  • In this study, a design-supporting system, which is intended to assist engineers in the schematic phase of the structural design, is developed using a case database that contains design information of tall buildings in Korea. A case-based reasoning method utilizing the case database is proposed. The inductive retrieval module for selecting structural system, in the initial stage, from the design information of case database for 47 tall buildings is presented. Also, the nearest-neighbor retrieval method for selecting similar design cases is introduced.

  • An off-line programming (OLP) system was proposed and developed in order to save cost and time in adjusting a robot to new workcells or applying new algorithms to actual trajectory planning. The developed OLP system was especially designed to be operated in a PC level host computer. A SCARA robot with four axes was selected as an objective robot. The OLP system developed in this study consisted of such modules as data base, three-dimensional graphics, kinematics, trajectory planning, dynamics, control, and commands. Each module was constructed to form an independent unit so that it can be easily modified or improved. The OLP system was programmed for a graphic user interface in Borland $C^{++}$ language. Some of system operating commands and an interpreter were devised and used for more convenient programming of robot simulations.s.

  • In this paper, we present a performance analysis of the smart antenna test-bed operating in a IS2000 1x through a test-bed that has been implemented on a DSP(TMS320C6711) board. The test-bed consists of a PC (for generating the RX data), beam-former(i.e., a stand-alone PCB for weight computation), and an interfacing module. The performance improvements compared to a normal base station system consisting of a single antenna are shown in terms the BER(bit error rate) in the wide-band CDMA channel.

  • In this paper, it is designed mobile communication base station module type bandpass filter which is recently used coplanar waveguide in many way because of structural merit. Using Conductor-Backed Coplanar waveguide of Itoh, it is determined the value of impedance which had capable impedance value with selected H in 2.4 and proved the impedance of each sections. It use the commensurate line of $\lambda$/4, fixed a space of between two ground line and calculated the width of signal line. Because designed filter less than microstrip filter in space, it obtained excellent characteristic of 15dB throughout all passband and sharp cut-off characteristic.

  • Electronic commerce part is changing rapidly for more efficient service support according to customer's inclination and request which pass over the time and space. That is, It was considered in customer's side that process and management of content by various articles, and component base development was considered in side of developer and administrator to operate this effectively. So, electronic commerce system need component based development that can be coped with efficient and active it and goods contents management to customers various inclination. Thus, in this research we implemented goods purchase system based on EJB(Enterprise Java Beans) of sewer side component mode. That is, each function part from goods contents to purchase is implemented to component which is independent execution module. Accordingly, component which is independence function part can cope actively in process of contents that change variously.

  • Capacitive deionization(CDI) is an ion removal technology that employs the basic electrochemical principle of absorbing ions in high surface area electrode. CDI technology reduce power consumption because it operates at lower electrode potential(about 1~2 V). Also, it is an environmentally friendly technology because no acid, base, or salts are required to generate the surface. In this study, we searched the patents and papers to investigate the trend of CDI technologies. Database was collected from WIPS and Scopus site and was investigated according to electrode, module and application technology of CDI. The technology trend of CDI was analyzed based on patent application year, countries, main applications and technologies.

  • The tracking information of objects or persons plays the important role for being advanced of the technology in the logistics management or processing. In this paper, we propose the TDOA-based localization method for port logistics environment for obtaining accurate location of a tag which is attached to some objects or persons. The proposed method consists of these modules for precision : An adaptive selection module of base reader, 2.5D locating method and position-restriction method using a map. This paper includes the performance evaluation of those methods. We could see the improved performance in the simulation. And we also implemented the system and achieved the accuracy of DRMS and CEP within 4 meters.

  • This paper proposes a reusable design for the merging process used in three-dimensional High Efficiency Video Coding (3D-HEVC), which can significantly reduce the implementation complexity by eliminating duplicated module redundancies. The majority of inter-prediction coding tools used in 3D-HEVC are utilized through a merge mode, whose extended merging process is based on built-in integration to completely wrap around the HEVC merging process. Consequently, the implementation complexity is unavoidably very high. To facilitate easy market implementation, the design of a legacy codec should be reused in an extended codec if possible. The proposed 3D-HEVC merging process is divided into the base merging process of reusing HEVC modules and reprocessing process of refining the existing processes that have been newly introduced or modified for 3D-HEVC. To create a reusable design, the causal and mutual dependencies between the newly added modules for 3D-HEVC and the reused HEVC modules are eliminated, and the ineffective methods are simplified. In an application of the proposed reusable design, the duplicated reimplementation of HEVC modules, which account for 50.7% of the 3D-HEVC merging process, can be eliminated while maintaining the same coding efficiency. The proposed method has been adopted as a normative coding tool in the 3D-HEVC international standard.

  • Background Congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) is a benign condition. With early diagnosis and appropriate management, it can be cured completely, leaving no residual deformity. However, long-standing, untreated CMT can lead to permanent craniofacial deformities and asymmetry. Methods Nineteen patients presented to the author with congenital muscular torticollis. Three dimensional computed tomography (3-D CT) scans was obtained upon patient’s admission. Adjustment of skull’s position to Frankfort horizontal plan was done. Cervical vertebral segmentation was done which allowed a 3D module to be separately created for each vertebra to detect any anatomical or positional changes. Results The segmented vertebrae showed an apparent anatomical changes, which were most noticeable at the level of the atlas and axis vertebrae. These changes decreased gradually till reaching the seventh cervical vertebra, which appeared to be normal in all patients. The changes in the atlas vertebra were mostly due to its intimate relation with the skull base, while the changes of the axis were the most significantConclusion Cervical vertebral segmentation is a reliable tool for isolation and studying cervical vertebral pathological changes of each vertebra separately. The accuracy of the procedures in addition to the availability of many software that can be used for segmentation will allow many surgeons to use segmentation of the vertebrae for diagnosis and even for preoperative simulation planning.

  • The concept-based translation system, which is a part of the Korean spoken language translation system, translates spoken utterances from Korean speech recognizer into one of English, Japanese and Korean in a travel planning task. Our system regulates semantic rather than the syntactic category in order to process the spontaneous speech which tends to be regarded as the one ungrammatical and subject to recognition errors. Utterances are parsed into concept structures, and the generation module produces the sentence of the specified target language. We have developed a token-separator using base-words and an automobile grammar corrector for Korean processing. We have also developed postprocessors for each target language in order to improve the readability of the generation results.
