identical. Therefore, we propose a TX power control scheme by which we can improve the system throughput and reduce the system overhead, simultaneously. When we apply the proposed method, the simulation results show that the system overhead can be reduced by up to 41% compared to the performance of the method which maximizes throughput performance only, and the throughput performance can be improved by up to 63% compared to that of the method which only optimizes the coverage area.

  • Small cells such as pico or femto cells are promising as a solution to cope with higher traffic explosion and the large number of users. However, the users within small cells are likely to suffer severe inter-cell interference (ICI) from neighboring base stations (BSs). To tackle this, several papers suggest BS transmit power on/off control algorithms which increase edge user throughput. However, these algorithms require centralized coordinator and have high computational complexity. This paper makes a contribution towards presenting fully distributed and low complex joint BS on/off control and user scheduling algorithm (FDA) by selecting on/off pattern of BSs. Throughput the extensive simulations, we verify the performance of our algorithm as follows: (i) Our FDA provides better throughput performance of cell edge users by 170% than the algorithm without the ICI management. (ii) Our FDA catches up with the performance of optimal algorithm by 88-96% in geometric average throughput and sufficiently small gap in edge user throughput.

  • Vehicular communication networking is one of the most important building blocks of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The vehicular communication network is a wireless communication system enabling vehicles to communicate with each other as well as with roadside base stations. Mobility management of vehicles which move at high speeds and occasionally make a long journey is an interesting research area of vehicular communication networks. Recently, The Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) protocol is proposed for network-based mobility management to reduce the overhead of mobile nodes. PMIPv6 shifts the burden of the mobility management from mobile nodes to network agents to decrease the overhead and latency for the mobility management. In this paper, we derive the scenario of deploying PMIPv6 in vehicular communication networks and propose a new LMA handover mechanism for realizing the scenario. By carrying out the ns-2 based simulations, we verify the operability of the proposed mechanism.

  • Today, as various access technologies appear, for example WiMax, WiBro, the demand for spectrum is increasing rapidly. Spectrums are a national resource with scarcity value so that we need to a]locate them effectively for the national economy and industry. Accordingly, In the paper, we proposed several factors and new model for estimating spectrum requirements of a next generation mobile network with multimedia data services. These are self-similarity characteristics of data traffic, engineered capacity considering QoS, structure of FA increase, asymmetry of data traffic between uplink and downlink, handoff traffic, and uneven traffic pattern among base stations. It can applied mobile WiMax or other wireless broadband systems in general.

  • The satellite 2.1 GHz frequency bands, 1980-2010 MHz and 2170-2200MHz are allocated for mobile satellite service including satellite IMT, while it does not preclude the use of these bands for mobile services. The concept of an integrated satellite/terrestrial network has been introduced in worldwide because the terrestrial use in these bands adjacent to existing terrestrial IMT bands is attractive to provide mobile broadband services. The integrated satellite/terrestrial infrastructure with a high degree of spectrum utilization efficiency has the ability to provide both multimedia broadband services and public protection and disaster relief solutions. In addition, it is required to consider interference issues between the terrestrial and satellite components in order to reuse the same frequency band to both satellite and terrestrial component. This paper analyzes the interference for satellite downlink in the satellite/terrestrial integrated system and presents the interference mitigation techniques for satellite mobile earth station interfered by terrestrial base stations.
